Chapter 19: 18- Shunshin and Sensing
My official graduation from the Academy barely felt like a change.
Considering that I did not get a jounin sensei, and did not need to go to D-rank missions like others certainly did not help either,
Anyways, the consolation was that Tsunade and the others were stuck here in the village doing D-rank missions too,
There was a war going on out there, so they can forget any thoughts of doing missions outside the village for quite a while…
As for me, I had to go to the ANBU in a while, but I was mostly free right now, so I did have some more classes with grandma Mito about Fuinjutsu.
Still, graduating from the academy can be said to be the right decision I believe, at least sensei has been more open about quite a few things since then, even training me in stuff like politics.
Tobirama-sensei had called me to his office again today, and today, I had a list. A mental list, but still a list. There were some serious shit I wanted to learn from him.
Sure, Sensei was a master of forbidden jutsus and all, but what about him suited his best was actually his fast shunshin, alongside flying thunder god, which I can't learn now,
Still, I believe shunshin is better for me with my chakra control, I can probably reach speeds far beyond the Raikages, and the other thing was,
His sensing ability. The most goated sensing ability in the entirety of shinobi world, one capable of calling the Byakugan and Kagura heart eye as trash.
With it, maybe I can cover the entire world with my senses.
"So," I began, walking beside him toward the training grounds. "Let's talk about your Shunshin."
He raised an eyebrow. "You've been after that technique for a while now."
'Yes. Ever since you decided it was correct to flex it in front of me'
He didn't say much—just stood still, gave a subtle nod, and then—
He disappeared.
And then reappeared behind me without a sound.
I blinked. A single hand seal, no massive surge of chakra, no winds.
It wasn't exactly teleportation, but it might as well have been.
"It's not that complicated honestly," he said.
"It's essentially chakra to increase physical movement speed to its peak in a short instant. A combination of control, release, and direction. Anyone can do it... badly, At least, anyone above the genins can, but one can master it to a level reaching speeds like teleportation."
"I see… But don't you have the Flying thunder god, why spend so much time training the shunshin?" I asked curiously
"Due to those Evil born Uchihas, of course. If I move any slower, their eyes can track me, and the flying thunder god is ultimately dependent on the speed of Kunai and preplaced coordinates." Tobirama sensei grumbled
"Indeed, those filthy Uchihas." I nodded sagely.
"Well, I like the way you are thinking, of course no one needs much of a reason to hate those evil Uchihas, but you are a child raised here in the village, away from clan wars, why exactly do you hate those Uchihas? You know, for reviews and all." Sensei asked with concern, but his smile was proof enough that he wasn't really concerned at all.
"You said those bastards would get stronger if I use my genjutsu on them, making my ultimate skill ineffective for them." I snarked, yes, Lucid horror was basically making them advance them powerups.
If word got out, Uchihas would be lining up like masochists to get beaten by me, hoping I use my illusion on them.
"Indeed, those filthy Uchihas." Sensei nodded sagely.
We both looked at each other, and laughed out loud, of course we had already checked that no one was nearby, especially that guy Kagami.
Anyways, back to training.
He demonstrated again. A twist of his ankle, an exact channeling of chakra—gone. Reappeared twenty meters away.
I closed my eyes and turned on smart mode.
Replayed every motion of his in my head. Muscle engagement, chakra distribution, momentum calculations.
'Alright. I can work with this.'
I tried it. Just once.
My body blurred, and the world around me stretched like a painting on fast-forward.
By the time I stopped, I was already behind Tobirama.
He turned around, one eyebrow raised. "You already figured it out?"
"Bet."
"Do it again, this time for more distance."
And I did. Again and again. Every time, faster than before.
After the third try, I stopped. "It's easier than it looks." Yeah, that again and again literally meant the second and third tries, you think I would practice continuously for shit as simple as this?
Tobirama looked at me, then exhaled. "No. You're just not normal."
That almost sounded like praise.
He paused, then turned to walk again. "Next topic?"
I didn't hesitate. "Of course, Your sensory skills. You always know where I am. Even before I arrive. And that one time… you tracked a rogue ninja three countries away. How?"
He folded his arms. "That just talent." He said smugly.
"Ughhh, spill it." I groaned.
"Alright, not entirely. I developed a technique—call it Ultimate Chakra Perception. It expands the senses by continuously converting chakra into long-range perception threads, each tuned to pick up on chakra signatures, terrain pressure, even air vibrations. At my level, I can scan half the continent with moderate clarity."
I stared. "Of course, you developed crazy shit again."
He smiled smugly. "It's a combination of amplification, filtering, and a passive jutsu structure that sustains itself once deployed."
Of course it is.
Then he tilted his head slightly. "You have perfect control, maybe you could surpass me. Maybe not in range—yet—but in detail. You might even reach the point where you can read emotions, mental fluctuations, or even trace someone by the feel of their bloodline limit."
I stared harder. 'Wait. What? That is possible?'
He gestured for me to sit. "Close your eyes. Let's begin."
I did. The training began with breathing. Focusing. Listening to the flow of chakra—not my own, but the residue in the environment.
"Start by tuning your chakra to the natural world." he instructed.
"Then expand. Gently. Imagine stretching a domain of your own energy, like a web. Each point of contact gives you feedback. Data."
It sounded… too poetic. But I tried.
But considering that I was in smart mode
Soon enough, something changed.
I began to feel.
First, the forest around me. Trees, insects, animals—each one a different flicker of chakra. Then, the villagers, guards patrolling the village walls. Their chakra patterns were distinct, Erratic, and probably chaotic.
I kept pushing...
Then…
Konoha faded from the edges of my perception.
And the forest beyond lit up.
Soon, I could see the entire Land of Fire.
Not literally, of course. But I felt it. Everyone, every tiny bit of chakra. The borders. The rivers. The Red light areas, many unwanted stuff too.
Did you know that the Daimyo of land of fire is gay?
Anyways, beyond that—faint flickers. The Land of Wind. Water. Lightning. Earth.
I opened my eyes, slightly trembling.
"…How far was that?" I asked quietly.
Tobirama stared at me for a long time. Then said, "You probably just brushed against the whole continent, I couldn't sense it's limits, but I could feel you surpassing my range without stopping at all"
'…Oh.'
I sat in silence, trying to process that.
He added, "You've added another bullshit ability to your resume, anyways, how detailed were your senses?"
"Pretty clear. I know everything about the land of fire at least, sow many interesting things too."
"Like what?"
"The Daimyo getting backshots and enjoying it counts as one, right?"
He didn't say anything else. Neither did I.
Then we both started laughing out loud, again.
