Naruto: I Draw Power Into Reality

Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Mist Rogue Ninja

"Did you sleep well last night?"

The next morning, Danzo woke up early and was training outside.

When he saw Shiso and Sakumo leave their rooms, he glanced back, his cold face softening into a faint smile.

Not bad.

"Thank you for your concern, teacher. We slept fine."

Sakumo replied.

"I don't know about others, but Akaba slept very well."

Shiso sighed softly, a touch envious.

He couldn't imagine how someone could not only sleep soundly but even oversleep in such a bloodstained room — truly a Konoha oddity.

"Haha."

Danzo couldn't help but chuckle.

For someone as lazy as Akaba, after traveling all day and using his Kekkei Genkai to kill, it's no wonder his body and mind were worn out.

"Wake him up. We need to patrol the borderline."

Danzo said indifferently.

"Eh? Are we really going on patrol?"

Akaba's astonished voice came from inside the house.

"Being too smart isn't always good — it makes simple things complicated."

Danzo tossed those words behind him, "Hurry out, or else we'll split into two groups."

"Splitting into two groups sounds great!"

Akaba's eyes lit up.

"Shiso and Sakumo will be one group. Akaba will be with me."

After speaking, Danzo headed downhill.

Akaba's expression froze — this wasn't the scenario he had expected!

"Wait, let's stay as one group!"

He ran out, but Shiso and Sakumo had already gone their way while Danzo headed toward the Rear Mountain.

"I want to go with Shiso!"

Before Akaba could finish voicing his thoughts, the others had completely vanished from sight.

Well, genin have no rights.

This was how it always went — juniors stuck with big shots ended up doing all the grimy, backbreaking work, only to have it called 'training' in the end.

"Akaba, there are passing merchants ahead. You go protect them."

After following the border line north from the hilltop, they reached a trade route. Danzo stopped and pointed toward the Land of Whirlpools.

"Fine."

Since it was something he'd already predicted, there was no reason to be surprised when it happened.

Akaba walked forward along the trade road until he soon reached the border between the two countries.

A border line was drawn here.

In the distance, several carts and a group of people were shouting while fleeing toward the Land of Fire.

Judging by the markings on the caravan, this was clearly a convoy from the Land of Whirlpools. However—

"That's... Lady Mito's mark?"

Akaba's gaze sharpened as he noticed the subtle family mon on the lower right corner of the convoy's flag — none other than Mito Uzumaki's own crest!

"Hurry, hurry, escape into the Land of Fire!"

"Forget the goods, just save yourselves!"

At this moment, the merchant leader abandoned everything, panicking and rushing toward the border.

Figures moved rapidly behind them, silhouettes swiftly darting through the trees like ghosts.

Ninjas!

Akaba's face grew serious.

He'd covered long distances and taken lives over the past couple days, but this would be his first real ninja battle — and he still didn't know just how strong these shinobi were.

"Should I find Danzo?"

"No, he must be around somewhere. If he doesn't plan to intervene himself, searching for him would be useless and only delay rescue time."

Time was of the essence. Akaba didn't hesitate.

Clutching kunai dipped in ink-dye, he hurled them outward, splattering the battlefield like a canvas of war.

The narrow path, the woods—within a few breaths, it was all done. Then drops of black ink fell onto the paper, fine lines carefully refined, and a human figure emerged.

"I'm in! I'm safe!"

At the moment they crossed the boundary line, many had already been drained of all strength, collapsing to the ground.

Yet—

In the next instant, dark shadows flew rapidly from the distant forest. Shuriken shot forth, showing no mercy just because they'd entered the Land of Fire.

"Ahhh!"

"Run for it!"

Hearing the screams of pain, the team leader turned back and, in horror, noticed that those ninja still hadn't stopped their pursuit.

Right then, Akaba completed his painting.

[Five Senses Manipulation]!

Within the painting, drifting leaves transformed into deadly blades, slicing through several ninja's throats.

At the exact moment he cast the technique—

A sharp needle-like pain struck his head. The intensity rivaled the sensation when Shadow Clones dispel.

Meanwhile, the pursuing ninja suddenly bled violently from their throats.

"Guh... guh..."

There was no time for screams—only pure survival instinct and terror remained.

"What just happened?"

"A ninja master intervened!"

"Was it a Konoha ninja?"

Instantly killing several powerful ninja—within these caravan members' minds, it could only mean help had arrived from Konoha's experts.

Akaba pondered briefly, formed hand seals, and used the Transformation Jutsu to disguise himself as an Anbu Black Ops member before leaping down from the tree.

"You're a Senju clan caravan?"

Clearly recognizing the Anbu attire, upon seeing Akaba's arrival, everyone immediately relaxed and began recounting the events in detail.

"We are the trade caravan between the Uzumaki clan and Konoha. Here is our travel token."

They presented the token.

Akaba accepted it, inspecting it carefully.

This token looked nearly identical to the one given by Mito Uzumaki. The only difference was that theirs bore the emblem of both the Uzumaki and Senju clans, while Akaba's was marked with Mito Uzumaki's personal jutsu seal.

Yet—

At that very moment, kunai flew in from the direction of the Land of Whirlpools, each trailing explosive tags behind them.

Among the trees, Akaba spotted a terrifying pair of eyes.

Just a single glance sent a thought surging through his mind—Jonin!

Immediately using the Substitution Jutsu to escape, he swiftly formed hand seals and released a Genjutsu.

[Narakami no Jutsu]!

The Sakuma clan was unmatched in genjutsu within Konoha. Yet Akaba's illusions were acquired through the system, giving him unparalleled skill. Even if the opponent was a jonin, he fell victim instantly.

[Wind Release: Great Gust]!

A simple C-ranked ninjutsu, but in Danzo's hands, it became incredibly formidable.

A gale erupted, sweeping up every kunai and deflecting them backward. At the same time, Danzo vanished, appearing instantly at the enemy's location.

"Just a Genin... how?!"

"Not good!"

The jonin instantly dispelled the illusion, yet simultaneously, during the break, he sensed an approaching presence drawing near.

Then—

One slash. Blood spilled across the woods.

The next second, Danzo reappeared. His body remained unstained, but his blade was already drenched red.

"Teacher!"

Akaba exhaled in relief,

"If even a jonin showed up, then their reach truly extends far!"

Danzo's eyes burned with murderous intent.

The daimyo's conflict with the Land of Whirlpools was none of Danzo's concern. But now, these men had dared attack a caravan clearly marked with the Senju clan's symbol—that wasn't just an issue between two nations anymore. It involved Konoha's honor.

The merchants on the ground had fainted, but fortunately, none were in danger of their lives.

"Sensei, who were they?"

Akaba pressed his temples. Using genjutsu against a jonin had drained him more than he expected.

"From Mist. Rogue ninja."

Danzo remained silent for a moment before flicking the blood from his blade and returning it to its sheath.

Akaba hesitated briefly, then understood.

The Land of Whirlpools was surrounded by sea on three sides, facing across the water to the Land of Water.

"As expected. They wouldn't leave behind any evidence," Akaba added with a bitter smile.

Shinobi from the hidden villages always made sure there was no proof left behind—especially those from Kiri. They'd never make a mistake like this.

"Let's go back first. The others might have encountered someone too."

Danzo's expression turned serious.

They had killed one jonin and several chunin here. It was unlikely anyone else would come. And those merchants had only been frightened into unconsciousness—they would wake soon enough.

But what truly worried him now was the situation elsewhere. Even though there was a Multiple Shadow Clone over there already, if a jonin had appeared here…

He truly was worried now.

Over there were the two young prodigies of Konoha—their future hope!
