Naruto: I'm Really Not an Evil Uchiha!

Chapter 67: The Priestess’s "Prophecy of Death"

"Don't forget who arranged for you to be on the same team as Kakashi. I can put you in, and I can just as easily kick you out."

Shimizu's shameless declaration echoed through the air.

In truth, he had no authority over Rin Nohara's placement on Minato's team nor any power to remove her. Her assignment had nothing to do with him.

But Rin was unaware of this, and his intimidation still worked to some degree.

"You!"

Rin's eyes widened slightly, a disbelieving laugh almost escaping at his audacity.

Shimizu was utterly shameless and insatiably greedy.

To gain entry to Minato's team, Rin had already agreed to assist him with his ophthalmology research. Yet he continued leveraging the threat of expulsion to coerce her further.

"What's wrong? Think you can't handle it?"

Shimizu moved closer, reducing the distance by mere centimeters. Rin instinctively recoiled.

"I'll call for help!"

Her mouth opened, lips vivid under the dim light, poised to shout.

"Go ahead."

To her surprise, Shimizu didn't retreat. Instead, he edged even closer.

Rin was bluffing—if she had intended to shout, she would have already done so. The fact she hadn't meant she didn't dare.

Shimizu had long since deciphered Rin's psyche, enabling him to manipulate her for so long.

"We've already kissed once, so what difference does a second time make?"

His voice dropped to a whisper, brushing close to her ear.

"Besides, even if you manage to make a scene, Minato-sensei might just think I'm a bit of a pervert."

"Perhaps you don't realize—Minato-sensei has a teacher too, and he's done far worse things, spying on countless women. If not for his status as a ninja, he'd be in prison by now."

"Don't think I don't know—that's Lord Jiraiya, and he's leagues better than you."

Rin retorted coldly.

No matter Jiraiya's flaws, he would never stoop to Shimizu's level.

Ignoring her remarks, Shimizu unfurled a sealing scroll, meticulously reviewing its contents.

After a minute, he concluded his examination. The experimental data matched his calculations, confirming Rin's integrity.

"Good. From now on, follow my instructions. But we still need to address your earlier attitude."

Shimizu's eerie Sharingan spun slowly, and Rin felt a chill as her body became immobilized.

The physical capabilities of people in this world were vastly different from her past life's standards—muscles denser, bodies fueled by chakra. By earthly standards, Rin already had the physique of an adult woman.

Her wide eyes trembled, teeth sinking into her lower lip.

Despite her inner turmoil, Shimizu's genjutsu rendered her motionless.

She could only watch as he drew closer.

Feeling the warmth of his proximity, her eyelids involuntarily lowered, long lashes quivering as the night breeze swept through.

Land of Demons

At the base of the mountain, closely grouped courtyards encircled a grand central hall.

Even at night, the place was illuminated brightly.

Armored guards wielding longbows patrolled diligently, safeguarding the esteemed priestess.

Inside the hall, Miroku tossed restlessly on her bed, eyes tightly shut and brows furrowed.

Tall and graceful, she was clad in a thin white silk robe that clung to her figure, accentuating her curves.

Fragrant herbs burned continuously in an incense burner, filling the room with a soothing aroma.

"Ah!"

Suddenly, Miroku's vivid purple eyes snapped open as she gasped for breath.

An indescribable fear reflected in her gaze.

"Who was that man?"

She murmured softly, recalling the dream.

A handsome man with crimson eyes, surrounded by a blazing fire dragon, bearing the emblem of the Uchiha clan.

In her vision, her childhood companion—the Daimyo of the Land of Demons—had perished at that man's hands.

"No, my prophecies have never been wrong. What should I do?"

Her long, smooth hair cascaded past her waist as she pressed a hand to her forehead.

Priestesses throughout history had possessed a unique ability called the "Prophecy of Death." None of these visions had ever been mistaken.

The only way to escape fate for those marked by the prophecy was to stay far away from the priestess.

But how could she push away her childhood friend, the Daimyo of her country?

The Following Morning

At dawn, the horizon glowed faintly under a vast gray sky.

Four figures journeyed steadily forward.

"Rin, what happened to your lips?"

Kakashi's curious question caught Rin off guard. Her lips were still slightly swollen.

Minato Namikaze instinctively turned his head to observe as well.

Feeling their gazes, Rin tensed but forced a smile.

"Last night, I got tired of ration pills and had some snacks that were too spicy. That's why my lips look like this—it'll go away soon."

"I see. Let's keep moving."

Minato redirected his focus to the journey, urging the group onward. They would reach their destination by noon.

Six hours later, they finally arrived at the Land of Demons.

Minato presented Konoha's credentials, and the guards promptly escorted them to the daimyo.

"Honored guests from Konoha, please rest and dine to ease the fatigue of your long journey."

Seated in the hall's center, the daimyo wore a black robe and traditional crown, reminiscent of Heian-period attire.

He gestured for servants to bring chairs and tables laden with exquisite dishes.

"This is simply our duty, Lord Daimyo," Minato replied courteously.

The Daimyo had paid them generously, and given the looming threat of Moryo, their aid was well justified.

"Mind your manners in the presence of the Daimyo."

Though Minato trusted his team, he reminded them to avoid any diplomatic missteps. The group sat to dine.

Rin discreetly took in the opulent hall, her awe evident as her movements became slightly stiff with nervousness.

Minato and Kakashi, accustomed to such settings, remained composed.

Shimizu dined calmly, unfazed by the grandeur.

To him, the Land of Demons was merely a small tribal chiefdom. Despite the crisis depicted in Naruto: The Death of the Hero, the true threat was Moryo—unrelated to the daimyo's kingdom itself.
