Chapter 113: Chapter 112: Nagato—You Ain’t Him, Chief
In the Hiding Place
Standing beside Nagato, a woman with striking blue hair and a calm yet cold expression.
Konan spoke up, her voice filled with concern.
"That's enough, Nagato. You can't beat him right now. The Nine Tails has already been released."
Nagato's gaze flickered. He nodded silently.
This wasn't like in the anime when he was desperate to capture the Jinchūriki. He still didn't want to fight Guts to the death...at least, not now.
Through the Deva Path, Nagato spoke:
"Let Us Postpone This Fight For The Moment, Guts."
"Victory or defeat will be settled next time. The Nine Tails is no longer our priority."
Needless to say, Guts had already sensed it through his observation haki.
That overwhelming, malevolent chakra was surging straight toward Konoha like a tidal wave.
But what pissed him off the most?
This guy actually said the outcome was undecided?
Undecided?
Guts had been handing them their asses, and now he even had advanced Armament Haki. He scoffed internally.
'Does this guy really think he's a god? In my eyes, he's nothing more than a Vice Admiral at best'
Guts thought, laughing darkly to himself.
But beneath the smirk, he was genuinely worried...Tsunade's chakra was faint, and Kurenai's wasn't much better.
With a dark face, Guts stepped forward. A vein throbbed on his forehead as he spoke, his tone laced with warning.
"Next time, I'll kill you. You got lucky today. Real lucky. But if you dare show up again...if you keep causing trouble, then that'll be your end."
He said it with a grin, but the fury behind his words was visible to anyone.
Guts didn't hate Nagato. In some ways, he even understood him. But that didn't mean he was going to let this slide. Not when it crossed his bottom line.
In a flash, Guts vanished from his spot.
Moments later, he reappeared beside Tsunade and Kurenai.
Their faces lit up the instant they saw him, relieved, as if everything would be okay now that he was there.
"We're fine. Just minor injuries"
Tsunade said, gritting her teeth as she pushed herself up.
"That masked bastard's techniques were… strange."
She looked toward the chaos.
"Go. Stop the Nine Tails. We did everything we could to prevent this… and it still happened."
Guts nodded.
"You two, head back to the hospital. Prepare to stabilize Kushina's life. I'll join Minato."
He gave them a firm look.
"Don't worry. I'll win."
With that, Guts disappeared again, moving like a shadow caught in a red lightning strike.
Konoha – Near the Village Outskirts
Barely three minutes had passed since Obito unleashed the Nine Tails.
Minato was doing his best to reinforce the seal on Kushina, his hands trembling as chakra surged between them.
Guts landed beside him.
"Guts…"
Minato turned, guilt flashing in his eyes.
"I messed up. I let him trick me. The Nine Tails… it's loose."
Guts glanced at the family...Minato, Kushina, and the baby Naruto, then looked at the damage to the seal.
"We don't have time to cry about it"
Guts said quickly.
"Focus. After you finish emergency treatment, send Kushina and Naruto to the hospital. Tsunade can keep her alive."
"And you?"
Minato asked, eyes narrowing.
"I'll handle the Nine Tails. And if I'm lucky, we'll seal it back into Kushina before it's too late."
Minato hesitated. "But… you alone—"
"Believe in me, Minato!"
Guts cut him off with a grin, raising a clenched fist.
"Or better yet believe in this fist!"
For a moment, Minato was stunned. Then… somehow, he felt calm. He smiled faintly.
"Thank you. I owe you everything."
Guts smirked.
"You can repay me with meat later."
Then, he was gone again.
Konoha's Wall – Moments Later
The Nine Tails towered over the village walls. For Konoha's Chūnin guards, attacking it was like throwing leaves at a wildfire.
Each swipe of its massive claw claimed a dozen lives.
Yuhi Shinku, leading the evacuation team, shouted orders to Kakashi, Might Guy, Shiranui Genma, Iruka, and other young ninja.
"This isn't your fight! Get the civilians and younger shinobi to the mountain shelter! Go!"
"But what about Guts?"
Might Guy asked, eyes wide with concern.
"He'll come!" Shinku said.
"Until then, we hold the line!"
At the Outskirts
Sarutobi Hiruzen, Utatane Koharu, Mitokado Homura, and several members of the Sarutobi clan were suited for battle.
Hiruzen gripped his golden staff tightly.
"No matter what happens, we must keep him from getting closer to the village!"
"Yes!" the group shouted in unison.
From atop the Nine Tails head, Obito looked down with a wicked grin behind his mask.
He had the Nine Tails. He could have left but no. He wanted to burn Konoha to ash.
To erase every last trace of the boy who once dreamed of becoming Hokage.
Obito raised his hand.
A deep violet sphere of condensed chakra began to gather at the Nine Tails mouth a Tailed Beast Bomb.
Hiruzen's eyes widened.
"Everyone, get out of the way! It's a Tailed Beast Bomb!"
None of them could survive it. Not even Hiruzen.
If it hit… Konoha would be gone.
The sphere roared through the air like the wrath of a god.
BOOM!
"Galaxy Divide!!"
A black flash streaked across the sky.
Guts appeared mid-air, his fist crashing into the Tailed Beast Bomb with unrelenting force.
CRACK!!
The bomb was knocked upward, sailing into the sky like a cannonball.
BOOOOM!!!
It exploded high above, shattering the clouds and igniting the heavens but Konoha remained untouched.
Everyone stood frozen.
"He… punched it…"
Koharu said, stunned.
"He really punched the Tailed Beast Bomb."
The Konoha guards behind her erupted into cheers.
"Lord Guts is amazing!"
"As expected of the [Strongest Taijutsu Ninja in the World]!"
"He just sent a Tailed Beast Bomb flying!"
"He's not just the strongest in Konoha...he's the strongest in the entire ninja world!"
Guts landed lightly on a rooftop beside Hiruzen, cloak fluttering in the wind.
Even from afar, Shinku's reinforcements cheered.
"He really came! Lord Guts!!"
Back on the Nine Tails
Obito stared, stunned.
He hadn't seen Guts in years.
"He's grown this powerful? Already…?"
Then he laughed, voice echoing mockingly.
"But… don't you think you showed up a bit too early?"
Hiruzen frowned, not understanding what this masked man meant.
"What's he talking about…?"
Obito chuckled darkly.
"Wouldn't it have been easier if I killed them first?"
He gestured toward Utatane Koharu, Mitokado Homura, and the other elders.
"Come on… be honest. Aren't you dying to be rid of them? Wouldn't it be convenient if they just… disappeared in the chaos?"
His words cut like poison, making several shinobi flinch.
Obito spread his arms and said:
"How about it, Guts? Let's make a deal. I kill them for you. You let me walk free. No strings attached."
"Konoha loses a few annoying relics, and you get to keep your hero status. Sounds fair, doesn't it?"
