Chapter 2: Obito
"Is that your question? Come on, this graduation exam will obviously be harder than the regular annual tests. Right, Gen?"
Before Gen could respond, a female voice slipped in from his other side.
It was Shizune, his seatmate to the left, directly opposite Kurenai. Without realizing it, both had surrounded him.
Recognizing the voice, Kurenai turned her head and shot Shizune a sharp look, visibly annoyed.
"Who knows? Maybe it'll turn out to be easier than expected."
As if he didn't notice the tension between the two, Gen smiled slightly before turning to Shizune.
Like many other girls in the class, the combination of his talent, attractiveness, and carefree personality made him a magnet for young women, whose emotional awakening came early in this world.
Kurenai and Shizune were no exception. In fact, they had even resorted to some unethical methods to ensure they sat next to him.
When Gen smiled, both felt an inevitable flutter in their chests. Without realizing it, a blush spread across their cheeks as their bodies instinctively leaned toward him, closing the distance even more.
The subtle fragrance they gave off reached Gen, making him blink for a moment.
As he observed the classroom and the atmosphere around him, his mind began to wander, recalling the events of the past year.
His impressive progress was no mere coincidence. About a year ago, he had regained the memories of his past life.
Before this world, he had lived in a place called "Earth."
The most shocking thing of all was that, in his previous life, there had been an anime called Naruto, a globally famous work and a worldwide phenomenon.
Discovering that he now lived within that very world left him in a state of shock. At first, disbelief overwhelmed him, making him feel completely lost.
But over time, the fusion of both memories accelerated his mental maturity, giving him a sharper perspective. It didn't take long for him to accept his new reality and begin planning his path.
He had no other choice. If he did nothing, his future was already written: his clan was destined for massacre, and he would be no exception.
However, along with the memories of his past life, he had also gained something else—an opportunity to change his fate.
A system called Talent Evolution appeared in his mind.
As its name suggested, this system allowed him to enhance and develop his natural talents beyond what he could on his own.
In Gen Uchiha's case, his talents were divided into five categories: [Sharingan] [Constitution] [Ninjutsu] [Taijutsu] [Genjutsu].
These could be improved using points.
And how could he obtain points?
He didn't know.
But the system automatically generated one evolution point per hour, and the first upgrade in any of his talents cost 100 points.
In his first month, he had accumulated 720 points, enough to improve each of his talents at least once.
The change was immediate. His progress in training skyrocketed, transforming him from an average student into a rising genius.
Moreover, his adult mindset gave him an advantage over the others. With greater cunning and maturity, he began weaving strategic relationships, building a network of contacts within the academy.
As he reviewed his memories, the other students continued demonstrating the Transformation Technique, following the instructor's directions.
"Obito Uchiha."
The call snapped him out of his thoughts. His gaze immediately focused on the figure standing up and walking toward the podium.
Same surname, same clothes with the Uchiha clan emblem on the back.
Gen maintained a neutral expression, but deep in his eyes, a peculiar gleam appeared.
Obito Uchiha.
If he didn't know the future of this world, he would find it hard to believe that this clumsy, timid boy—always at the bottom of the class in performance—would one day become a true villain, capable of doing anything to fulfill his plan.
Unlike Gen's confidence and calmness, Obito looked visibly tense and nervous.
Under the teacher's stern gaze, he clenched his teeth and formed the hand seal.
"Transformation Technique."
Poof
The smoke quickly dissipated, revealing a... peculiar figure.
Peculiar, because not only did it look nothing like the teacher, but it was also missing an arm and had one leg longer than the other.
It looked more like a poorly molded clay figure made by a three-year-old than an actual human being.
"Not approved!"
The teacher's face darkened immediately, and with evident frustration, he scolded:
"Obito, when are you going to stop failing? You're an Uchiha! Why can't you learn from Gen? You'll stay after class! You're not going home until you perfect the Transformation Technique!"
Obito dispelled the technique with an embarrassed expression, but he didn't give up entirely.
"Sensei, it was just a mistake! Let me try again..."
His gaze filled with determination before he firmly added:
"This time, I'll definitely do better than Gen!"
Unfortunately, even though the teacher gave him several chances, his attempts were an absolute disaster.
Each transformation resulted in deformed figures with absurd proportions and missing limbs.
"Hahaha! Oh god, Obito, seriously! Instead of being a ninja, why don't you try being a clown? It comes naturally to you!"
"Look at that! Did you really think you could compare yourself to Gen? Wake up, idiot! Gen is the best in the class, and you're the disgrace of the clan!"
"No doubt about it! Classic Obito. Even when he fails, he has to do it in the most pathetic way possible."
"Ha! Was that supposed to be a transformation? Looks like someone pulled a ragdoll out of the trash and stuck a peg leg on it!"
"Obito, please, my stomach hurts from laughing too much. Don't you get tired of making a fool of yourself?"
Obito's constant failures unleashed laughter throughout the classroom. The students took advantage of every one of his failed attempts to mock him, and the girls, especially, were ruthless with their criticism.
Some whispered among themselves, outraged that he even had the audacity to compare himself to Gen.
"Ugh, how dare he even mention himself in the same sentence as Gen?"
"He's just embarrassing himself. If I were him, I'd bury myself alive."
