Chapter 30: Uchiha’s Strategic Ties

Mika nodded in agreement and said, "Your father is right! Even with only a quarter of the full potency, it's more than enough! People will be lining up to buy it!"
"Our family gets to use the full version thanks to your little brother. You should be grateful! Where else would you find such a good sibling?"
This foolish son of hers just didn't get it at all.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah!"
Uchiha Hiro gave an exasperated nod.
Could he refuse to have such a good little brother?
Uh... Actually, he really couldn't bear to.
No choice—Kira gave too much.
"Oh, right!"
At this moment, Mika turned to Kira and asked, "Since we're opening a pharmacy, just relying on buying from other shops won't cut it. The supply from regular stores won't be enough either. We need to find a few stable, long-term suppliers. What do you think, Kira?"
"Agreed!"
Uchiha Kira nodded in approval. "This is something Mother and Father should probably handle—negotiating with the herbal merchants."
"Make sure to pick multiple suppliers."
"Also, I suggest adding the Nara Clan to the list. If possible, we should establish a long-term supply agreement with them."
After all, the Nara Clan had been raising herbs for generations.
"Oh?"
Uchiha Ken raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Why specifically mention the Nara Clan? You must have another reason, right?"
Uchiha Kira simply spread his hands with a grin. "Isn't it obvious? I'm just trying to get more allies for the Uchiha."
"Forming a direct alliance is unrealistic. First, we establish business ties. Once our interests are deeply intertwined, we can gradually build a real alliance!"
"Dad, you haven't forgotten our Uchiha's current situation, have you?"
"It'd be a shame not to take advantage of an opportunity like this!"
"The Ino-Shika-Cho trio holds considerable influence in Konoha, and the Nara Clan is known for their intelligence. Getting them on our side can only benefit us."
More friends, fewer enemies—simple as that.
"That makes sense!"
Uchiha Ken and Uchiha Hiro's eyes lit up.
"You really have a sharp mind! Alright, let's do it!"
"However, I think you should personally handle this matter. At most, I'll accompany you to show support."
"If I go alone, I'm afraid it might not work."
Before Kira could reply, Uchiha Hiro frowned in confusion. "Why? Didn't Kira just say the Nara Clan is full of smart people?"
Uchiha Ken shot Hiro a glare. "Idiot! It's exactly because they're smart that they tend to stay neutral when it comes to political matters."
"The Ino-Shika-Cho trio has always been loyal to the Hokage. They support whoever holds that title."
"You think they don't know how Konoha's higher-ups have been suppressing the Uchiha?"
"In a situation like this, why would they risk associating with us?"
"The only reason we stand a chance is because Kira is Tsunade's disciple, which makes him practically the Third Hokage's grand-disciple. That gives him the best shot at making this deal happen. Got it?"
Honestly, whose genes did this kid inherit?
He didn't seem to have inherited any of their intelligence!
He was starting to doubt whether he could have fathered such a foolish son.
Uchiha Hiro: "..."
"Fine, whatever!"
Uchiha Hiro scratched his cheek in frustration and muttered, "All these mind games are exhausting. You guys have fun with it. I'm out!"
With that, he slipped away.
"That brat!"
Uchiha Ken watched Hiro run off with an exasperated sigh. He really wished his son had a bit more ambition.
"Alright, then I'll go with you, Dad. Let's set the meeting for tomorrow morning."
Uchiha Kira nodded in understanding.
"Sounds good!"

The Next Morning
At the Nara Residence—
When Nara Shikayama, the father of Nara Shikaku, heard that Uchiha Kira had come to visit as Tsunade's disciple, he immediately invited him and Uchiha Ken inside.
After some small talk, Nara Shikayama finally smiled and said, "I've heard plenty about Tsunade's genius disciple. They say you mastered all her medical jutsu in just a few months. Now I finally get to meet you in person!"
"So, what brings you here today, young man?"
Of course, he knew who Uchiha Kira was.
A true prodigy.
He was genuinely surprised that Kira had become Tsunade's disciple.
After all, everyone knew the Uchiha and Senju were historical rivals.
But times had changed, and Tsunade's reasoning was beyond his understanding.
What mattered now was why this boy had suddenly come knocking.
"I just hope this doesn't turn into a headache…"
Nara Shikayama sighed internally.
He hated trouble.
It ran in the family.
Uchiha Kira got straight to the point. "Shikayama-senpai, I heard the Nara Clan deals in herbal medicine, and since I've been learning from Tsunade-sensei, I've developed some effective secret formulas. I'm planning to open a store."
"In fact, I've already secured a decent supply contract within my clan."
"That means I'll need a large and stable supply of medicinal herbs."
"So I came to see if the Nara Clan would be interested in a long-term supply agreement."
"We're also reaching out to other potential suppliers, and we're willing to negotiate fair prices. Would you be open to this deal?"
It'd be great if they agreed. If not, well, no hard feelings.
But in the future, he certainly wouldn't share any benefits with them.
Being cautious was fine, but if they played it too safe, they'd miss out on opportunities.
Now, it was up to Nara Shikayama to decide.
"Oh?"
Nara Shikayama was slightly surprised that it was just a business proposal.
If that was all, then there was no reason to refuse.
A purely commercial deal wouldn't raise suspicions from the Third Hokage, and rejecting the Uchiha outright might create unnecessary hostility.
After thinking it over, Nara Shikayama smiled and nodded. "No problem at all! The Nara Clan is in the herbal medicine business, and we have no reason to refuse a straightforward business deal."
"Consider it done."
"Do you have a list of the herbs you need and the monthly quantity?"
After all, business was business—nothing wrong with making some money.
But Shikayama was still curious about what kind of medicine Uchiha Kira had developed.
Not only was he planning a grand opening, but he had also secured a contract with the Uchiha Clan itself.
This three-year-old... was really something else.
...
