Chapter 208: Chapter 208 : Naruto's Deployment
Gaara leads the Allied Shinobi Forces into battle!
In the Hidden Rain Village, after Naruto had extracted the Nine-Tails' chakra from the Fourth Hokage's body, the Yin half of Kurama growled in irritation.
"You're pushing it, kid!"
Naruto responded with a calm smile. "Just conserve your strength."
The Yin Kurama: "…I have nothing to say."
Naruto turned to the Yang half of Kurama. "Kurama, store this chakra separately and save it as a backup energy source for us."
With that, Naruto let go of his sparring match with his father. Minato looked at his son with both admiration and surprise.
"Your control over the Nine-Tails' chakra… It's matured more than I expected."
Naruto offered a modest smile.
At that moment, Konan walked over, her expression tense. "Naruto. According to our informants, the Allied Shinobi Forces have assembled in Kumogakure. It looks like they'll be moving soon."
A faint smirk played on Naruto's lips. "So… the Fourth Great Ninja War is finally upon us. Gather everyone and meet in the strategy office. It's time."
——
Inside the Rain Village's war room, a veritable force of legends had gathered: Killer Bee, Kisame, Uchiha Itachi, Uchiha Shisui, Nagato, Yahiko, Konan, Senju Hashirama, Senju Tobirama, Sarutobi Hiruzen, Namikaze Minato, and Orochimaru.
All of Amegakure's strength had converged here.
Naruto stood before them, his tone grave. "The Shinobi World War is about to begin. The real target behind all this is very clear: Obito wants Killer Bee and me. He wants to complete the Moon's Eye Plan by capturing the remaining Jinchūriki."
He scanned the room with calm, calculating eyes. "In that sense, the purpose of the Allied Shinobi Forces is to protect us. But we can't remain passive. We have to be the ones to hunt Obito down and destroy the possibility of that plan ever succeeding."
He turned to Konan, Yahiko, and Nagato. "So, Konan, Nagato-senpai, Yahiko-senpai — begin evacuating the entire civilian population of Amegakure. We're abandoning this base."
Konan looked shocked. "You're really giving it up?"
Naruto nodded solemnly. "Yes. If we stay here, Obito will come directly to us. When that happens, Amegakure will be reduced to rubble. We can't risk dragging innocent lives into that battle."
Nagato nodded. "Understood."
Naruto shifted his focus. "Uncle Bee, how are the students progressing?"
Killer Bee grinned. "They're doing alright! Most are already at Genin level or higher. Yahiko's group—those kids from Amegakure—they're already near Jōnin strength!"
Naruto gave a satisfied nod. "Excellent. It's time for them to step up. Assign them to protect the villagers during the evacuation. Yahiko!"
Yahiko stepped forward. "What is it, little brother?"
Naruto looked him straight in the eye. "The people of Amegakure see you as their god—because Nagato always acted under your image. You're the only one they'll trust in a moment like this. You need to be the one to explain the evacuation."
Nagato placed a hand on Yahiko's shoulder. Yahiko exhaled deeply and nodded. "No problem. Leave it to me."
"Shisui, Itachi."
Both Uchiha looked up at once. Naruto's voice was sharp. "I've analyzed Obito's forces. His most dangerous asset right now is the Edo Tensei army—reanimated shinobi under Kabuto's control. Your mission is simple: find Kabuto and stop the Edo Tensei."
Naruto tossed a scroll to Itachi. "This scroll contains intel on Kabuto's last known location. Track him down and end the summoning."
Shisui and Itachi exchanged a glance and nodded.
Kisame stood up. "I'll go with them. Can't let my old teammate take all the credit."
Naruto smiled. "Alright then. Kisame, Itachi, Shisui — your team's objective is the termination of the Edo Tensei. Good luck."
Kisame chuckled, nodding with approval as he returned to his seat.
Naruto turned to the others. "Hashirama-sama, Tobirama-sama, Third Hokage, Dad, Orochimaru, and Uncle Bee — you're with me."
Each one gave a firm nod of acknowledgment.
"That settles the assignments. Meeting adjourned!"
——
As the others dispersed, Kisame approached Killer Bee. "Hey, can I borrow Samehada again? Without it, my power's basically cut in half."
Killer Bee unsheathed Samehada and looked at it. "Well, what do you say?"
Samehada growled lowly — discontent. Bee sighed. "Looks like he's not interested."
Kisame stepped forward, laying a hand on the sword. "Come on, buddy. Just take a feel of my chakra now. I've changed. This is only temporary—after the war, you can go back to your octopus host if you like. I won't force you."
Samehada hesitated, then slowly brushed against Kisame's arm. Its reaction shifted—it recognized the change. Kisame's chakra was no longer vicious and bloodthirsty, but calm and tempered.
Kisame grinned. "Told you I'm a different man now. So, what do you say? One more mission together?"
Samehada gave a quiet hum, then slithered back toward Kisame. Killer Bee laughed. "No worries, I'm not jealous. Go ahead and have your walk with the shark!"
Kisame slung Samehada over his shoulder again and turned to Bee. "Thanks, Octopus. When this is all over, I'll return it to you personally."
"Waiting for your good news, Shark," Bee responded with a nod.
——
Later, Naruto found Itachi again and pulled him aside. His tone grew somber.
"Itachi… when you find Kabuto, try to make him come to his senses first. Don't kill him unless you have to."
Itachi blinked, taken aback. Naruto's concern was… unusual.
"He's a broken man. He doesn't know who he really is. If you can, use the Uchiha Clan's forbidden genjutsu—Izanami. Awaken him from this path."
Itachi's eyes widened. "Naruto… how do you know about Izanami?"
Naruto smirked softly. Wasn't that how you stopped him in my last life? He didn't say that aloud, of course.
"Let's just say… I have my sources. Besides, I've got eight spare Sharingan here. Even if you go blind, I'll get you replacements."
Itachi chuckled. "That's… oddly reassuring."
As Naruto walked off, another visitor approached Itachi.
Orochimaru.
"Itachi-kun, I have a favor to ask."
Itachi frowned. "You… have a favor?"
Orochimaru nodded, his voice calm. "Kabuto was once my subordinate. I taught him much of what he knows. If the opportunity presents itself… I hope you'll spare his life."
Itachi was surprised. First Naruto… now even Orochimaru?
He stared at the Sannin, whose snake-like demeanor usually masked any shred of sentiment. But this time… he looked sincere.
Itachi eventually nodded. "If I can save him, I will."
Orochimaru smiled. "Thank you, Itachi-kun."
