Chapter 20: Chapter 20: "The Price of Defiance"
The Glacial Pit – Descent into Chaos
The collapse plunged Team 7 into a cavern of jagged ice, the walls alive with Haku's laughter. Naruto's golden chakra flickered, illuminating the terrified faces of the rebels as ice golems scaled the pit's walls, their hollow eyes glowing with malevolent blue light.
"Form ranks!" Alternate Sakura barked, her ice claw shattering a golem's skull. "Protect the scrolls!"
Sasuke clutched the stolen ice-mirror scrolls, his poisoned arm trembling. Black veins crawled up his neck, the ice shard in his pocket whispering: "Burn them… burn everything."
"Naruto, get us out!" Sakura shouted, deflecting a barrage of ice senbon.
"I'm trying!" Naruto's hands phased through reality, golden light sputtering. He grabbed Kakashi's arm, teleporting them halfway up the pit—only to rematerialize inside the ice wall.
"Stop!" Kakashi yanked free, his arm crystallizing. "You'll get us killed!"
"Too late," Alternate Sakura muttered.
Above, Haku peered into the pit, his reflection warped across a hundred ice mirrors. "You steal my art… now become my masterpiece."
The Torture of Defiance
The golems retreated. Silence fell—then screams.
Alternate Sakura hung suspended in a cage of ice, her body pierced by crystalline spikes that driated her chakra into the floor. Haku circled her, trailing a senbon along her jaw.
"You could have been queen of this ruin," he crooned. "Instead, you'll die a beggar."
"Go… to hell," she spat, blood frosting on her lips.
Haku's senbon plunged into her ice claw, shattering it. "You'll beg for death before I'm done."
Flashback:
Alternate Sakura, years younger, stood before Zabuza, defiance burning in her eyes. "I'll never serve you." Zabuza smirked, nodding to Haku. "Break her." Haku's first cut was gentle, almost kind. "Pain is a teacher," he whispered. "Learn well."
"Stop!" Naruto's roar echoed through the pit.
"Ah, the bridge arrives." Haku turned, ice spreading from his feet. "Shall I carve your name into her bones?"
The Unstable Rescue
Naruto's scar erupted, gold chakra melting the ice beneath him. "Let. Her. Go."
"Or what?" Haku flicked a senbon. Alternate Sakura screamed as ice encased her lungs.
Naruto teleported in a burst of light—but his body fractured mid-leap, half-phasing through Haku's mirror.
"Pathetic," Haku sighed, driving a spike of ice into Naruto's shoulder. "All that power… wasted on mercy."
Alternate Sakura's choked voice cut through the pain: "Destroy… the core…"
Naruto's hand closed around the ice-mirror scrolls Sasuke had dropped. "How?!"
"Use me," she mouthed.
The Sacrifice
Alternate Sakura's remaining arm glowed with stolen chakra, the spiral brand on her chest burning. "The core… it's me."
Realization struck: Zabuza had fused her chakra with the tower years ago, making her the living key.
"No!" Naruto reached for her, but his hand passed through her fading body.
"Do it!" she screamed. "Or everything burns!"
Haku lunged, but Kakashi's Lightning Blade intercepted him. "Now, Naruto!"
Naruto slammed the scrolls into the ground. Golden light and ice collided, the tower trembling as Alternate Sakura's chakra surged into the core.
"Fix your world," she whispered, dissolving into ash. "Don't… become… us…"
The Collapse
The tower exploded in a storm of ice and gold. Naruto teleported the team to the bridge's ruins, his body flickering like a dying star.
Zabuza's roar shook the earth: "YOU'LL PAY FOR THIS, BRIDGE!"
But the Ōtsutsuki's golden eye above the rift pulsed, its gaze fixated on Naruto.

In the ashes of the tower, Sasuke knelt, the ice shard fully embedded in his palm. The black veins reached his eyes, his Sharingan now fractured with gold.
"Power… at last," he whispered, as Zabuza's voice answered from the shard:
"Welcome home, Uchiha."
