Chapter 185: Chapter 185: A New Recruit

After hearing Rebecca's offer, Shin felt speechless.

This young girl's combat strength was still developing, and without any devil fruit abilities, she wouldn't be of much practical use.

"No! I can't let my granddaughter sacrifice herself again!" King Riku protested as if Shin were some terrible villain.

"I am also a member of this country's royal family. Of course, I'm willing to sacrifice for it," Rebecca replied confidently.

Just as the tension began to rise between them, Shin interjected, waving his hand dismissively. "Alright, alright. I don't need anything from you."

Rebecca's face flushed and stammered, "I-I'm skilled in swordsmanship. I could even... warm your bed."

"Stop right there!" Shin exclaimed, raising a hand to halt her. He felt his reputation was at stake.

Besides, she was only fourteen! This was beyond inappropriate. 'The Intergalactic FBI might be watching,' he thought with a grimace.

King Riku looked like he was on the verge of a heart attack. Shin feared that the old king might not survive the conversation if he entertained Rebecca's idea.

"Why is that the first thing that comes to mind?" Shin sighed, shaking his head. "Could it be that Dressrosa's culture of love and passion is affecting your thinking?"

"Oh?" Rebecca looked confused. "Didn't the newspaper say that you defeated the Beast Pirates for the sake of the most beautiful woman in Wano?"

"What?!" Shin felt a pang of dread.

Rebecca continued shyly, "Did you not see today's paper?"

"Give me that newspaper," Shin demanded, his face growing darker.

As he read through it, his bad feeling was confirmed. The article twisted the story into a tale of Shin overthrowing the Beast Pirates out of desire for the beauty of Wano, completely reversing the actual events. He started to plot all the ways he'd punish the meddling albatross responsible for this tabloid story.

Ultimately, Shin agreed to King Riku's request but requested Kyros, Rebecca's father, and the former Toy Soldier, to join him instead.

Kyros was strong; even with his current condition, he could still match the strength of skilled fighters like Ulti and Page One. With the right devil fruit, his combat abilities would surely improve.

"Father!" Rebecca embraced her father tearfully, and Shin waited until the emotions settled.

Once the reunion subsided, Shin expressed his conditions for Kyros's allegiance.

Though Kyros was honorable and technically opposed to the Donquixote family, his daughter's welfare mattered above all. For her, he would serve loyally, provided Shin respected his principles.

After securing his loyalty, Shin used his skills with the Munch-Munch Fruit to craft a new leg for Kyros. Through his abilities, the leg matched the strength Kyros had once achieved through rigorous training, restoring him to his peak combat power.

Seeing his healed leg, Kyros's attitude toward Shin softened, and Rebecca looked at Shin with teary gratitude. Kyros swiftly led her away before she could express her thanks, and his face darkened with a protective demeanor.

Negotiating with the Tontatta Tribe, the tiny people of Dressrosa, was relatively easy. The Tontatta Tribe were naturally trusting, almost to a fault, and with Violet's good relations with them, Shin quickly secured their help through a simple labor contract.

In truth, the little people were known to have a playful, mischievous streak, often pilfering small items throughout Dressrosa. Although King Riku's family tried to cover for them, Dressrosa's citizens didn't always appreciate their antics. This reputation made it easier for Doflamingo to enslave them, as many residents weren't too concerned about rescuing the little people.

Shin saw value in giving the Tontatta Tribe a productive role where their efforts could benefit the country rather than leaving them to roam around causing mischief. Though innocent, the tribe's sense of good and evil was childlike and underdeveloped.

By employing them, Shin provided a way for the tribe to integrate into society and find a sustainable role in Dressrosa. The tribe's trust in Violet and the royal family made them willing partners, though they barely understood Shin's reasoning and just followed along.

Shin implemented a work schedule for them that included plenty of benefits, avoiding any exploitative practices. Planting materials for the artificial devil fruit production, the tribe didn't need to exhaust themselves since the factory could only process a limited quantity anyway.

The artificial devil fruits wouldn't be needed for Shin in this world. He could already procure actual devil fruits, and only high-grade replicas could pique his interest. However, he saw great potential for them in other worlds.

In places like the shinobi world, these artificial fruits could make a difference by enhancing people's physical abilities to match this world. And with increased physical strength, they could more effectively develop chakra, potentially enriching his future chakra collection.

By expanding the presence of devil fruits and fostering strong physiques, Shin could blend the elemental foundations of the shinobi and pirate worlds, laying the groundwork for a future where different powers complemented each other.

If he visited other worlds down the line, he knew that this blending of devil fruit and chakra abilities would have transformative effects. Virtually every system of special abilities would be strengthened with a body fortified by the artificial devil fruit's potential, setting the stage for a broader synergy across worlds.
