Naruto : Ninja school teacher, I can become stronger by teaching

Chapter 30: An Attempt at a Cultivation Mission

Muyue first had Obito try tree climbing.

In the forests on the eastern border of Konoha, there's no shortage of trees. Trees over ten meters tall are everywhere, and much taller ones are also abundant.

Muyue casually pointed to a twenty-meter-tall tree and had Obito try to gather chakra at the soles of his feet to climb it.

Obito nodded, then took a deep breath, gathered chakra at his feet, and rushed up.

Obito went up about ten meters in one go, then accidentally lost control of his chakra on the next step, leaving a footprint on the tree and falling down.

Muyue jumped up and caught Obito, silently nodding to himself. Although it wasn't at Asuma's level, it was still decent; at least he didn't fall after just a few steps.

There wasn't much to say about this training; it was simply a matter of persistent practice, with no special techniques.

After demonstrating a few times to Obito, Muyue left a shadow clone to watch, letting Obito practice on his own, while his main body went to find Might Guy, who was training his physique.

Among Muyue's three disciples, Might Guy's training regimen could be said to be the most monotonous and boring.

When Obito got tired of taijutsu, he could cast a few ninjutsu to change his mood, but Might Guy's training was either practicing Leaf Hurricane or strengthening his physique.

Physical training wasn't something that happened overnight; this was an area where Muyue's teaching skills were powerless.

His teaching skills could help Might Guy learn taijutsu faster and improve his taijutsu in a shorter amount of time, but they couldn't accelerate the effects of Might Guy's physical training.

The training effect gained from one push-up was still just one push-up.

When Muyue approached Might Guy, Guy was doing push-ups with a rock almost as big as himself on his back.

"Guy, how's your Leaf Hurricane coming along?" Muyue asked.

He wanted to test the trigger conditions for cultivation missions, and Might Guy, who had a trust level of three, just like Obito, was the best choice.

Hearing Muyue's words, Might Guy stopped his movements, maintaining his body still as he replied, "It's a little faster than during the exam, but not fast enough".

After answering, Might Guy removed the rock and stood up, then quickly kicked out a remarkably swift Leaf Hurricane at a nearby wooden stake.

Muyue nodded; compared to before, there was indeed some improvement, his kicks were more sharp and decisive.

It should be that he gained something from his battle with Hyuga Homura.

Physical training couldn't show results that quickly; improvements in physique usually took at least a month.

"How do you think you can improve your strength?" Muyue asked a question that confused Might Guy.

"By training, of course," Might Guy immediately stated what was on his mind.

He found Muyue's question a bit strange; to become stronger, it was certainly through persistent training.

Muyue shook his head and asked again, "Training can make you progress, and it's the most important part of gaining strength, but are there any other methods?"

Might Guy scratched his head, then thought of his improving Leaf Hurricane, as well as the practical combat exams in the Ninja Academy, and suddenly a light bulb went off in his head: "Combat!"

"That's right, combat is also an important part of improving strength. In combat, you can better convert your training results into your own power," Muyue smiled.

"The combat I'm talking about isn't like the battles you and Obito had before; those weren't normal battles".

"To improve, you must challenge strong opponents and engage in honorable combat with those you wish to challenge".

Listening to Muyue's words, a person gradually appeared in Might Guy's mind.

That person had white hair, always wore a mask, and was a famous super genius of Konoha.

There was no second name; it was Hatake Kakashi, Might Guy's self-proclaimed eternal rival!

Having improved his strength after training with Muyue, Might Guy had long harbored the idea of challenging Kakashi, but he had been suppressing it.

He wanted to wait until he had completely mastered the Leaf Hurricane taijutsu before challenging Kakashi. However, now Might Guy changed his mind; would he definitely defeat Kakashi once he completely mastered the Leaf Hurricane? Not necessarily.

Would he be afraid of one failure? No.

Then why not fight Kakashi? It could also improve his strength better.

"Teacher Muyue, I understand," Might Guy said solemnly.

Looking at Might Guy's face, Muyue probably knew his guidance had worked. With Might Guy's drive, he might even go find Kakashi tonight.

However, to Muyue's regret, a cultivation mission named "Defeat Kakashi" did not appear.

"What other conditions are there?" Muyue wondered.

From the perspective of the original Naruto story, Might Guy at this time definitely had a strong "desire" to defeat Kakashi.

The title of super genius, the identity of a rival—Might Guy had too many reasons to want to defeat Kakashi.

Carefully recalling the details of Obito triggering the cultivation mission, Muyue discovered a problem.

Obito's attitude was pleading, and his words expressed that he absolutely needed Muyue's help; he could only accomplish it if Muyue taught him an imposing Fire Style jutsu.

"Does achieving the result have to include a necessary need for the teacher?" Muyue speculated.

If so, then it made sense that Might Guy didn't trigger a cultivation mission just now.

Just now, at most, Might Guy had his passion for challenging Kakashi ignited by Muyue; he probably wasn't thinking about what would happen without Muyue's help.

With a rough guess, Muyue didn't probe further. He would wait until Might Guy failed his challenge against Kakashi before acting.

At that time, he would let his defeated disciple feel the warmth of his teacher.

After finishing his teaching, Muyue went to his house in the main city district.

After dinner, Muyue first went to the park where he had previously met Minato and Kushina.

Lucky for him, Muyue met Kushina and Minato there again.

Perhaps people nearby preferred to come here, as the two weren't surprised to see Muyue.

"Oh right, you left too quickly last time, I forgot to ask something," Kushina suddenly remembered something and asked.

"Did the Third Hokage ask you to be a tutor, and did you agree?"

Muyue nodded.

"I heard that child is a bit rebellious, and doesn't listen to the Third Hokage. Will he listen to you?" Kushina asked curiously.

Muyue smiled and told them how he trained Asuma.

Kushina didn't know how Asuma felt about being taught, but she found it quite amusing to listen to.

Especially when Asuma tried to slack off and rebel the next day but was tricked into training until he was exhausted, which made Kushina exclaim that the shrewd Third Hokage could actually have such a foolish son.

Minato was also surprised by Muyue's teaching approach, how he could make even unwilling students cooperate and complete their training.

Muyue didn't just talk about himself; he also asked Minato and Kushina some things, and the conversation atmosphere was very harmonious.

Muyue felt that after spending some time together like this, becoming friends, he could then casually show his interest in fuinjutsu and cursed seals.
