Chapter 33: Useless
The air in the forest grew even more tense as Chen let out a mocking laugh at the Uchiha's actions.
"Shinra Tensei!" Chen shouted.
In an instant, the pulling force that had dragged Kaiden in transformed into a devastating repulsive force.
The energy expanded in all directions, carefully avoiding Mikoto but hitting Kaiden with overwhelming intensity.
The impact was like being hit by a speeding train.
Despite the distance, Kaiden was violently thrown back. The nearby trees couldn't withstand the force of the attack; they disintegrated on the spot, turning into a cloud of sawdust that dispersed into the air.
Kaiden fell to the ground like a ragdoll, his body bouncing off the earth with a dull thud.
Mikoto, still paralyzed by shock, couldn't utter a word.
Her eyes, wide open, shifted from Chen to Kaiden, unable to process the speed and brutality of the attack she had just witnessed.
Chen, noticing the confusion on Mikoto's face, decided to explain the situation. "This is a member of the Uchiha clan," he said calmly. "He's here seeking revenge for the humiliation I caused Fugaku. And you, Mikoto, are considered a traitor by your clan because of your expulsion and your association with me."
Despite his severe injuries, Kaiden began to move. With superhuman effort, he managed to get on his knees, coughing up blood. "My... my internal organs..." he murmured, his voice barely audible. "What kind of ninjutsu is that? You didn't use any hand seals..."
Chen looked at Kaiden with indifference. "Does it really matter? You don't need to know before you die."
The provocation ignited a spark of fury in the Uchiha's eyes. With a final breath of defiance, Kaiden formed seals with his trembling hands. "Katon: Gōryūka no Jutsu!" he shouted.
A massive flame in the shape of a dragon erupted from his mouth, roaring towards Chen and Mikoto.
Unfazed, Chen formed a single seal with one hand.
A wall of water materialized in front of them, blocking the fire attack with a loud hiss that filled the air with steam.
"Chen!" Mikoto exclaimed anxiously, finally finding her voice. "That's Kaiden. He's... he's one of the most important members of the Uchiha clan."
Chen, sensing her anxiety, gave her a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, Mikoto. If I had really wanted to, Kaiden would already be dead."
Then, turning to the Uchiha, he added in an almost playful tone, "This is the first time I'm showing my true strength in front of strangers. So, Kaiden, I ask that you don't die too quickly, okay?"
Before Kaiden could respond, Chen moved.
In an instant, his calf transformed into pure light. The entire forest lit up with a blinding golden flash as Chen launched a kick at the speed of light.
The impact was devastating. Kaiden was sent flying, crashing through hundreds of meters of dense forest.
The trees snapped like mere twigs under the force of the Uchiha turned human projectile. Despite his trained reflexes, Kaiden barely had time to lift his arms in an instinctive defense, which probably saved his life but didn't prevent him from suffering severe injuries.
Chen frowned, seemingly dissatisfied. "I held back too much," he murmured. "It could have been much more destructive."
Mikoto, gaping at the display of power, couldn't help but feel a pang of inferiority. 'Chen is... incredible,' she thought. 'Will I ever be able to reach his level?' This reflection ignited a fierce determination in her: from now on, she would train harder than ever.
"Mikoto," Chen said, interrupting her thoughts, "wait here. I'll go check on the situation." In his mind, Chen had already decided that Kaiden had to die, but he preferred that Mikoto didn't witness the final act.
In a blink, Chen became a flash of light, reappearing instantly in front of Kaiden.
The Uchiha lay in a crater, surrounded by shattered trees.
Seeing Chen, he coughed up blood and managed a bitter smile.
"Impressive... truly impressive," Kaiden managed to say between gasps.
Chen, showing no emotion, raised his hand. "Light Shigan," he murmured. His index finger glowed with a blinding intensity, and in an instant, Kaiden felt as if hundreds of light needles were piercing his body.
Chen had attacked with pinpoint precision, inflicting multiple wounds without hitting any vital points, ensuring that Kaiden suffered but didn't die instantly.
Despite the overwhelming pain, Kaiden managed to scream, "What are you doing?! Are you trying to torture me for information?" His eyes darted rapidly, the three tomoe of his Sharingan attempting to merge into a hypnotic pattern.
Chen, unfazed, looked directly into Kaiden's blood-red eyes. "Illusions have no effect on me," he declared calmly. "Your resistance is futile."
