Chapter 35: Chapter 35:- Pain's approval
Kenshin went back to the living room, which also served as the kitchen, and put the food on their small dinner table.
Kana and Konan were talking on the other side of the room. Kana was being careful not to reveal anything about Kenshin's sharingan as Kenshin wanted to keep it a secret from the hidden rain, and while Kana trusted Konan, she respected Kenshin's wish.
Kenshin walked up to Konan with the scroll in hand. "Excuse me, Konan-sama? Can we talk?"
"What is it?" Konan asked, raising a brow when she saw the scroll.
"This is from the hokage." Kenshin handed her the scroll and Konan immediately opened it to read it.
"To the Honorable Leader of the Hidden Rain Village,I extend my respectful greetings and sincere regards. My name is Tsunade Senju, the Fifth Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village. I hope this letter finds you well and in good health.
I am writing to formally request the transfer of two individuals currently residing in the Hidden Rain Village to the Hidden Leaf Village: Kenshin Uzumaki and his mother, Kana Uzumaki.
Our reasons for this request are both personal and in the interest of fostering stronger relations between our two villages.
Kana Uzumaki, as you may know, originally hails from the Hidden Whirlpool Village. After its destruction, she found refuge in the Hidden Rain Village at a young age.
Given her heritage and the current circumstances, Kana has expressed a desire to return to the land of her ancestors, the Land of Fire, where many Uzumaki clan members once resided.
Additionally, Kenshin Uzumaki, her son, has displayed exceptional potential and talents that we believe can be nurtured and honed more effectively in the Hidden Leaf Village.
With our extensive resources and training facilities, we are confident that we can offer Kenshin the opportunities and guidance he needs to reach his full potential.
In exchange for their transfer, we are prepared to offer substantial monetary compensation as a token of our appreciation and a gesture of goodwill.
Furthermore, we propose the formation of a formal alliance between the Hidden Leaf and Hidden Rain Villages. Such an alliance would not only strengthen the bonds between our communities but also ensure mutual support and cooperation in times of need.
We understand the significance of this request and assure you that Kenshin and Kana Uzumaki will be treated with the utmost respect and care.
Our intention is to provide them with the best possible environment to thrive and contribute to the well-being of both our villages. We look forward to your favorable response and are open to any further discussions or negotiations to facilitate this request.
Thank you for your consideration.
Respectfully,
Tsunade Senju
Fifth Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village"
After reading it all out loud, Kana looked at both of them with a mix of surprise and confusion.
"What's going on? Why do you suddenly want to move to the leaf, Kana? And you, Kenshin. Why?"
Kana was actually surprised as she didn't know the terms that the hokage had proposed. And she didn't have a proper answer.
"Do we need to explain?" Kenshin asked, crossing his arms.
"This village has never treated us well, with the only exception being you. But the hidden leaf is different, they respect the Uzumaki. And the hokage, being a descendant of the Uzumaki as well, feels a personal connection to us.
She was unable to prevent the decline of her Senju clan, but she wishes to have us in the leaf village in order protect whatever remains of the Uzumaki clan. And as my father was a hidden leaf shinobi, we have a personal connection to the leaf as well.
And also, mom's body isn't completely healed. There's a good chance that her condition might worsen again. So having her be in the leaf is necessary for her survival."
As Kenshin explained, Konan's expression turned from confusion to one of understanding. As much as she didn't want to lose them after growing so close to them, she knew that this would be better for them.
"I understand. You make a fair point. I'll talk to 'him'." Konan said, standing up to leave.
But Kana stopped her. "At least have a meal with me. We're friends, right?"
"Also, I'll come with you. It's better if I talk to him instead of you." Kenshin said, before they all went to the dinner table.
[Later, atop the highest tower in the hidden rain]
Pain was standing in front of Kenshin, his back turned to Kenshin as he read Tsunade's offer.
"No. I will not hand you two over and risk an information leak." Pain said coldly, not bothering to look at Kenshin.
Konan was standing at the back of the room, listening to Pain's words.
But unbeknownst to Pain, Kenshin had already activated his left eye mangekyo sharingan, Shisui Uchiha's mangekyo sharingan. And using it's ability, he was planning on making Pain change his mind.
"However, I believe that you two are not aware enough to be considered a significant liability. Therefore I might consider this."
"Thank you, Pain-sama." Kenshin bowed, and glanced over at Konan who was looking at Pain with a shocked expression.
"Konan," Pain spoke, turning to look at her. "do you believe that Kana and Kenshin can be trusted?"
Konan was initially startled but quickly composed herself. "Yes. I've known them for decades and I believe that they will not leak any information that will cause the rain damage."
"In that case, I shall approve of the transfer. But we will ask for 150 million Ryo for each of them as compensation and the hidden leaf will assist us in any way we request.
Send this message to the leaf and they can leave after the leaf responds. And the terms are non negotiable." Pain said coldly.
"I understand." Konan nodded, before leaving the room.
"Thank you for your consideration , Pain-sama ." Kenshin bowed again and deactivated the left eye mangekyo sharingan. 'Well that went better than I expected.' Kenshin thought, following her out.
