After seeing his brief fight with Itachi, even Shisui was doubtful that he would be able to beat the guy without his Mangekyou Sharingan. There was no doubt about it. If by any chance, Mukai Kohinata has secretly mastered the eight inner gates technique, then he would be at least on the level of S ranked shinobi. If that would be the case, then only his mangekyou sharingan would be their only hope to defeat the soon to be rogue shinobi.

"I am sorry Shisui, I shouldn't have gone after him like that. It was completely reckless." Itachi, being the polite guy he was, immediately apologized to Shisui.

"It is no big deal. I am the one who gave you the permission to go alone anyway. It was for the better. Now we won't underestimate that guy while facing him. Besides, it looked like he was in a hurry. My crow is currently following him. Let's go after him. Now that he was trying to flee after betraying the village he might go straight to his benefactor in the land of Fire." Shisui said after treating Itachi using the mystic palm technique.

As both the Uchiha got up, they started following the trail of Mukai, going in the exact direction where Kakashi was escorting his client to.

To explain the tragic past of Mukai Kohinata, we will have to look back in the past. Twenty nine years ago, a certain fucker from the main family of the Hyuga clan, fucked a whore in the red light district, knocking her up in the process. Mukai Kohinata was born from that prostitute. Despite all the hardships, he strived to become better and was considered a genius with civilian background during his time. But before he could give his early graduation exam, due to some reasons, he awakened a single Byakugan in his right eye. That I destroyed his entire life. The Hyuga clan was hell bent on making him their slave even though he didn't even belong to his clan.

Fortunately the third Hokage stepped forward and intervened. But unfortunately he had his own hidden motives as well. Mukai Kohinata was more talented than any Hyuga from the main branch. So the Hyuga clan wanted him under their thumb. But Hiruzen decided to make him join Anbu and suppress his progress as much as possible. Of course the old man was trying his best but Mukai didn't understand it. He was really disappointed when the hokage didn't even promote him to an Elite jounin even after he mastered four inner gates of the eight inner gates technique.

From that point his disappointment for the village only grew. And here he was, defecting to the hidden mist in exchange of a promise of his better future.
