Naruto: Linked to Kaguya, Corrupting the Ninja World

Chapter 97: Chapter 97: A Second Chance at Life

Inside the study of the Snow Country Palace...

Yugao pulled several blueprints from a hidden compartment inside a book.

"These should be the most valuable things left behind by Kazahana Doto," she explained. "They were designed by scientists and engineers—war machines capable of carrying weapons across sea, land, and air."

"Some had already begun construction, but I ordered them halted."

Hiroki took the designs and studied them carefully.

They were plans for basic flying crafts, ground vehicles, and warships.

"Remove all weapon systems and convert everything for civilian use," he instructed.

Yugao continued, "The engineers mentioned two energy options—one uses electric-heat power, while the other relies on chakra..."

Before she could finish, Hiroki interrupted firmly. "Go with electric-heat."

"According to the engineers, using chakra would slightly extend their lifespan..."

Hiroki smiled. "It's a cycle of breaking down and getting fixed—that way, people will always have work to do."

"Whatever. It's not like I'm paying for it," Yugao shrugged indifferently.

"The Snow Country should develop into an industrial hub, while the Hot Springs Country focuses on entertainment and tourism due to its abundance of natural hot springs. The Frost Country has no distinct features—it serves more as a transitional zone."

"The Snow Country will attract many workers, while service personnel in the Hot Springs Country are too easily replaced. Workers are far more stable..."

"Just discuss this with Santa Asama and others—he's worried about excessive population loss in the Snow Country." Yugao felt her head pounding.

Although she had taken the initiative to learn civil affairs in order to support Fuyuka, her background as a ninja still showed through. She lacked governance experience, and refined cultural understanding didn't come naturally or quickly to her.

That evening fell quietly.

A shadow slipped silently into Hiroki's room.

Inside the dimly lit room, the windows were shut tight and the curtains only half-closed, allowing silver moonlight to spill across the wooden floor through the glass panes.

The figure lying in bed had their eyes closed.

She stared at him deeply, as if making a final decision.

The object in her hand caught a glint of moonlight as she slowly moved closer.

Just as the blade was about to pierce his chest, Hiroki suddenly shot out his right hand and grabbed it. A sharp cut sliced open his palm, but the downward force was stopped.

Hiroki sat up and opened his eyes, staring directly at the person holding the kunai—Izumi Uchiha.

"Your footsteps are too heavy, your breathing is disordered—you're already a ninja, yet your assassination skills remain so poor," he mocked.

Izumi Uchiha's face turned pale, her dark eyes flashing with panic.

Hiroki looked at her calmly. "Your eyes can see only one future, while mine can perceive infinite possibilities."

He tightened his grip. The kunai twisted, turning sharply until its edge pressed against Izumi Uchiha's own throat.

Izumi Uchiha seemed to lose all her strength the moment the kunai touched her skin. Her hands loosened, as if she had exhaled in relief and closed her eyes.

Hiroki hesitated for a moment, snatched the kunai from her hand, and only carved a piece of flesh off her shoulder.

"This is your second chance at life."

After saying that, he directly kicked her onto the ground.

Izumi squatted there, looking helpless. Her face twisted between tears and rage. Facing his direction, she screamed, "Why did you save me?"

"Do you want to die?" Hiroki tore off a strip of cloth and wrapped it around his right hand. "But those who should be dead… are still alive!"

"Itachi Uchiha destroyed the Uchiha Clan. The only surviving Uchiha clan members now are him, Sasuke, and you—who have already publicly died!"

"Sasuke is his younger brother—the one he loved most, the one he deliberately spared, the one who lived because of that love! Don't expect him to grow into someone strong enough to challenge Itachi."

Hearing the destruction of the Uchiha Clan described so vividly, Izumi's mind felt like it exploded. She shook her head continuously, muttering over and over, "Impossible… this can't be…"

"You never really understood that person," Hiroki said with a light laugh, stepping forward and placing the earlier kunai into her palm. "Why torture yourself for someone else's mistakes?"

Then, he lifted her chin, forcing her to make eye contact with him. "Go kill him—kill Itachi Uchiha. This is the mission you must bear."

Izumi's eyes darkened without light, as though she had lost everything.

Blood stained the kunai red, slicking her palm with warmth. As if throwing away something vile, she hurled the kunai to the ground and pushed Hiroki away in disgust.

"Stay away from me!"

Hiroki remained remarkably calm watching her run out, disheveled and defeated. "You can't escape," he murmured.

"You're getting weird," Kaguya said flatly.

"Am I?" Hiroki smiled.

However, Kaguya couldn't see his facial expression; she simply offered a silent smile of her own.

Early the next morning, Hiroki went to meet with Snow Country's engineers to finalize the plans for modifying transportation across sea, land, and air.

Izumi Uchiha stepped out of her room.

At that time, Yugao and Fuyuka Kazahana were enjoying their breakfast.

Izumi walked toward them.

"You finally woke up; come eat breakfast with us," Yugao invited.

Izumi gave her a look, drew the long blade hanging on the wall, and pointed its sharp edge straight at Yugao's forehead. "Are you under *that man*'s command?"

"*That man?*" Yugao replied calmly, "In a way, yes."

"Then you shall die." With cold eyes, Izumi directly overturned the table, scattering the food onto the floor.

Yugao could barely suppress her twitching brow.

What a waste! No wonder the Uchiha clan got on everyone's bad side.

Another fight? Thinking this, Fuyuka silently chose to leave the scene.

Yugao sighed and swiftly drew a guard's long sword, saying coldly, "Go outside."

At a training ground.

Izumi Uchiha activated her [Three-Tomoe Sharingan].

"Your Sharingan is impressive, but I won't fall for your genjutsu again," Yugao said.

Not that line again!

Recalling certain painful memories, a shadow of grief flickered across Izumi Uchiha's eyes. Without a word, she charged straight at Yugao Uzuki and attacked.

She used the Uchiha Flow's [Sword Jutsu].

Yugao calmly defended herself.

However, she began to notice Izumi Uchiha's sword techniques mirroring her own.

"That Sharingan sure is handy—you're trying to copy me again? Too bad just mimicking the moves without the strength behind them makes every hit slower and weaker."

While fighting back, Yugao still had time to give commentary.

Izumi Uchiha remained silent.

After over ten minutes, just as Yugao Uzuki had predicted, her body grew shaky and hard to control.

She had no choice but to drive her blade into the ground to steady herself.

"You hurt yourself before you hurt others—just proves you brought it on yourself."

With a cold snort, Yugao struck her with the sword's hilt, knocking her unconscious, then carried her back to the inner palace.

Konoha.

"Hokage-sama, we've lost track of her," an Anbu Ninja knelt on one knee to report.

Hiruzen Sarutobi nodded and signaled him to withdraw, while thinking about why Hiashi Hyuga had taken so many elite clan members away from Konoha.

Just then, another Anbu Ninja appeared. "Hokage-sama, that person has left the village on a mission."
