Chapter 188: Chapter 186: Vengeance
Chapter 186: Vengeance
Rewinding to a moment earlier—just as Baishi successfully fused Sage Chakra, mastering Sage Mode.
---
Ryūchi Cave
In the depths of the cavern, Tenjin-hime abruptly opened her eyes, her voice groggy yet tinged with surprise. "What's this? Natural energy has been disturbed?"
Her momentary confusion quickly gave way to clarity. "Could it be... him?"
A flicker of excitement danced in her serpentine gaze.
Tenjin-hime had been keeping tabs on Baishi, her interest in him undeterred. During this time, she had even reached out to Orochimaru, acquiring Baishi's name and some details about his abilities.
However, for the past half-month, Baishi seemed to have vanished without a trace. Her search turned up nothing, and her vigilance gradually waned.
Yet, just as she allowed herself a moment of relaxation, Baishi reappeared, his activities once again disturbing Ryūchi Cave's flow of natural energy. Though the disruption was slight, her acute sensitivity to natural energy allowed her to detect it immediately.
Still, Tenjin-hime did not suspect that Baishi had already completed Sage Mode. After all, she had checked the surrounding area just the day before and confirmed his absence. Given his progress from two weeks prior, she believed it was impossible for him to achieve such a feat in just one day, especially without external assistance.
What she couldn't anticipate was how drastically Baishi's aptitude for Sage Mode had improved over the past fortnight. Not only had he returned, but within mere hours, he had successfully mastered Sage Mode.
As Tenjin-hime emerged to confront him, she was greeted by Baishi standing calmly in his newly transformed state. Their gazes met, and Baishi's lips curled into a faint smile.
"Tenjin-hime, you seem quite eager. May I ask what brings you here in such haste?"
Her eyes widened as she took in the silver markings on his forehead and cheeks. Shock colored her voice. "You... succeeded?"
Baishi shrugged nonchalantly, the smirk on his face growing. His silence spoke volumes.
Tenjin-hime's expression shifted from disbelief to a complex mix of frustration and unease.
Baishi's gaze remained steady, his tone growing colder. "Now, Tenjin-hime, do tell me—what urgent matter has brought you here?"
Perhaps emboldened by her position in Ryūchi Cave, or perhaps underestimating the threat before her, Tenjin-hime failed to detect the icy undertone in Baishi's words. Her tone turned condescending.
"This is Ryūchi Cave's territory," she declared. "Since you've attained Sage Mode here, it's only proper for you to accompany me to meet the White Snake Sage."
Hearing her words, Baishi chuckled softly. His amusement held a chilling edge. "Ryūchi Cave's territory, you say… Tell me, do you truly believe we're done with our prior encounter?"
Her brows furrowed, sensing a shift in his demeanor. "What do you mean?"
Baishi's smile disappeared, his expression hardening. "What I mean is… you can die now."
Before she could respond, Baishi vanished from sight with a resounding boom, leaving a crater in his wake.
The sudden burst of killing intent sent a chill down Tenjin-hime's spine. She twisted her body to evade, but it was too late—Baishi's foot connected with her neck, producing a sickening crack.
Her head snapped sideways at a grotesque angle.
For any ordinary being, this injury would have been fatal. But Tenjin-hime was no ordinary creature. Her human form dissolved, revealing her true self: a massive white serpent, dozens of meters long.
Even so, the injuries remained. Her neck bore visible signs of damage, with shattered scales and blood pouring from her wounds.
"Baishi!" she screeched, her voice reverberating with rage and pain.
Hearing his name from her lips caused Baishi to pause momentarily, his curiosity piqued.
"So, she knows my name?"
The thought flickered briefly before he refocused on the task at hand. There was no time to dwell on such trivialities—he needed to eliminate her quickly. The proximity to Ryūchi Cave posed a risk, and any drawn-out conflict could attract the attention of other high-ranking members or, worse, the White Snake Sage herself.
Baishi's resolve hardened. His vendetta against Tenjin-hime was simple: revenge.
Two weeks prior, her abrupt interference had nearly cost him his life during Sage Mode training. Though he survived, her subsequent attempt to lure him into a deadly trap solidified her as a threat that couldn't be ignored.
At the time, he had chosen restraint, needing the area to complete his training. Now, with Sage Mode mastered, there was no longer any reason to hold back.
Baishi was not one to forgive or forget. Anyone who sought his demise would face the consequences.
"Enough distractions," he muttered, forming hand seals with practiced precision.
"Wood Style: Tree Bind Eternal Burial."
From the ground, dozens of thick vines erupted, entangling Tenjin-hime and immobilizing her in place. She writhed and thrashed, but the Sage-enhanced technique held firm.
As she struggled, Baishi calmly performed another set of seals.
A sudden and overwhelming sense of doom washed over Tenjin-hime, pulling her back to reality. Panic set in as she realized she had underestimated him. Desperation drove her to retreat toward Ryūchi Cave.
Baishi noticed her intent instantly. Activating the Crimson Ring of Illusions on his finger, he released its dormant power.
A faint red glow emanated from the ring as three tomoe within its gem began to spin. Tenjin-hime's eyes were irresistibly drawn to it, and her mind faltered.
"A genjutsu…?"
She recognized the technique too late. By the time she broke free, a radiant white light filled her vision.
"No—!"
Her anguished cry was abruptly cut short as her body was engulfed by a powerful Dust Release: Detachment of the Primitive World Technique.
Half of her serpentine form disintegrated into atomic particles, leaving nothing behind but a deep trench carved into the earth.
Baishi clicked his tongue, gazing at the destruction left in the wake of his attack. "Dust Release… incredibly destructive. A little too much for my liking."
He smirked, his voice tinged with dark amusement. "But I like it."
Approaching the remnants of her corpse, Baishi prepared to seal it into his spatial ring.
Suddenly, an overwhelming sense of danger washed over him. A sharp, icy killing intent locked onto him, threatening to freeze him in place.
Baishi's body tensed as his vision dimmed momentarily. Fortunately, Mental Barrier activated at the crucial moment, snapping him back to reality.
Without hesitation, Baishi formed a seal. "Flying Thunder God!"
In a flash, he vanished from the scene, leaving only the eerie silence of the battlefield behind.
