Chapter 54: Chapter 54: You Must Practice Taijutsu Well
On Friday morning, in the classroom of Class 1, Year 1 at the Ninja Academy.
The students were discussing how to approach their taijutsu class later.
"Should we still act like we did last class?" a student asked.
"Not today. According to what Teacher Muyue said yesterday, the taijutsu teacher definitely exaggerated our actions in taijutsu class when telling Teacher Muyue," Kamizuki Izumo deduced.
"With Teacher Muyue's personality, he might just help all the way and come to supervise during the taijutsu class."
"I'm really fed up with that taijutsu teacher; it's the first time I've heard of a teacher reporting students," Hagane Kotetsu complained. And not only did he report them, but he also added his own spin, which was even more exasperating.
"Today, let's just give Teacher Muyue some face and not try to make him quit," Kamizuki Izumo said.
The students felt that Kamizuki Izumo made a lot of sense and decided to treat the taijutsu class like Muyue's class.
"This taijutsu teacher is truly annoying," Anko Mitarashi said with a frustrated look. His poor taijutsu teaching caused her to be criticized by Muyue, and then he went and reported bad things about her to Teacher Muyue.
The students in Class 1 nodded in agreement. Tanimura Toshihiro's actions successfully caused their favorable impression of him to plummet to rock bottom.
After the class bell rang, Tanimura Toshihiro entered the classroom. Seeing the students quietly sitting in their seats without speaking, Tanimura Toshihiro breathed a sigh of relief. However, he didn't lower his guard, as the students hadn't shown such strong aggression at the beginning of the last class either.
"Everyone, let's go to the training ground and run three laps to warm up," Tanimura Toshihiro said with a low cough.
The students all followed Tanimura Toshihiro's instructions, went downstairs to the training ground, and began running. No one discussed Tanimura Toshihiro. After running, Tanimura Toshihiro began teaching taijutsu forms. After teaching them twice, he let the students practice freely. During this time, not a single student spoke ill of Tanimura Toshihiro. The calm made Tanimura Toshihiro feel as if this class was not the same group of students as the last.
"I really must treat Teacher Hanyu to a drink," Tanimura Toshihiro thought to himself, grateful to Muyue. He knew the reason for all this change; Muyue must have intervened, otherwise, the students' behavior wouldn't have been so different.
Just then, Muyue passed by the training ground as Tanimura Toshihiro had requested. Muyue greeted Tanimura Toshihiro and stayed on the training ground for a short while.
At the end of class, Kamizuki Izumo said triumphantly, "I told you, didn't I? Teacher Muyue would definitely come."
"So, we won't take action anymore?" a student asked unwillingly. The more Muyue helped Tanimura Toshihiro, the more annoyed they became with Tanimura Toshihiro.
"Of course not. Teacher Muyue isn't free every day; we can continue our actions next class," Kamizuki Izumo said.
…
In Class 2, Year 4, Rin Nohara looked at Obito Uchiha, who was scratching his head and solving problems beside her, and asked worriedly, "Obito, what's wrong with you lately? You seem so diligent, studying whenever you have time." While it was a good thing to study so diligently, Obito's sudden passion for theory made Rin a little worried.
Hearing Rin's words, Obito's pen paused, and he felt an urge to cry. Was he diligent and loved studying? No, this was the bitter fruit of not practicing taijutsu well! There was a price to paying in installments for problems; for example, if there were originally ten problems, paying in installments might turn it into eleven. This meant that while Obito didn't have to do a lot each day, he needed to do problems every day. What was even worse was that training happened every day, which meant he was accumulating new problems daily and constantly paying in installments. However, he couldn't finish them all at once; he felt it would be very painful and would also affect his training.
"Because everyone's grades are improving, I can't fall behind either," Obito said with a forced, stiff smile. He certainly wouldn't say the shameful reason that he was punished with problems because his taijutsu wasn't good enough.
"It's great that you think that way. I feel like you've grown so much all of a sudden," Rin Nohara said with a look of relief and a smile. From his initial late enrollment, Rin had always looked after Obito like her own younger brother. Seeing Obito now ranking among the top in practical combat and starting to pass in theory, Rin was truly delighted.
"Haha, is that so?" Obito heard Rin's praise, and his originally stiff smile was like withered grass receiving water, quickly becoming natural again. With the added boost of Rin's praise, Obito's speed in solving problems increased by several points; he even felt he could pay off tomorrow's installment in advance.
"It's almost vacation again, Obito, what are you planning to do this weekend?" Rin asked.
"Wait, is it already Friday today?" Cold sweat broke out on Obito's forehead. These past few days, he had lost track of time due to taijutsu training and various problems.
"Yes, we'll be on vacation after this class. Aren't you happy, Obito?" Rin asked with a smile.
Upon receiving Rin's affirmative answer, Obito couldn't help but feel his vision darken. From Monday to Friday, they only needed to train from after school until before sunset. But weekends were different; weekends meant training from morning until sunset. A large amount of training time meant more battles with Might Guy, and more battles meant more problems. Obito could almost see countless problems and test papers surging towards him, engulfing him.
"Obito, what's wrong? You look a bit unwell. Do you want me to take you to the infirmary?" Rin asked, seeing Obito's grim expression.
"It's nothing, I'm just too happy about the vacation," Obito said, forcing a smile. "Yes, I'm very happy. Training so long during the vacation means a great improvement in strength, and then I'll get first place in the whole school and earn Rin's admiring gaze." Obito had already begun to hypnotize himself in his mind.
"Promise me, Rin, you must practice taijutsu well," Obito couldn't help but say.
"Mhm, I know. Taijutsu is very important," Rin nodded, not comprehending the pain in Obito's words.
After school, Obito went to the training ground in the Southern Forest. Might Guy had arrived before Obito and had already started exercising. The two exchanged glances, both seeing the desire to win in the other's eyes. Both knew very well what the weekend meant for them. This was no joke; a slight misstep would lead to countless problems.
"If I had the Sharingan, I could definitely do it!" For the first time, Obito yearned so strongly to awaken the Uchiha clan's kekkei genkai. The Sharingan possessed powerful dynamic vision, allowing one to easily see through an opponent's movements. He had a premonition that after this weekend, the number of problems he'd have to do could be directly spread out until the end of the semester.
"Absolutely can't let that happen!" Obito fiercely punched the training dummy. On the other side, Might Guy was also silently lifting a huge rock, doing squats to train his thigh muscles. He not only didn't want to pay for problems in installments but also wanted to get first place in the grade.
Muyue watched as both of them trained with full motivation, a satisfied smile on his face. If they continued training in this state, in a month, Hyuga Homura wouldn't be their match.
