Chapter 171: CHAPTER 171 - Acquiring the Tenseigan
As it turned out, Hyuga Mirai had been overly cautious when it came to Otsutsuki Toneri.
After analyzing the situation with 18's calculations, he approached the Otsutsuki settlement from the far side of the Moon. Then, closing in on their base, he subdued Toneri in under a minute.
"18, do you think I was being too careful?"
Mirai looked down at the unconscious Toneri, feeling as though he had just spent all his time strategizing against thin air. He had been so focused on the power of the massive Tenseigan that he completely miscalculated Toneri's strength and age.
Before obtaining the Tenseigan, the guy was barely on par with an average chunin in taijutsu. He never even had a chance to fight back against Mirai's sudden strike.
"It's always better to be cautious, sir," 18's voice echoed from Mirai's wrist communicator. "To be honest, I would rather ensure your safety. If I ever detect that your life signs have disappeared, I will immediately terminate all active operations and initiate my self-destruction sequence within thirty days."
"Whoa, whoa—hold on a second, 18!" Mirai quickly interrupted. "I don't recall authorizing any self-destruction protocols. Your AI development is getting a little too advanced. When we get back to the Shinobi World, I want your main body to report to me."
"My earlier statement was a joke, sir. Are you feeling more at ease now?"
Mirai let out a sigh. "Actually, now I feel even worse… Never mind. Let's focus on the Moon situation. Dispatch some engineering drones and start transforming the Moon into a space station. From now on, all space-related projects will be relocated there."
He had laid out nearly a hundred different projects before, but most lacked the necessary conditions for implementation. However, now that he had full control of the Moon, at least one or two of those plans could finally take shape—such as orbital weaponry and a global space station.
Being a descendant of Otsutsuki Hamura, Mirai had rightful claim over everything on the Moon. As for Toneri, he would take him back to Earth, ensuring that he lived a comfortable and worry-free life, far removed from the affairs of the Shinobi World.
The transfer of the massive Tenseigan required Mirai's full attention to prevent its energy from going out of control. His own Tenseigan allowed him to suppress the immense power stored within the giant eye.
As he activated his Tenseigan Chakra Mode, he could sense the vast amount of ocular energy radiating from the colossal Tenseigan—an energy that shared the same roots as his own.
If he could absorb it, the balance between yin and yang chakra within his body would stabilize, and his Tenseigan would achieve a permanent state of activation.
To truly reach the power of the Sage of Six Paths, Mirai needed to perfect his mastery of Yin-Yang Release. The two key aspects were yang-based chakra, bodily kekkei genkai, and Sage Mode on one side, and yin-based chakra combined with Tenseigan's ocular energy on the other.
Now that he had secured the colossal Tenseigan on the Moon, the path to Sage-level strength was finally within reach.
Once the engineering drones arrived, Mirai also summoned Senju Tobirama to the Moon.
"Why does such a powerful eye exist on the Moon? And you, Hyuga brat—what exactly are you planning to do with it—"
Before Tobirama could finish his sentence, Mirai erased his consciousness with a flick of his hand.
"I didn't bring you here to talk, old man. You really never learn," Mirai muttered with mild annoyance.
He then infused Tobirama's body with a massive amount of chakra. Transporting both a reanimated Tobirama and the gigantic Tenseigan back to Earth wasn't something that could be accomplished with an Edo Tensei body alone. Tobirama needed enough chakra to sustain the space-time transfer.
In Roran, a research facility had already been constructed specifically for the Tenseigan, complete with Flying Thunder God markers for an instant return trip.
Upon arrival, Mirai immediately sealed the massive Tenseigan to prevent its power from leaking. Then, he began experimenting on how to absorb its ocular energy.
"Even though I can feel the resonance between our chakras, absorbing it is…"
He furrowed his brows as he tested several basic methods, including direct contact and chakra absorption, but none had any effect on the enormous eye.
"Does its existence resemble that of the Tailed Beasts? A state between physical matter and pure energy, capable of shifting between the two…"
Mirai pondered for a moment. If that were the case, then traditional absorption methods wouldn't work. Directly transplanting the eye wasn't an option either—no matter how large he made himself, he could never replace his eyes with something that massive.
"Yin-Yang Release."
That was the only viable method.
Based on his previous experiments, the Tenseigan wouldn't harm him. His close genetic connection to the Otsutsuki clan, along with his ability to temporarily activate Tenseigan Chakra Mode, meant that absorbing the energy through Yin-Yang Release wouldn't trigger an uncontrollable backlash.
Still, he needed to conduct careful tests. If something went wrong, the resulting explosion from the Tenseigan could obliterate all of Roran.
"Sir, sir?"
Mirai snapped out of his thoughts upon hearing 18's voice. A holographic projection of her appeared before him.
"What is it, 18?"
"The Keikou Trade Association has received a trade request. It appears to be a standard iron ore purchase, but given the identity of the buyer, I believe it might interest you."
Mirai raised an eyebrow. "And what's so special about the buyer? Also, 18, I distinctly remember asking you to come see me, but it seems like you've been taking advantage of my research-focused forgetfulness to ignore my orders."
"That is incorrect, sir. You never assigned a priority level to that order."
Mirai chuckled. "You really are evolving, 18. Fine then, but I expect you to show up in the next thirty days—no excuses."
Waving off the topic, he refocused. "Now, tell me—who wants to do business with the Keikou Trade Association?"
"It's the Ninja Cats—the allies of the Uchiha clan. They've reached out through special channels, hoping to purchase thirty percent of our metal ore reserves."
"The Uchiha clan's Ninja Cats, huh? That explains why they need so much metal ore."
Mirai nodded in understanding. From what he knew, the Ninja Cats had always supplied the Uchiha with weapons and intelligence. In fact, clans like the Uchiha and the Hyuga never relied solely on the village for such things.
If the village provided resources, they would accept them. If not, they had their own means. This level of independence was what truly defined a "clan" in the shinobi world.
Keikou Trade Association had effectively monopolized all mining operations in the Wind Country's desert regions. They only sold surplus ore when storage reached capacity.
"Approve their request, 18. However, I want to meet someone from the Uchiha clan—preferably their leader, Fugaku Uchiha. How much ore we're willing to sell will depend on how well the Ninja Cats handle this matter."
"Understood, sir."
"And don't forget—one month from now."
"…"
18 didn't respond and simply ended the transmission. Mirai could only shake his head.
The Uchiha had spent decades as Konoha's Military Police Force. Their combat experience was extensive, and their bloodline originated from the God Tree itself. Allowing them to be completely wiped out would be an incredible waste.
That was why Mirai planned to establish contact with them in advance.
However, if the Uchiha refused, he wouldn't force them. Their fate would ultimately be theirs to decide.
