Naruto : I Can Evolve My Gene Infinitely

Chapter 18: Blood Shadow Maxed Out, Sovereign of Blood

The Sharingan held a place of sacred power among the Uchiha.

Now, a new method for awakening it had reached perfection: ephedrine, used to stimulate adrenaline and paralyze the nervous system, triggered extreme emotional fluctuations—excitement, fear, pain, joy—all the conditions required to awaken the Sharingan. A perfect success rate.

But it came at a cost.

Ephedrine was addictive. For those of weaker will, it was a slow, corrosive death. Mental degradation followed shortly after. But among the Uchiha, whose madness simmered near the surface, no one cared much for mental stability anyway.

It had already begun showing effects in Uchiha Amagumo—lethargy, depression, complete apathy without the drug. The next step: eliminate the side effects.

With Setsuna's blessing, Rin moved his crude underground lab to a far more secure location—beneath the Uchiha Shrine itself. There, he began reconstructing the facility by the standards of a high-tier bio-research lab from his previous life.

Three hawk-aligned Uchiha volunteered to help. Using Doton techniques, they hollowed out a vast underground chamber in mere days.

Ninjutsu made such construction trivial.

Within three days, the new lab was complete in structure. Only the delicate equipment posed a challenge.

But once Shisui reconnected with Orochimaru, that issue vanished.

Orochimaru was delighted by the opportunity to work with the Uchiha. Generous, unrestrained, he sent whatever Rin required without hesitation. He made a hefty profit from the exchange—and deepened the secret ties between himself and the clan.

"It's done."

Rin stood in the heart of his new domain, the underground research center, awed.

A perfect reconstruction of the biology lab from his old school.

Memories long buried clawed their way back.

His golden ability—Evolutionary Computation—was born for this. A path of biological advancement, not brute strength.

From the moment he abandoned the idea of saving the clan through political power, he had resolved to build a new Uchiha—through the mastery of evolution.

The doves could rot for all he cared.

No more romanticizing fate. No more messiah complex.

Maybe the ephedrine had stripped away the last of his empathy.

Rin didn't mind. He saw clearly now: only outcomes mattered. Feelings were noise.

He passed through four sterilization phases—changing clothes, washing, disinfecting—before entering the cleanroom.

Inside were stainless steel instruments gifted by Orochimaru. Most advanced devices were still missing—Konoha lacked the tech.

So his first experiment would be done manually.

He hadn't wasted his time. Over the past weeks, Rin had constructed a makeshift microscope from scratch—low resolution, but powerful enough to magnify cellular interiors and basic bacteria.

He retrieved a sterilized vial—Shisui's blood, drawn days earlier.

The first trial began.

He examined Shisui's cellular structure, probing for genetic blueprints.

His plan, the so-called Ascension Through Blood, promised more than combat prowess—it could reshape the essence of shinobi biology.

Initially, Rin hoped to discover the key to the Mangekyō's evolution within Shisui's DNA. But the technology simply wasn't there.

So he turned inward.

Using the Blood Shadow skill he'd unlocked previously, he injected his own genetic fragment into Shisui's cells to see if the blood could be adapted.

The result? Catastrophic cell collapse.

"Blood is the root of all physical power. The medium through which chakra flows."

"Level six Blood Shadow isn't enough for gene transference?"

"Isolating Mangekyō's code by blood memory parsing isn't working either... but there must be clues."

"Could it just be a matter of skill level?"

Unwilling to accept failure, Rin pushed forward.

After a month of intense experimentation, he dumped all accumulated Evolution Points into Blood Shadow.

Level 6? Not enough.

He climbed further.

Until—max level.

Blood Shadow hit Level 10, unlocking a new title:

Sovereign of Blood

Consumes 1–1000 Evolution Points to decipher any blood's secrets.

Note: The Sovereign of Blood may command the blood of all living embryos.

Warning: Your control over blood has reached the theoretical limit of biological manipulation.

Every drop of blood now lay bare before him.

It was power.

Rin activated the ability immediately.

He poured his final twelve Evolution Points into decoding Shisui's blood.

One drop.

A glass pipette.

A fingertip.

Activation: Sovereign of Blood.

Reality shifted.

His consciousness was flung into an alien realm.

He saw it.

Countless disc-shaped red blood cells drifting in a river of plasma, each ferrying unknown molecular compounds. Membrane proteins floated like airships, casting shadows beneath them.

Biological fortresses—twisted, grotesque—raged war against fleets of white blood cells.

Each white blood cell fought like a tireless sentinel, obliterating intruders.

He spotted invaders—spheres with golden peptidoglycan shells. A mutated strain of Staphylococcus aureus, perhaps.

There were others.

Tiny, black fungal spores, bouncing off the white cells' defense.

Rod-shaped tetanus bacteria, their large heads twitching like tadpoles as they darted through ruptured immune lines.

But when they reached his skin, a copper-toned wall manifested. They were repelled instantly.

Then he saw it.

A single cell, pulsing, adrift in the blood sea.

A hematopoietic stem cell.

The rarest building block of the entire circulatory system.
