Naruto: Kurotsuchi Mayuri

Chapter 21: Chapter 13.1 : Eight Inner Gates!!

Konoha Hospital.

A man dressed in a strange outfit—a green jumpsuit—stood nervously, watching as Kagetsu checked a young boy who looked like a smaller version of him, also wearing a green jumpsuit and sporting a bowl cut.

"There's nothing serious, just overtraining. His body is overworked and has reached its limit," Kagetsu concluded after finishing his examination.

The medical record listed the names Might Duy and Might Guy, clearly marked as father and son.

"Is it really okay?" Might Duy sighed in relief but still asked with concern.

"His body is handling training that it shouldn't be at this stage. If this continues, it will greatly affect his future physical development," Kagetsu said, a bit shocked by the condition of Might Guy's body.

The way he had pushed himself to the absolute limit, draining every bit of his potential, left his body fragile and empty.

Even medical-nin find it hard to sustain such extreme training without causing long-term damage.

"I know, but Guy and I are not geniuses. We don't have any natural talent. If we want to become ninjas, we can only focus on taijutsu. Other than the taijutsu I know, I can't teach him any ninjutsu." Might Duy's face was filled with guilt.

"It's okay, Father. I'll keep training in taijutsu and become a ninja!" said Might Guy, weakly getting up from the bed. "I can still train with you, Father!"

"Did he push himself this far because of some demanding taijutsu?" Kagetsu knew about the forbidden technique this father and son practiced, but instead of mentioning it outright, he asked carefully.

"It's nothing much. It's a forbidden technique that pushes the body to its limits, called the Eight Gates. To use it, you need a body that can withstand constant extreme strain," Might Duy admitted openly.

"Can I take a look at this technique?" Kagetsu asked without hesitation. He was honest, saying, "Maybe after studying it, I can help you with your training, using medicine and medical ninjutsu to keep your bodies as healthy as possible."

"If you don't trust me, I can even ask my teacher, Orochimaru, or Lady Tsunade, who taught me medical ninjutsu, to help."

Kagetsu didn't try to trade for some other ninjutsu, knowing that the father and son clearly lacked talent in ninjutsu. Even if he gave them a high-level technique, they wouldn't be able to use it.

The best way to help them was by addressing their current problems, even if only partially.

He was genuinely interested in the Eight Gates, a technique known for its impressive results, but had no intention of learning it himself.

The fact that it was labeled as forbidden already showed how dangerous and difficult it was. In the original story, it was clear that this technique wasn't about talent—it was about relentlessly pushing yourself to the limit for years, honing your body through sheer willpower.

In other words, it's a technique that requires unwavering determination, demanding more than a decade of constant, extreme training just to use it once at its peak!

Might Duy and Might Guy never treated the Eight Gates as a secret to be guarded. After all very few ninjas were willing to dedicate every single day to physical training and pushing their limits.

Take Kakashi, for example. He learned the Eight Gates, but in the end, his body could only handle opening the first gate. But could anyone say Kakashi wasn't talented?

"No problem! Here's the scroll that records the Eight Gates." As expected, Might Duy didn't hesitate and handed Kagetsu the scroll.

As a well-known student of Orochimaru, Kagetsu's reputation had spread throughout the Ninja Academy. He no longer needed to attend classes, except for exams, since he was receiving personal training from Orochimaru.

Might Guy was one of the students who had heard about this and had mentioned it to his father.

"I'll write a few prescriptions to help with recovery and strengthening your body," Kagetsu said, taking the scroll and immediately jotting down several prescriptions for them.

He instructed them to use his name at the Nara clan's pharmacy, where they could get the medicine, and he would cover the cost.

Writing a prescription to strengthen the body and improve health wasn't difficult, especially for the Nara Clan, who had a vast collection of such remedies.

After all, the Nara Clan often needed supplements, and the Akimichi Clan frequently relied on medicine to adjust their physical conditions.

"Consider this a reward for giving me the Eight Gates technique. As a genin, even if you take on missions non-stop, it would still be hard to constantly afford all the medicine needed for such intensive training," Kagetsu said as he handed over the prescription, worried that Might Duy might refuse.

Might Duy clearly understood the issue. He glanced at the bedridden Might Guy, then gratefully looked at Kagetsu and tightly held the prescription in his hand.

Later, when his chakra was fully depleted, and it was time to rest, Kagetsu hid in a corner and opened the scroll that contained the Eight Gates technique.

The scroll displayed a diagram of the human body's Chakra Pathway system, marking the locations of the Eight Gates: Gate of Opening, Gate of Rest, Gate of Life, Gate of Pain, Gate of Closing, Gate of Joy, Gate of Shock, and Gate of Death.

It was filled with dense, tiny text, followed by Might Duy's personal understanding and explanations. In terms of depth, it wasn't too difficult to grasp.

Understanding the human body and its Tenketsus was the biggest hurdle in mastering this forbidden technique. Everything else depended on time and effort.

However, the reason it was considered forbidden was because of its great danger. It wasn't just about training hard for twenty years to open all the gates. Without a special, resilient body, the strain would likely cause your body to collapse long before reaching the final gate.

Though death might be avoided, the possibility of becoming crippled was very high.

Kagetsu was interested in reading this technique to understand its principles and see if it could inspire any new ideas for him.
