Chapter 208: Chapter 206: Allocation
Chapter 206: Allocation
"Alright, it's settled then."
In the cave, the Akatsuki members finally concluded their strategy meeting.
At last, Nagato summarized, "Orochimaru, Zetsu, you are in charge of Baishi. Your task is to locate him first."
"Hehehe~"
Hearing this, Orochimaru chuckled softly, extending his tongue to lick his lips. His gaze casually swept across Pain's Rinnegan before he replied, "No problem."
In contrast, Zetsu's response was much simpler—a single word: "Understood."
Nagato shifted his gaze and looked at Sasori and Deidara, saying, "As discussed, your target is the One-Tail."
"Any issues, Sasori?"
Before Sasori could answer, Deidara, the younger of the two, enthusiastically interjected, "Don't worry, Leader. With me and Sasori-nii on the job, there won't be any problems."
Sasori, concealed within Hiruko, ignored Deidara's boasting and replied calmly, "I still have a few sleeper agents in Sunagakure. They should be of use for this mission."
"Good."
Nagato nodded in approval before turning to Kakuzu and Hidan. "The Two-Tails and Eight-Tails will be your responsibility."
Hearing this, Kakuzu remained silent, while Hidan laughed sinisterly, saying, "Finally, I can offer some quality sacrifices to Lord Jashin. Jinchūriki, huh? I'll make them experience the greatness of Lord Jashin."
Seeing his enthusiasm, Nagato reminded him sternly, "Remember, we need the Jinchūriki alive."
"Yeah, yeah~"
Hidan waved dismissively. "Don't worry, my dear Leader. I won't kill them. Lord Jashin doesn't require their lives."
Ignoring Hidan's ramblings, Nagato's gaze swept across the group, his Rinnegan emanating an oppressive aura. Once everyone had lowered their heads, he concluded, "I'll personally handle the Three-Tails and Six-Tails. Follow the plan. Dismissed!"
With that, he raised his right hand, formed a seal, and deactivated the Holographic Projection Technique.
As Nagato's image vanished, Konan followed suit.
Orochimaru glanced around at the remaining members and said, "Everyone, take care," before deactivating his projection as well.
Before long, the cave was devoid of shadows, leaving only silence.

Land of Rain, Amegakure
In the God's Tower, within a dimly lit and hidden room, a faint cough echoed.
Shortly after, a gentle female voice spoke, "Nagato, here, have some water."
The perspective shifted to reveal a pale, emaciated figure sitting in a wheelchair. Beside him stood a woman in the Akatsuki's signature black cloak with red clouds, holding a cup of water.
These two were Nagato and Konan.
As the scene focused on Nagato's back, where several black rods protruded from his body, a hint of worry flashed in Konan's eyes.
Sensing her concern, Nagato took the cup and reassured her, "Konan, don't worry. I'm fine."
"..."
Konan opened her mouth as if to speak but ultimately said nothing.
Unlike Yahiko and Nagato, Konan had never been particularly ambitious. Her main goal was to stay with her companions, supporting their dreams as best she could.
First Yahiko, and now Nagato.
Konan had devoted her entire existence to their friendship.
If she were forced to choose between Nagato's life and peace for the ninja world, she would unhesitatingly choose to keep Nagato alive, even if it meant the world remained as it was.
Unfortunately, Nagato wouldn't allow that.
Taking the empty cup from him and waiting until his breathing steadied, Konan finally asked, "Nagato, can we trust Zetsu and Orochimaru?"
She hadn't forgotten her first encounter with Baishi, who had questioned whether Akatsuki had someone named Zetsu or Black Zetsu.
Because of this, Konan had always been wary of Black Zetsu.
As for Orochimaru, his greedy gaze couldn't be ignored either.
Hearing the concern in her voice, Nagato waved dismissively. "It doesn't matter. I never expected them to succeed anyway."
"Hm?"
Konan looked puzzled.
Nagato explained, "Baishi is too mysterious and resourceful. Zetsu and Orochimaru won't be able to catch him."
"..."
Realizing how absolute his statement sounded, Nagato paused, then added, "At least not in the short term."
"My only purpose in deploying them is to keep Baishi occupied. After all, Baishi already has four tailed beasts. We can't let him capture any more. Our plan also requires tailed beasts."
"Is that why you're starting the plan early?" Konan asked.
"Exactly."
Nagato nodded, saying, "We must act before he does..."
As he continued speaking, their voices gradually became inaudible.

Elsewhere, Moon Island
On the central peak, within the training chamber, Baishi finished his daily routine. He then activated his space ring and entered it.
"Master!"
The moment he stepped in, Summer greeted him respectfully.
"Mm."
Baishi nodded in acknowledgment and asked, "How are those two?"
Summer naturally knew which two he meant—aside from herself and Firefly, only Roshi and Fu were there.
That's right. Roshi and Fu were still alive.
In other words, the tailed beasts within them had not yet been extracted. Otherwise, they would already be dead.
Roshi was a seasoned ninja, so extracting his tailed beast would mean his death, which wasn't a major concern.
Fu, however, was different. She was a child barely ten years old.
If there were no alternatives, Baishi wouldn't hesitate to extract the tailed beasts. But since he had found a method to separate Jinchūriki from their tailed beasts without killing them, he hadn't acted rashly.
That method, however, was still in its infancy, so he hadn't implemented it yet.
Moreover, Baishi also wanted to refine his sealing techniques to improve the efficiency of extracting chakra from the tailed beasts. This, too, required time.
For these reasons, he hadn't yet extracted the tailed beasts from Roshi and Fu.
But Baishi was confident it wouldn't be long before his sealing techniques were perfected. Once that happened, he could proceed with the extraction.
While lost in thought, Summer's voice broke his reverie. "Master, they're fine. Roshi continues meditating daily, while Fu keeps complaining about wanting to go home."
"I see."
Baishi pondered briefly before saying, "Ignore them. As long as they stay in their rooms, they can do whatever they want."
It wasn't that he was being careless; both Roshi and Fu were covered in his curse seals. They couldn't escape, let alone commit suicide.
Since that was the case, there was no need to worry about them. After all, this matter would be resolved in just a few days.
With this thought, Baishi locked onto the Flying Thunder God mark in his study and activated the technique.
In an instant, his figure disappeared from the room.
