NARUTO: Ninja World Scientific Revolution

Chapter 160: CHAPTER 160 - Aftermath of the Nine-Tails Incident II

As sunset approached, Konoha remained shrouded in grief. The devastation left by the Nine-Tails had claimed far too many lives—shinobi and civilians alike. Thousands of families had lost loved ones, and just managing the aftermath, from counting the dead to consoling the bereaved, had taken an entire day.

At the Hokage Building, representatives of the various clans had dispersed after negotiations. The Nine-Tails' rampage had destroyed a significant portion of Konoha, including many clan estates. The meeting had largely focused on redistributing land and restructuring clan territories.

Most clans were satisfied with the results—after all, they had suffered greatly through no fault of their own. Compensation was only fair.

However, two men left the Hokage Building with grim expressions: Uchiha Fugaku and Hyuga Hiashi.

The Hyuga Clan's relocation was relatively minor; their territory had merely been moved several kilometers outward from its original location. While they were now further from Konoha's center, they could accept the decision. After all, Hyuga Mirai had long been branded a traitor, and his involvement in Minato's death had only further complicated things. In the grand scheme of losses, their displacement was more a matter of collateral damage.

But the Uchiha… their situation was far worse.

The entire Uchiha Clan had been pushed to the outskirts of the village—so far out that they were now adjacent to Konoha's prison, teetering on the edge of being exiled from the village altogether. The official reasoning? It was supposedly for their own good.

Proximity to the prison, they were told, would allow them to oversee its security. Given the Uchiha's numbers, they had been granted an expansive area for their new compound. On the surface, it seemed like an act of consideration. In reality, it was anything but.

They were being cast out.

The village feared the Uchiha. They feared that the Sharingan's influence over the Nine-Tails meant it could happen again. And so, they were being pushed away—isolated.

Fugaku seethed with anger, but there was nothing he could do. Every other clan had agreed to the plan, even the displaced Hyuga. What could the Uchiha do? Fight both the village leadership and every other clan at the same time?

'If the clan finds out about this, there's no telling what kind of chaos will erupt. I need to keep them calm… for now.'

But deep down, Fugaku knew this was only the beginning. If he yielded once, what was to stop Konoha from pushing further? How long before they were backed into a corner with no way out?

---

At Konoha Hospital, after resolving the clan negotiations, Hiruzen Sarutobi and the village elders made their way inside.

Kushina Uzumaki remained in the emergency ward, along with her newborn son, Naruto.

She could have named him Namikaze Naruto, but after long deliberation during her treatment, she chose to have him bear her surname instead.

It was the only way to ensure her son had a path forward.

"How is she?"

The gathered medical personnel exchanged glances before one of them, a senior medic named Kimura, stepped forward.

"Naruto is in stable condition. The sealing formula worked without issue, and his vitals are normal. He's already been fed and is resting peacefully. However… Kushina's condition is far more concerning."

Hiruzen frowned. "What's wrong with her?"

"It's bad," Kimura admitted. "To be honest, no one at Konoha Hospital knows how to treat her."

Seeing the Hokage's deepening concern, she continued, "Ordinarily, when a jinchuriki has their Tailed Beast extracted, they die. Kushina should not have survived. But from our examination, it appears that her cells have been infused with some kind of new life force. Additionally, the sealing marks on her body contain an unknown chakra—powerful, and constantly leaking energy to sustain her."

"But we don't know if this method of healing has any long-term side effects, and we can't risk tampering with it. The only option is to find a more skilled medical specialist to assess the situation."

A more skilled medical specialist…

Konoha had once had two. Now, there were none.

"I understand," Hiruzen said gravely. "I'll have the ANBU begin searching for Tsunade immediately." Then, with a pause, he asked, "How much time does she have?"

Kimura hesitated. "It's hard to say. Her cells are deteriorating five times faster than normal. If not for the unknown chakra sustaining her, she would already be dead. At best, she might have a month. Beyond that… I can't guarantee anything."

It was an advanced sealing technique being used as a form of medical ninjutsu, far beyond their understanding. Yet, there was something about it that seemed… familiar.

Kimura couldn't shake the feeling that she had seen a technique like this before. But that was impossible—after all, the only person she knew who could manipulate seals this way had long since been declared a rogue ninja.

Still, she had been too busy treating patients to learn the full details of the attack. And as just the hospital's deputy director, she wasn't privy to sensitive information.

---

Once Kushina and Naruto were moved to a recovery ward, Hiruzen and the three advisors entered.

They needed answers.

A knock at the door was met with Kushina's weak but clear voice. "Come in."

Hiruzen stepped inside, his expression laced with guilt. "Kushina… I'm sorry. I should have been there sooner."

He truly regretted it. Minato had been his chosen successor, a leader he had placed his hopes in. Yet barely two years into his tenure as Hokage, he had died because of the Nine-Tails.

"I've dispatched the ANBU to find Tsunade," he continued. "Once she returns, you'll be in good hands."

Kushina managed a weary smile—one so fragile it looked more like a grimace. "I understand, Lord Third. None of this was your fault. It was the enemy's doing."

Hiruzen nodded but then sighed. "I know this is difficult, but we need to ask you about what happened that night. Can you tell us everything?"

She had expected this. Without hesitation, she recounted everything—from the attack during her labor to the moment the Nine-Tails was extracted.

But when she mentioned a single name, the room fell into heavy silence.

Madara.

The moment she uttered it, the advisors visibly stiffened.

They had all lived through Madara's era. They had witnessed firsthand his battles with the First Hokage. Only one man had ever gone toe-to-toe with the God of Shinobi and lived to tell the tale.

If it truly was Madara…

"That's impossible," Danzo scoffed. "If he were still alive, he wouldn't have fled from the Fourth Hokage. The man who attacked you was likely just an Uchiha using Madara's name."

Hiruzen slowly nodded in agreement. "The Madara we knew would never have worn a mask. And he certainly wouldn't have retreated so easily."

The real Madara had attacked Konoha before, leading the Nine-Tails through the front gates in an all-out assault. He was not the kind of man to skulk in the shadows.

It was more likely that an Uchiha had taken up the name, using it as a cover to manipulate the situation.

The Sharingan in the Nine-Tails' eyes was undeniable proof—whoever it was, they were Uchiha.

Hiruzen's gaze darkened. "Danzo, have your forces investigate the Uchiha immediately."

Danzo's eyes gleamed. "Of course."

Then, after a pause, Hiruzen turned back to Kushina.

"There's something else," he said carefully. "Have you thought about Naruto's future?"

"He is Minato's son. If you'd like, I can take responsibility for raising him and training him in ninjutsu."

Before he could finish, Kushina interrupted.

"Thank you for your kindness, Lord Third," she said, her tone firm. "But I will raise Naruto myself."

Hiruzen blinked in surprise.

She met his gaze with quiet determination. "This is my way of passing on what I've learned. While I still have time, I want to teach him everything that Mito-sama once taught me."

Silence filled the room.

The Third Hokage and his advisors had nothing left to say.

Because, in the end, who could possibly guide Naruto better than the previous jinchuriki of the Nine-Tails?
