Naruto: I Draw Power Into Reality

Chapter 64: Chapter 64: The Eyes of Uchiha

"The Sharingan... I'm afraid it's going to stir up major trouble with the Uchiha."

Mito Uzumaki sighed.

She couldn't understand Akaba's reasoning. He knew exactly how dangerous the Uchiha were, yet he still wrote stuff that was practically asking for a death sentence.

Once Volume Three dropped, the Uchiha would undoubtedly fly off the handle.

She was hesitating whether to suppress the manuscript in her hands and prevent Volume Three from being published.

"Ah well, young people's affairs are hard to comprehend. Let him be."

After much deliberation, Mito Uzumaki ultimately didn't hold back the manuscript, instead following Akaba's suggestion by printing the second volume completely before sending someone to deliver the printed copy to the arms factory.

Akaba wasn't aware of Mito's inner conflict, but he could confirm she'd already read these five chapters since points had been credited to his account.

The additional three hundred points plus his original one hundred meant he now had four hundred and ten points.

Four hundred points weren't worth much at the moment.

Currently available options for exchange included only the Sharingan, Semi-Sage Body Constitution, Water Clone Jutsu, Water Prison Technique, Water Dragon Bullet Jutsu, and Great Waterfall Technique.

This version of Water Dragon Bullet was out of the question—it required too many hand seals. His hands would be sore after using it.

As for the Great Waterfall Technique,

It might be powerful, but required five hundred points.

With a regretful clack of his tongue, Akaba chose Water Clone Jutsu and Water Prison Technique instead.

[Water Prison Technique] offered both offensive and defensive utility—extremely useful for him. [Five Senses Manipulation] used painting as its medium—only one hand was needed for that, leaving the other free to maintain the Water Prison Technique.

After exchanging for the Water Prison Technique and Water Clone Jutsu, he casually exchanged for another six points in Physical Strength, raising his Physical Strength stat to an even thirty.

"Huh, reached Chunin evaluation already."

Now, Akaba noticed his level had reached the "Chunin" tier.

Still, he didn't feel any noticeable changes—it seemed like nothing more than a rank upgrade.

"Aren't you going to care about what happens next?"

While he studied things, the drawing clone beside him couldn't help asking.

"What's there to care about?"

"Forget it. Guess you deserve to be single."

The clone gave a quiet chuckle before adding, "Have you figured out how to handle the Uchiha?"

"Not yet. I'm planning to have a heart-to-heart talk with my teacher."

Akaba replied straightforwardly.

"Tch."

A light laugh, then the clone fell silent again.

To prevent Anbu eavesdropping, deeper discussions stopped right there.

Akaba stood up, preparing to head toward Anbu headquarters.

In theory, after finishing Lady Kyoyuki's matter, he should've visited Danzo immediately.

But once lying on the bed, he became lethargic, staying down until afternoon when he finally mustered some energy.

Downstairs, Kyoyuki got along quite well with her adoptive parents.

Though she still couldn't quite bring herself to call them "dad" and "mom," the elderly couple was delighted regardless.

Smiling slightly, Akaba notified them, "I'm going out to see my teacher."

"Okay."

"Brother, be careful on your way."

"Mm."

So just like that, he'd gained a little sister.

Feeling slightly sentimental, Akaba walked slowly onto the street heading toward Danzo.

Passing through the manga shop, he saw many people entering and exiting carrying comics.

Konoha was buzzing with business—it helped ease the disappointment from his failure back in the Land of Whirlpools.

Not long after leaving home, Akaba reached a secluded spot when a figure suddenly landed before him.

"Sakuma Akaba, Danzo requests your presence."

Black clothing and mask—this was an Anbu member.

"Oh? Nightdance, you joined Anbu now?"

Akaba greeted lazily.

Instantly, the atmosphere turned deathly silent.

"Cough... cough... You actually recognized me?" Nightdance couldn't help but mutter in frustration.

"Your voice still needs more disguise." Akaba shrugged lightly as a simple reminder.

There was no need to question Nightdance's strength—he had entered Anbu training, after all. His disguise wasn't too bad either. The problem ultimately lay in his weak constitution, making his voice sound listless and breathless. With that familiar tone, it was only natural someone could quickly guess who he was.

"Fine then, follow me," Nightdance said.

Gekko Nightdance wasn't yet a formal Anbu ninja; currently, he was undergoing a probationary evaluation.

Walking side by side, one ahead and one behind, they soon arrived outside the Anbu headquarters.

"Danzo is just ahead. You can go in alone."

After pointing out the way, Gekko gave a slight nod and vanished using a hand seal.

Traversing the cave passage and rounding a corner, he was suddenly met with blinding sunlight!

Stepping out of the cave, Akaba felt a slight shock in his heart.

Anbu facilities usually had harsh environments—underground, prisons, or caves—but here, nestled among majestic mountains, the scenery was refreshingly serene and utterly unlike Anbu's typical style.

"This is..."

"You seem surprised," Danzo appeared soundlessly. Skilled in swordsmanship, Wind Release techniques, and assassination arts, concealing footsteps and chakra came naturally to him.

"No, I just didn't expect Anbu's location to be this beautiful," Akaba managed a strained smile.

"No, this isn't Anbu. This is Root."

Akaba almost blurted something out but stopped himself at the last moment, instead asking hesitantly, "Root?"

"The tree of Konoha appears prosperous on the surface, but beneath lies countless roots buried underground—this is my philosophy, and this place is Root's experimental ground."

Danzo continued walking deeper into the compound as he spoke, surprisingly patient. Clearly, he had been waiting for Akaba all along.

"Teacher, why are you telling me all this?"

Akaba felt uneasy. Experience taught him that knowing too much could get you killed.

"You came here because of the contents of Volume Three of that manga, didn't you?"

Danzo pulled out a book from within his sleeve.

Glancing at it, Akaba realized immediately this wasn't the original copy—it must've been a printed edition Danzo had somehow stolen.

He gave a half-hearted laugh. "Nothing escapes my teacher's eyes."

"What made you go after it, knowing the danger?"

Danzo sneered coldly.

"No, I only ask you not to interfere or stop me," Akaba shook his head.

"You want to test the Uchiha? Why?"

"Because I'm curious," Akaba simply replied. "I wonder what happens when a Uchiha's eyes end up within outsiders. Will their abilities remain? Are there side effects? Is the power weaker compared to the original version? These are all things I want to know."

...

Danzo remained silent, continuing forward step by quiet step.

The two walked from the cave entrance into the basin. At this moment, Akaba truly laid eyes on Root's training base.

It was quite small, accommodating no more than a dozen people at most.

So things aren't going well for Danzo right now, and his power is nowhere near what it will become later, Akaba mused inwardly.

At this moment, Danzo broke the silence, continuing, "Your thinking is dangerous."

"That's why I just want to test the waters. After all, it's only in my mind; I haven't taken any real action," Akaba replied.

"For the Uchiha, you've already insulted their bloodline."

Danzo gave a soft, scornful laugh. "They're an emotional and extreme clan. They're certainly capable of doing such things."

He harbored no goodwill toward the Uchiha clan—at most, a deep sense of aversion.

Part of this hatred stemmed from himself, but most of it came from the Second Hokage, Senju Tobirama—the very man who had closely monitored the Uchiha clan and was also Danzo's teacher.

"Black-and-white emotions... Seems my teacher knew something dark and hidden."

"You can proceed as you like. If the Uchiha leadership tries anything reckless, I'll help you."

Danzo didn't directly answer his question but instead decisively brought the matter to a close. "Moving forward, there will be a price to pay."

"It's an honor to assist you, Master."

A deal was struck!
