Naruto : Ninja school teacher, I can become stronger by teaching

Chapter 17: Might Guy Proves Himself

At noon, in the office, various teachers discussed what they had witnessed during the exams.

"That Hyuga Kado from Class 4-1 is amazing! As expected of a Hyuga clan ninja, almost no one in his class can last a minute against him," Ike Taniyuki said with some envy. "He'll probably be the top student in practical combat this year again."

Ike Taniyuki wished he was the homeroom teacher for Class 4-1 instead of Class 4-2. That way, bonuses would be easy to get, and he'd have money to take his blind date to a high-end restaurant. But that was impossible; with such good academic performance, changing teachers was out of the question.

"Not necessarily. I think that Uchiha Obito in your class is quite good too; he might even contend for it," Kimura Sanjin interjected.

Ike Taniyuki looked puzzled and asked, "Sanjin, did you get the name wrong? You mean Uchiha Tekka, right? His strength is indeed good."

"How could I get the name wrong? It's Uchiha Obito," Kimura Sanjin stated, indicating that he was young and didn't have senile dementia. He was indeed talking about Uchiha Obito.

"Uchiha Obito? Impossible! What strength could he possibly have?" Ike Taniyuki looked at Kimura Sanjin suspiciously, doubting he was serious. Uchiha Obito was famously known as the Uchiha clan's dead-last. If he really had strength, how could he have such a nickname?

"Am I going to lie to you? Uchiha Obito's opponent in the first match was the Uchiha Tekka you mentioned, and he won very decisively," Kimura Sanjin continued. Seeing that Ike Taniyuki was still somewhat unconvinced, Kimura Sanjin directly pulled Muyue into the conversation, saying, "Teacher Muyue and I supervised together. If you don't believe me, ask him."

Ike Taniyuki looked at Muyue. Muyue nodded and said, "It's exactly as Teacher Kimura said. Uchiha Obito defeated Uchiha Tekka in the first match."

"Eh, well, that's truly strange," Ike Taniyuki scratched his head, finding it incredibly hard to believe. He believed Muyue's words; after all, he was Teacher Muyue, who had earned the recognition of all teachers in just one month of employment—he couldn't be more reliable.

"Why was he able to defeat Uchiha Tekka?" Ike Taniyuki racked his brain but couldn't figure out why things had turned out this way. What about the promised dead-last? How did he defeat the previous class's top student? It couldn't possibly be that some mysterious teacher descended from the heavens to secretly teach him advanced ninjutsu.

Looking at Ike Taniyuki's reaction, Muyue thought to himself, Just Obito showing his strength makes you this confused. If Might Guy shows his strength too, he'll probably suspect he's under a genjutsu. Ike Taniyuki pretty much won by doing nothing this time. Muyue estimated that his bonus was probably secured.

Muyue thought about it; Ike Taniyuki wasn't entirely a free rider; he did contribute. Because Ike Taniyuki often asked him to substitute, which helped him take in disciples and earn rewards, he had some credit. Plus, he genuinely treated him to many meals, so he was a sensible person.

"Teacher Hanyu's class is truly impressive," Ueda Aya, who had been silent, spoke up. She was supervising Muyue's Class 1-1.

"The overall level of their Three Basic Jutsu feels almost on par with the second-year class I teach," Ueda Aya lamented. "Especially one super genius named Uchiha Shisui. He reminds me of Hatake Kakashi from a few years ago. This year's first-place in the first-year practical combat will definitely be him."

"Can he really be compared to Hatake Kakashi? Is it that exaggerated?" Ike Taniyuki asked, surprised. First place in the grade didn't matter as much, but being comparable to Kakashi was terrifying. Kakashi was widely recognized as a super genius at the ninja academy in recent years, and his subsequent performance was also very impressive, directly becoming a Chunin one year after graduation.

"It's that exaggerated. He's simply not on the same level as other first-year students," Ueda Aya nodded.

"That's too awesome, Teacher Hanyu, you're so lucky! Getting excellent ratings will be easy," Ike Taniyuki said enviously. Why didn't he have such luck? He'd be content just to keep his bonus.

"What luck? It's because Teacher Hanyu teaches well. That overall level, you can't possibly say all the talented students ended up in Teacher Hanyu's class, right?" Ueda Aya corrected him. She didn't believe Class 1-1 had this strength because there were many geniuses, but rather because Muyue's teaching ability was excellent. Otherwise, why would students in the classes he substituted for wish for Muyue to come more often? It wasn't just one or two classes; all the classes he substituted for gave him rave reviews.

"Slip of the tongue, slip of the tongue. Of course I know Teacher Hanyu is good. My students wish I was busy every day so Teacher Hanyu would teach their class."

As he spoke, Ike Taniyuki felt a bit depressed. He only occasionally let Muyue substitute; most of the time, he taught himself, but the students all preferred Muyue.

"It's fine, the students themselves are just very diligent," Muyue said humbly.

After chatting with his colleagues for a while, Muyue quickly began practicing calligraphy until the afternoon exams began.

It was still Training Ground 16, but there were far fewer people than in the morning. This was because the exam didn't force students who had already lost to continue participating; they could decide for themselves whether to come or not.

As time passed, battle after battle took place. Rin Nohara, who wasn't very skilled in combat, was eliminated in the first round of the afternoon. Meanwhile, Might Guy, who cleanly and decisively defeated every opponent he faced, finally caught everyone's attention.

"So, Might Guy's taijutsu is that strong? His speed is too fast; he defeated Daisuke with one kick!" the observing students exclaimed in surprise.

"Such a huge change. I remember he was just 'decent' in the third year, not this strong," a student who knew Might Guy was somewhat confused. "Maybe he trained harder during the summer break and the new semester?" That was the only possibility he could conjure up.

"The final battle, number one Uchiha Obito versus number forty Might Guy. Examinees, please prepare to begin the battle," Muyue announced the roster for the final battle of the class practical exam.

Might Guy and Obito looked at each other when they heard, and quickly walked to the examination area, ready to begin their fight.

"Guy, I won't be giving this first place to you," Obito glanced at Rin, who was standing outside, and his fighting spirit instantly soared. In front of Rin, he truly didn't want to lose at all.

"The same goes for me. If I'm to become the strongest, I must seize every first place I can!" Might Guy replied with high spirits.

"They actually made it to the very end," the student who had mocked them earlier felt a little embarrassed. They found it unbelievable; just in their third year, they were the two dead-last students, and who would have thought they'd become so strong in their fourth year? Before the exam started, who would have dared to think this? Everyone assumed Uchiha Tekka would be the class's practical combat first-place winner. They couldn't imagine how intensely these two had trained during the break and the new semester.

After their pre-battle taunts, Might Guy and Obito fell silent. They stood opposite each other, forming the 'Confrontation Seal'.

"Begin!"
