Akatsuki's Hideout

White Zetsu reported, "All clones are ready."

Obito nodded. "Good. Move out. Gather outside Konoha and wait for my signal."

"Understood."

Swish, swish, swish... 

The White Zetsu clones sank into the ground, leaving the hideout empty.

Obito turned to look behind him. Sasuke sat quietly, head lowered, eyes cold and deep. The members of the Taka Squad stood around him. 

Jūgo's previously shattered arms had been replaced with White Zetsu's limbs.

Obito asked, "Are you ready?"

Sasuke stayed silent.

Karin looked at him, concerned. She silently wished Sasuke would reconsider.

Then Sasuke spoke to his team, "This is my revenge. The rest of you can follow me, if you choose."

Karin's eyes dimmed, but she quickly replied, "I'll go. My abilities will be useful!"

Jūgo added, "I'll come too. You're Kimimaro's legacy, fighting beside you honors his will."

Suigetsu hesitated. He wanted to say: "Why do I have to go? Attacking Konoha won't change much with or without me."

But instead, he slung his sword over his shoulder and said, "I'll go too, just don't expect me to lead the charge. I'll handle the small fry."

With that, all members of the Taka Squad agreed to join.

Sasuke slowly stood up, eyes filled with killing intent.

"Let's go. It's time to ignite the flames of Uchiha's revenge!"

A vortex twisted through time and space. In the forest outside Konoha, Obito arrived with Sasuke and the members of the Taka Squad.

Rustle, rustle, rustle…

One by one, White Zetsu clones emerged from underground.

The lead Black-White Zetsu said, "No Konoha patrols nearby. That's strange..."

"If no one's guarding the outskirts, then all their forces must be gathered inside the village."

Obito's eyes darkened. "Lately, more and more White Zetsu have gone missing. It's happened before, but over the past two weeks, it's been happening too often..."

"So in the end, we couldn't hide it?"

"No matter. It won't change the outcome. I planned to let Naruto know at the start of the attack anyway, this just saves me the trouble."

Obito turned to Sasuke. "Sasuke, you'll lead the main force of the White Zetsu army and attack Konoha head-on. Their defenses will be tighter than expected, so don't underestimate them."

"Hmph." Sasuke's tone was cold. 

"Whatever formation Konoha puts up... before the power of the Uchiha eyes, they'll crumble like tofu."

Obito nodded. "Good. I like your confidence. Go, advance on Konoha. Leave the rest to me... and Naruto."

Swish!

Sasuke's cloak fluttered as he stepped forward. The Taka Squad followed at his side, and behind them, the White Zetsu army marched in formation.

They moved steadily toward Konoha. As the village gate came into view, Sasuke's eyes narrowed. Without warning, he rushed forward.

"Hey, Sasuke! What are you doing?!" one of the White Zetsu shouted.

Sasuke called out without turning back, "Surround the village from the outside, Taka will strike from within!"

Swish! Swish!

Without hesitation, Sasuke shot forward. In a blur of speed, he pierced through Konoha's barrier and disappeared beyond the high wall!

The Taka Squad followed closely behind.

The White Zetsu grumbled, "These guys never follow the plan! Now we'll suffer more losses because of them!"

Crash!

A large number of Konoha shinobi assembled at the village entrance.

Shikaku Nara stepped forward, calmly analyzing the situation. "Just as our informant said, the main enemy force is made up of White Zetsu clones."

He glanced sideways. "That mysterious man also told us about their abilities. Thanks to him, we were able to call for reinforcements in time. We're grateful you arrived, Your Highness, the Kazekage."

Gaara stood beside Shikaku, responding calmly, "It's only right. The Sand once owed a great debt to Konoha. This is the least we can do to repay it."

 —Sand Waterfall Funeral!

Crash!

A massive wave of sand surged forward from Gaara's palm, sweeping toward the enemy.

A White Zetsu clone shouted in shock, "That power... He's the Kazekage from the Sand Village! How is he here? We didn't detect any movements from the Sand Shinobi!"

Gaara replied coolly, "Of course you didn't. I left the village in secret, with only Temari and Kankuro at my side."

Boom!!

The White Zetsu army clashed with Konoha's defenders and the reinforcements from the Sand Village.

The war had begun.

Sasuke stood on the highest point in Konoha, overlooking the village.

Before launching the full-scale attack, he wanted to confirm his feelings one last time.

Back when Orochimaru attacked Konoha, he had gone through a similar inner struggle.

The village had been rebuilt, grander than ever.

On the Hokage Rock, the face of the Sixth Hokage, Danzo, was now complete. The sharp, chiseled features made it stand out glaringly.

"…"

Sasuke turned his gaze away, cold and quiet, looking toward the far end of the village.

Konoha may have been rebuilt, but there was no longer a place for the Uchiha.

"They didn't even try," he thought bitterly. 

"They erased everything, the Uchiha's history, our pain, our blood. Like we never existed."

"This is the village… the one Itachi gave his life to protect…"

Sasuke closed his eyes.

Swish! Swish! Swish!

White-robed Anbu landed silently on the rooftops around him. One of them spoke into a headset:

"We've located the intruders. The numbers match the barrier readings. The leader is Uchiha Sasuke."

On the other end of the transmission, Hatake Kakashi listened. His eyes dimmed.

"…So the day has finally come."

Kakashi closed his eyes.

Nearby, Might Guy glanced at his comrade and said quietly, "Kakashi... we're shinobi."

"…Yeah, I know."

Both Uchiha Sasuke and Hatake Kakashi opened their eyes at the same time.

"Destroy Konoha!"

"Bring down Uchiha Sasuke!"

Swish...!

Outside Konoha Village

Swish! Naruto and Konan appeared together.

A calm voice came from behind a mask.

"Yo… Uzumaki Naruto, I've been waiting. If you want to see Sasuke, you'll have to go through me first."

It was Obito.

"You could use Flying Thunder God and teleport into the village… but I'll follow right behind. Things won't go so smoothly then~"

Naruto's eyes narrowed behind his mask. "You went to great lengths to create this face-off with me. Honestly, you didn't have to. Even if you had come straight to Amegakure, I wouldn't have run."

Obito's tone turned cold. "That wouldn't work. The Rinnegan is in your possession. Fighting you on your own ground is too risky."

Naruto gave a faint smile. "You really are like your mask, confusing and hard to read."

Then his gaze turned sharp.

"But that Rinnegan… it doesn't belong to you, Uchiha Obito!"

"!?"

Obito's pupils shrank in shock.
