Chapter 38: CHAPTER 38
"Wood Release?!"
The Big Violent Shark was shocked. Wasn't this kind of ninjutsu supposed to have vanished with the First Hokage? How could it appear again? Could this kid be from the Senju Clan?
Panic crept in.
The shadow of the tree, the legacy of a name, and the unmistakable power of Wood Release—"the God of Shinobi" left behind a fearsome legend that still echoed through the ninja world, even decades after his death.
But the Big Violent Shark's momentary fear turned to action.
"Water Release: Iron Cannonball!"
With rapid hand seals, the Big Violent Shark fired a compressed water bullet, shattering the large wooden structure Yamato had summoned.
He blinked in surprise. His instincts told him to run, yet something made him stop.
It actually broke? He had expected to merely withstand the Wood Release technique—but to completely neutralize it?
Is this really the legendary power said to have suppressed the entire ninja world?
Staring at Yamato's youthful figure, the Big Violent Shark smirked. The boy looked barely ten. Even if he had inherited Wood Release, how much power could he really wield?
Confidence surged back into him.
"This is supposed to be Wood Release? Pathetic!"
But neither Kakashi nor Yamato flinched at the provocation. Both were too composed to react emotionally to such taunts.
"All the members of the Iburi clan... did you kill them?" Kakashi asked coldly, breaking his silence.
"Ah, that smoke-wielding bunch? Yeah, I drained them all. They kept trying to move during the procedure, which was annoying. Easier to kill them and collect the blood afterward. Their blood's not even worth much... except maybe that little girl behind you. She looks like perfect test material."
Kakashi's grip tightened around Raikiri. He had long accepted the harshness of the shinobi world—but this blatant disregard for life still sickened him.
"Wood Release: Cutting Sprigs Technique!"
Yamato acted swiftly, aiming to eliminate the threat and protect Yukimi.
His arm transformed into vines that snaked rapidly toward the Big Violent Shark. Pressing his palms together, Yamato pushed more chakra into the jutsu, intending to crush the man with sheer pressure.
"Tch."
The Big Violent Shark scoffed. His muscles bulged, and a blast of blue chakra erupted from his body, shredding the wooden restraints with brute force.
"Your level of Wood Release is nothing to me. Be a good boy and die!"
"Damn it!"
Yamato slammed his fist into the ground. Blood dripped from his knuckles, his face twisted in frustration. He had never felt so weak, so utterly incapable.
Yukimi crouched beside him. "Tenzō, don't lose heart."
"Sorry, Yukimi... I'm useless."
She shook her head gently.
"No, you're not. You just have to believe in yourself."
Yamato was momentarily stunned, then nodded. "You're right. I won't give up."
"Aww, how touching," the Big Violent Shark mocked, sliding a finger across his palm. "But touching won't keep you alive."
Kakashi had heard enough. He stepped forward, blade in hand. Everything he needed to know had already been confirmed. This enemy had to be stopped.
A Water Release user? Perfect.
He slashed with Raikiri.
The Big Violent Shark quickly parried with a kunai, steel clashing with steel.
"Not bad strength..."
But Kakashi ignored the compliment. The words of a murderer held no value to him.
He struck again—this time with his foot.
Konoha Whirlwind!
The Big Violent Shark's eyes widened. Too fast!
The blow sent him crashing into the cave wall, cracking it wide open.
Yamato and Yukimi stared in astonishment.
"So strong..." Yamato murmured. This silver-haired youth had clearly grown even more powerful.
Kakashi calmly withdrew his foot. Though he hadn't activated any of the Eight Gates, just training in the method had significantly improved his physical capabilities.
Originally gifted in taijutsu, Kakashi's enhanced strength was now fully apparent. The results exceeded expectations.
Still, this wasn't enough.
As expected, the Big Violent Shark rose, shaking dust from his shoulders.
"Silver hair, one eye, and a blade... You must be Hatake Kakashi—the one Lord Orochimaru mentioned. I should've paid closer attention."
He coughed. Kakashi's earlier strike had clearly left some internal damage.
Interesting, Kakashi thought. So even Orochimaru is warning his subordinates about me?
The Big Violent Shark was rattled. A Wood Release user and that Kakashi? This fight wasn't in his favor. Worse yet, there was no water source nearby—making Water Release much harder to use effectively.
He needed to escape.
But Kakashi was already closing the gap.
Knowing better than to engage in close quarters again, the Big Violent Shark formed seals and inhaled deeply.
"Water Release: Wild Water Wave Barrage!"
Dozens of high-speed water bullets launched from his mouth, kicking up massive clouds of dust and shrouding the field in chaos.
"Aghh!"
Kakashi momentarily lost visibility and inhaled dust, coughing harshly.
"Perfect."
The Big Violent Shark narrowed his eyes and produced a needle-like instrument, dashing toward Yukimi—intent on extracting her blood.
But Kakashi wasn't down yet.
In a blur, he was at her side again—launching another powerful kick.
The Big Violent Shark reacted just in time, raising both arms to block the blow.
Kakashi smirked.
"Close enough."
Chidori!
A roar of lightning exploded from his hand. The brilliant blue arc engulfed him, bursting forth with incredible force.
"ARGHH!"
The Big Violent Shark screamed as the electricity coursed through his body, sending him flying.
The surrounding dust was blown away instantly, revealing the scene with perfect clarity.
Yukimi stared in disbelief at the sight before her.
The Big Violent Shark twitched violently on the ground, overcome with paralysis.
"Is... is it over?"
She looked on, stunned. This monstrous killer had fallen in mere minutes under Kakashi's assault.
The power gap was staggering.
Yamato, too, was left speechless. He stared at Kakashi—this man was truly terrifying.
