NARUTO: Ninja World Scientific Revolution

Chapter 42: CHAPTER 42 - Gathering

Sage Jutsu enhances a ninja's body, chakra, and genjutsu in all aspects, even boosting their energy the longer they fight. The reason behind this is the natural energy. When body energy and mental energy combine, it forms chakra, and by adding natural energy into this mixture while maintaining a proper balance between the three, it becomes sage chakra.

Natural energy shares a striking similarity with Hashirama cells, both capable of significantly enhancing the user's abilities, but at great risk. Normally, one would need a vast amount of chakra to even have the chance of training in Sage Jutsu, but to Hyuga Mirai, having abundant chakra isn't a qualification for training in Sage Jutsu—it's more about minimizing the chances of dying.

Absorbing natural energy is incredibly dangerous. If a ninja's chakra isn't strong enough, the natural energy might flood into their body in an instant, making it impossible for them to control the three types of energy within themselves, ultimately resulting in death by natural energy contamination.

Despite the risks, the benefits of Sage Jutsu are undeniable, making it an enticing option for many. Mirai firmly believes in "practice makes perfect." To study Sage Jutsu from the Ryūchi Cave, he asked Orochimaru for the summoning scroll of that place. Though he intended to study Sage Jutsu there, he didn't plan on relying on a bunch of snakes to learn it. If Mirai were to practice Sage Jutsu, he would rely on experimentation to master his own Sage Mode.

When Mirai left Orochimaru's lab, he had taken a small piece of Hashirama's cells with him, a request he made of Orochimaru. The quantity wasn't much, but it was enough for Mirai to extract the gene sequences and combine them with the Byakugan's gene sequences to develop a new type of injection.

Back in his lab, Mirai split himself into ten shadow clones to speed up the process of developing the injection. During this time, his chakra had been rapidly growing, and he had not neglected his taijutsu training either. His proficiency in the Eight Gates had already allowed him to open the Gate of Opening. Each time his physical strength was exhausted, Mirai would eat a lot of food.

Using Yang Release chakra to stimulate his stomach and other organs, he could quickly digest the food in his body, replenishing his energy. Moreover, consistently using Yang Release chakra to nourish his cells had made his body significantly stronger.

At just under eleven years old, Mirai had already reached a height of 1.6 meters, standing out among his peers.

In the Konoha Hospital's lab, the ten shadow clones had extracted the gene sequences from Hashirama's cells and began experimenting with the fusion of those sequences with the Byakugan's. Once they succeeded, Mirai would be able to create the injection he needed. At that point, he would no longer be restricted by his physical limitations, and his cell vitality would improve, bringing him closer to the Otsutsuki Clan's ancestors.

"At this rate, it seems we should succeed within a month," said one of the clones.

Mirai nodded. "Got it. I'm counting on you."

With that, he left the lab. Today was supposed to be the day Kurenai Yuhi had invited him to a gathering. Many of the students from his class who had advanced to Chunin were gathering, and Kurenai had invited him to join them.

For B-Class, aside from Mirai, none were expected to graduate early. It would likely be a few more months before the Genin exams would take place, and the students would be sent to the borders. Recently, the friction at the borders had been escalating, and many medical ninjas had been assigned to the frontline. Even Vice-Director Kimura had hinted to Mirai that he would likely be sent there soon.

Mirai knew that he had to complete the injection that would break the Caged Bird Seal before being sent to the frontlines. If the war broke out, he wouldn't have time for research.

The Konoha lab was small, with equipment enough for only ten people at a time. If the lab were bigger, Mirai could have assigned more shadow clones. His chakra level was already on par with that of a Jonin, but since he rarely fought, and with his identity as a medical ninja, people still saw him only as a skilled medical Chunin.

He was regarded as a medical ninja with exceptional research abilities, advanced healing skills, but with weaker combat abilities. His strongest technique, the Eight Trigrams Thirty-Two Palms, could only barely handle a relatively weaker Chunin.

"Should be here," Mirai murmured as he arrived at the entrance of a newly opened barbecue restaurant. Rumor had it that the food was delicious, so Kurenai and the others had decided to hold their gathering here.

"Mirai-kun, you finally made it!" Kurenai called out as she ran out from the restaurant. Her ruby-like eyes squinted into crescent moons as she smiled at him. "You're the last one. Everyone else is already here. Come in, I'll introduce you."

Kurenai pulled Mirai into the private room, where more than ten people were already seated. Two large tables were pushed together, with four grills for barbecue.

Seeing Kurenai pulling at Mirai's sleeve, Kiyo Hyuga's pale eyes flashed with irritation. "This woman... she was supposed to go out to order food, but she was holding onto him like that?"

"Everyone, sorry I'm late. I'm Hyuga Mirai, and I'm on the same team as Kurenai and Kiyo," Mirai greeted with a smile as he entered. He only really knew Kakashi and Nohara Rin among the group, while the others were classmates he'd only interacted with occasionally.

"Mirai, sit down," Rin called from across the room. She had spent a year at Konoha Hospital after graduation, which was how she knew how well-known Mirai was in the medical ninja field. Not only had he developed healing talismans, but he had also created several deadly poisons and medical gear.

The medical gear, though, was incredibly expensive—costing tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of ryo for just one piece. Even Jonin would hesitate to purchase them. However, the results were outstanding, offering both protection and storage for ninja tools, as well as having a healing effect far superior to the talismans.

Mirai had only made a handful of these, and apart from the three he kept for himself, the rest had been taken by the Third Hokage.

"Rin, it's been a while," Mirai greeted before sitting next to Kiyo. This simple act lightened Kiyo's mood considerably. However, Kurenai's choice to sit next to Mirai on the other side made Kiyo's mood shift from clear skies to cloudy.

Mirai had been the last to arrive, and after he sat down, everyone introduced themselves. As they did, Mirai noticed something unusual—Kakashi was also present. He had been excluded from several teams recently and had been taking on only C-rank missions.

It was odd for Kakashi to join such a gathering, but after listening to the conversation, Mirai learned that Kakashi had now joined Minato Namikaze's team, forming a trio with Obito Uchiha and Rin Nohara.

Mirai glanced around the room and realized that besides Obito and Rin, who were still Genin, everyone else had passed the Chunin exams.
