Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Danzo Was Plotted Against
In the Hokage's office, Naruto arrived as scheduled.
Activating the First Gate of the Eight Inner Gates, he sharpened his senses, waiting. His target had yet to appear.
Two figures entered the room—Homura Mitokado and Koharu Utatane. The two elders of Konoha's council took their seats quietly.
Naruto had specifically requested Granny Tsunade to invite them. Their presence was a necessary part of his plan—to make Danzo drop his guard. If these two were present, Danzo would assume it was a routine discussion rather than a scheme against him.
In the office, Tsunade sat at her desk, exuding authority. Standing behind her was Shizune, ever loyal. Jiraiya had also arrived, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed, observing the scene.
Looking at Tsunade, Naruto asked, "Granny Tsunade, where's Danzo?"
Tsunade frowned slightly. "Kakashi has gone to fetch him."
Naruto nodded, falling silent.
Tsunade studied him carefully before speaking. "Naruto, I'm very curious. Why must Danzo be here before you reveal your secret?"
Naruto smiled. "You'll understand soon enough, Granny Tsunade."
Jiraiya, watching closely, felt an uneasy sensation creeping up his spine. It was rare for Naruto to act so composed and mysterious. The feeling was unsettling, though he couldn't quite place why.
Homura glanced at Tsunade and asked, "Tsunade, what exactly are we here to discuss? Naruto mentioned a secret—does it concern Konoha?"
Koharu nodded. "Yes, calling all of us here, including Danzo… this must be something of great importance."
Naruto met their gazes and said, "It's a secret concerning the Fourth Hokage."
Both Homura and Koharu widened their eyes in surprise, exchanging uncertain glances.
Elsewhere, Danzo sat in his dimly lit chamber, listening to the report from one of his ROOT operatives.
"Tsunade has summoned Homura and Koharu to the Hokage's office. Kakashi has been sent to escort you as well," the agent reported.
Danzo narrowed his only visible eye. Tsunade, what are you plotting?
Suspicion brewed in his mind. Hokage or not, Tsunade was not one to involve the council unless it truly concerned Konoha's affairs. And yet, something about this felt off.
Could it be that Jiraiya's strength has weakened after his battle in Ame? Maybe they need our advice after realizing they can't handle everything on their own.
A smirk played at the corner of his lips.
The moment Kakashi arrived, Danzo rose from his seat, grabbing his cane.
"I see. I suppose even the younger generation still requires guidance from us elders," Danzo said with a hint of amusement.
He chose not to bring any guards. After all, who in Konoha would dare attack him? His influence was deeply rooted in the village.
Besides, showing up with ROOT operatives would only attract unnecessary suspicion.
Danzo arrived at the Hokage's office and knocked.
"Come in," Tsunade's voice called.
The door swung open, and Kakashi stepped inside. "Hokage-sama, Danzo-sama has arrived."
Stepping aside, Kakashi allowed Danzo to enter.
Homura and Koharu stood as soon as he walked in. Koharu clicked her tongue in disapproval. "Danzo, you're too slow. We've been waiting."
Danzo gave a small smile. "Well, I never expected Hokage-sama to seek counsel from an old man like me. Age slows the body, after all."
Tsunade's brow twitched.
There was a subtle jab in his words.
You ignore us until it suits you, Danzo seemed to imply. His words, though directed at himself, also looped in Homura and Koharu, immediately forming a silent alliance.
Naruto, standing with his back turned to Danzo, suddenly felt his Shadow Clone dispel back at home.
Now.
Without warning, his body surged with power. Orange markings appeared around his eyes as he activated Sage Mode in an instant.
Jiraiya's eyes widened. He alone knew what this transformation meant.
Something's about to go down!
But it was already too late.
With Sage Mode enhancing his perception, reflexes, and attack power, Naruto moved with blinding speed.
Fast.
Precise.
Ruthless.
Danzo's mouth was still forming his next sentence when Naruto struck.
In one swift motion, Naruto's right hand shot forward—straight for Danzo's right eye.
"I'll be taking this."
Before Danzo could even react, pain exploded in his face.
A sharp, agonized scream filled the office.
Danzo's right eye—the Sharingan he had stolen from Shisui Uchiha—was ripped clean from its socket. Blood splattered onto Naruto's hand, staining his fingers crimson.
The room plunged into stunned silence.
Danzo staggered back, his hand shooting to his mutilated eye socket, crimson leaking between his fingers.
Kakashi's instincts took over. In a blur, he activated Raikiri and lunged at Naruto.
"Naruto!"
Naruto clicked his tongue and vanished in a flash.
He reappeared on the rooftop of a nearby building, the stolen eye still in his grasp.
Tsunade slammed her hands onto her desk, splintering it. "Naruto! What the hell are you doing?!"
Homura and Koharu were pale with shock, trembling as they turned to Tsunade. "Tsunade, what is the meaning of this?!"
They thought this had been her plan.
But Tsunade was just as shocked as they were.
Danzo, gritting his teeth against the pain, covered his wound and glared at her. "Tsunade… are you behind this?"
Tsunade had no immediate answer. After all, Naruto had specifically asked her to gather them.
Danzo's voice shook with rage. "This is an act of war!"
From above, Naruto's voice rang out.
"Danzo, do you really think Granny Tsunade would scheme against you so openly? If she wanted you dead, she wouldn't have invited you so politely."
All eyes turned toward him.
Naruto stood tall on the rooftop, his golden Sage eyes burning with cold fury. The blood-stained Sharingan rested in his palm.
Kakashi leapt out the Hokage window, Jiraiya following close behind.
Below, the Hokage Building's Anbu security forces mobilized, surrounding Naruto.
Tsunade, stepping out, locked eyes with him.
"Naruto," she said, her voice controlled but furious. "Explain yourself. Now."
Homura and Koharu helped Danzo to his feet, while Shizune rushed over.
"Danzo-sama, let me treat the wound—"
Danzo shoved her aside. "Forget it!"
His hands trembled with fury as he pointed at Naruto. His voice, filled with pure venom, echoed across the rooftops.
"Tsunade! If you don't give me a proper explanation for this right now—this will not end well for you!"
