Naruto: My Bedroom Connects to Rin Nohara 14 Years Ago

Chapter 18: Rin's World, Kakashi and Obito

In the 45th year of Konoha, outside a simple and modest single-family house.

"Bang, bang, bang…" Suddenly, a sharp knock on the door echoed, waking Kakashi, who had just fallen asleep.

"Rin? What brings you here so late at night? Is it a mission?" Kakashi quickly got up and opened the door, only to see Rin standing outside, breathing heavily, her expression anxious.

"There's no time to explain, Kakashi. I need a training method for the Earth-Style Wall—the more detailed, the better."

"Earth-Style Wall?" Kakashi frowned slightly, confused by Nohara Rin's sudden request.

As far as he knew, Rin didn't possess Earth Release chakra. Why would she need detailed notes on an Earth-style jutsu?

Could someone be forcing her? But it was just a B-rank Earth Release jutsu—commonplace in the ninja world, without any real strategic value.

Still, this was wartime. Any abnormal behavior could signal the start of an enemy plot. He had to be cautious and quietly investigate to ensure Rin's safety.

A flurry of thoughts flashed through Kakashi's mind in an instant. He nodded calmly and gestured for Nohara Rin to come inside.

"Earth-Style Wall is a basic B-rank Earth Release jutsu. I didn't leave notes when I trained in it, so I'll have to write everything down from memory. Wait a moment..." Kakashi pulled out a blank scroll and began writing, frowning in concentration.

"Training notes? You still remember all that?" Nohara Rin asked in surprise, but quickly shook her head. Now wasn't the time for questions.

"I only have half an hour. Please, Kakashi."

Considering that in her trip from home to Kakashi's and back, she had only about forty minutes left. She needed to be quick if she wanted Ishikawa to receive the materials during the time-space connection.

"Half an hour? That's more than enough." Kakashi paused, a flicker of intrigue in his eyes, then resumed writing swiftly.

Though he wasn't sure what was going on, he still noted down all his understanding and training insights in detail. It was just a B-rank jutsu—there was no reason to hold back or risk Rin's safety over something like this.

More than twenty minutes later, just as Rin was growing increasingly anxious, Kakashi finally rolled up the scroll and handed it over.

"Thanks, Kakashi..." Rin grabbed the scroll, offered a quick word of gratitude, and turned to run out the door.

Time was pressing. She still wanted to grab the door handle and 'boost' herself before the connection ended!

"It's about time I learn Shadow Clone. I'll ask Minato-sensei for training tomorrow." Rin muttered to herself with determination as she raced through the quiet night streets.

Unbeknownst to her, a silent figure followed from the shadows...

A few minutes later,

"Bang..."

The door opened and closed. Nohara Rin stepped into the room, only to see Ishikawa sprawled across the sofa, limbs twitching uncontrollably.

"So this is why you bought a sofa…" She saw through his intention instantly and chuckled.

Grinning, she stuffed the scroll into Ishikawa's arms, gently moved him to the floor, then dragged the sofa away without hesitation.

"Next, you focus on the Earth-style Wall. I'm borrowing this for a while."

Ishikawa: ??

Are we that close? That was so blunt...

But when he felt the scroll clutched in his arms, Ishikawa had zero complaints.

Instead, he was practically bursting with excitement.

Earth-style Wall was just a pretext. Even if he failed to master it, it wasn't a big deal.

His true goal had been to test Rin's reaction, instill a sense of urgency, and establish a foundation for future information exchanges.

That's right—an exchange. As the saying goes: There are no eternal friends, only eternal interests.

--

Ishikawa was not naive enough to bet his entire future and life on Rin's character, expecting to win over Nohara Rin just because she was Kakashi's disciple.

That wouldn't just be foolish, it would be completely brain-dead.

If Nohara Rin could sacrifice herself for the sake of Konoha, then what reason was there to believe she wouldn't sacrifice him for Konoha or even the entire world?

That's why Ishikawa had to remain realistic and grounded.

The ninja world was filled with passion and bonds, yes—but conspiracy and darkness were just as vivid and ever-present...

While Ishikawa was daydreaming, a figure outside the door leaned silently against the wall, listening intently!

'No sound? Lin should be the only one inside. Did I guess wrong? Then why did she seem so anxious? What's really going on?' Kakashi narrowed his eyes in thought.

After a moment of hesitation, he decided not to act recklessly and instead concealed himself in the shadows to observe.

Time passed slowly under Kakashi's focused watch. But even as dawn broke, he found nothing suspicious.

Nohara Rin woke up as usual, washed up, and headed off toward the Minato Team's gathering point with a calm expression, showing no signs of abnormality...

"Now." The moment Rin turned the corner of the street, Kakashi, who had waited the entire night, swiftly sneaked into her room.

For a ninja, door locks were practically decorative—they meant nothing.

Kakashi carefully inspected every potential hiding place, checking every detail. But after a thorough sweep, he found nothing unusual.

The only possible clue was that the scroll he had given her was gone.

"Did I misunderstand Rin after all?" Kakashi frowned, doubting himself for a moment. Then, upon seeing the time, he quickly restored the room to its original state and hurried to the team's gathering point.

A few minutes later—

"Kakashi, I didn't expect you to be late! What happened to your 'elite ninja who always follows the rules' nonsense? Looks like that was all talk!" The moment Kakashi appeared, Obito wasted no time mocking him.

His joy was unmistakable. After all this time, he wasn't the one who got scolded for being late—and even better, it was his rival Kakashi who slipped up!

To him, this was nothing short of a victory.

"Idiot," Kakashi responded with his usual cold stare and walked past him, heading straight for Nohara Rin, who was just about to smooth things over.

"Rin, could you double-check the scroll I gave you last night? I wrote it in a rush, and I'm worried there might be some mistakes."

"Ah? Um… I don't have it with me." Nohara Rin smiled awkwardly, but quickly added, "I already gave it to a friend. It was at his request that I came to you last night. There's no need to double-check it. I trust your skills, Kakashi."

"...I see." A faint flicker passed through Kakashi's lone visible eye, but he said nothing more.

Still, a quiet unease began to stir deep inside him. A friend? Did she give it away on the way here? Then who exactly was that friend? And why did they need Earth-Style Wall training insights, yet hide their identity from him?

Based on the scroll's content, the person must be a Konoha ninja—possibly a relative, or at the very least, someone Rin trusted deeply.

In any case, it didn't seem to be an enemy spy, as he had feared earlier.

"Wait—last night? A scroll??" Obito, who had been eavesdropping and watching the exchange, was suddenly filled with rage and jealousy.

"What secrets are you two hiding from me?"

How could Rin meet with Kakashi alone in the middle of the night? And for a so-called 'friend'? Damn it! Who is it? Who the hell is that bastard!!
