Chapter 46: Yin Release Chakra Nature Transformation
Kakashi appeared on the stage in a flash.
"Kakashi, go for it!" Nohara Rin cheered for Kakashi.
Seeing Kakashi use the Body Flicker Jutsu just to get on stage, Obito felt Kakashi was really showing off, and he decided he'd have to learn the Body Flicker Jutsu too.
"Contestant Hatake Kakashi is no ordinary person; he is a famous genius of Konoha. I believe this is your second time participating in this competition, isn't it?" The host introduced a bit more because of Kakashi's fame.
"Mm." Kakashi nodded indifferently, saying nothing more, maintaining a cool demeanor.
"Contestant Hatake Kakashi, what ninjutsu will you be performing this time?" the host asked.
"Earth-Style Wall," Kakashi replied.
After the host stepped back, Kakashi quickly performed hand seals, and his chakra surged.
"Earth Style: Earth-Style Wall!"
As Kakashi used the ninjutsu, the ground shook, and then an incredibly thick, massive wall slowly rose behind Kakashi.
"This level of Earth Style ninjutsu..." The judges stared at the long and thick Earth-Style Wall, deep in thought.
For a ninjutsu of this caliber, he would definitely have given a perfect score before, but now that there was already one perfect score, wouldn't another perfect score mean two first places?
The judge thought for a moment, then finally raised the card with 'ten' written on it. He figured he'd leave this problem for the organizers to worry about.
"This guy is as abnormal as ever." Asuma wasn't surprised by Kakashi's strength.
"To defeat Kakashi when he uses ninjutsu, I still need to work harder," Might Guy recalled the battle where Kakashi went all out.
That time was almost a complete rout; aside from a surprising hit with the Leaf Hurricane, he had no chance to fight back afterward.
Seeing one of the judges give a ten, Obito felt a bad premonition. If Kakashi also got a perfect score, then who would be first?
"Ten points, ten points, ten points. Contestant Hatake Kakashi's total score is thirty points! Unbelievable! This is the second perfect score in today's competition, and the first time there have been two perfect scores since the competition began!" the host exclaimed.
The quality of contestants in this competition was surprisingly high, with two perfect scores appearing. Even someone of Uchiha Tekka's level would have been enough to win first place in the previous competition.
"Such bad luck." Uchiha Tekka was a bit depressed; he had thought he could win first place, but now he was squeezed down to third.
Yet, he was genuinely convinced by his losses, because the ninjutsu performed by Kakashi and Obito were indeed powerful.
"If only you participated, Shisui, you'd definitely get a perfect score too," Uchiha Tekka said.
He had confidence in Shisui. Although he was two years older than Shisui, he admitted he was no match for him.
Shisui smiled but said nothing. He hadn't had any strong feelings about this competition to begin with, and since Obito wanted to get first place so badly, he was even less inclined to participate.
"Satisfied now? If you want to defeat me, train for a few more years," Kakashi said to Obito as he walked off the stage.
"What are you being so arrogant about? Everyone got thirty points, and I got mine earlier than you, so technically I won," Obito retorted, unconvinced.
"You got thirty points because that's all you
could get. I got thirty points because thirty points was the maximum," Kakashi said calmly.
"You..." Obito couldn't argue with Kakashi, and his face started to turn red.
"Alright, you're both very strong, no need to argue," Nohara Rin said with a helpless smile, standing between the two.
Near the competition venue, the organizing merchants began to discuss. "How did we end up with two perfect scores this time? How do we determine the ranking now?"
"How about a tie-breaker? Let them use other ninjutsu and compete again?" one merchant suggested.
"That would certainly make it easy to determine first place, but it might not be a good idea. One of them is still a student; mastering even one Fire Release ninjutsu to this extent is already very impressive," another merchant felt it was inappropriate.
"Can't they just share first place?" A voice suddenly interjected.
The merchants found the voice unfamiliar, then realized that a blond-haired man with a forehead protector had appeared beside them at some point.
"You could also use a double first-place as a gimmick for discount celebrations to attract more people to shop," Muyue suggested with a smile.
"That's a good idea!" The merchants thought about it and found Muyue's suggestion very appealing.
One of the purposes of holding this competition was to increase foot traffic in the commercial street. If it could attract more people to buy things, that would be even better.
Even a little extra profit would cover it, as the first-place prize money was only eight thousand Ryo after all.
"Esteemed ninja, do you have any thoughts about opening a shop here?" A shop owner, feeling Muyue had a good business mind, invited him.
"No, I'm just an ordinary passing Chunin. This competition of yours is very good; it can encourage the village's youth to train more actively," Muyue praised before leaving.
If Obito and Kakashi had a tie-breaker, Obito would definitely not be able to win against Kakashi.
For Obito's first place, he really went to great lengths, doing everything he could. He hoped the reward wouldn't disappoint him.
In the subsequent matches, there were no more perfect scores like Obito's and Kakashi's, and not even scores higher than Uchiha Tekka's. The highest score achieved was only twenty-three points.
After all the contestants had finished their demonstrations, it was time to announce the rankings.
"Uchiha Obito, first place; Hatake Kakashi, first place; Uchiha Tekka, second place..." The host announced the top three.
Muyue's suggestion worked. Obito and Kakashi shared first place, effectively a draw.
"You got lucky this time. Next time, I'll definitely beat you," Obito, having secured first place, excitedly declared.
"When your strength is as hard as your mouth, maybe you'll be able to do it," In terms of sharp wit, the current Kakashi was far beyond Obito's reach.
Fortunately, with the first-place prize in hand—a beautiful silver-plated kunai and eight thousand Ryo—even though he couldn't out-argue Kakashi, Obito was still very happy looking at his rewards.
The moment the rankings were announced, Obito's training mission was settled.
[Disciple Uchiha Obito's training mission completed, rewards obtained: Chakra +800, Ninjutsu Mastery Scroll, Yin Release Chakra Nature Transformation (Proficient)]
Seeing the rewards pop up, Muyue showed a look of satisfaction. Such rich rewards made his twenty days of effort worthwhile.
Eight hundred chakra points—that would require forty B-rank evaluations if he were grinding classes.
The Ninjutsu Mastery Scroll was also a good item, capable of instantly raising a mastered ninjutsu to proficient level.
As for the Yin Release Chakra Nature Transformation, it was Muyue's most satisfying reward, making him even happier than the eight hundred chakra points.
Yin and Yang, these two special nature transformations, are very difficult to cultivate. The moment he received the reward, many memories of cultivating Yin Release chakra nature transformation suddenly appeared in Muyue's mind.
Muyue opened his panel and began to check his stats.
