Chapter 6: Chapter 6: First Glimpse of the Hyūga’s Evolution
Uchiha Clan Compound - Clan Leader's Residence
Inside the Clan Leader's Residence were three silent figures. One, wrapped in bandages laying on a futon, was Uchiha Izuna. The second, kneeling next to him with head bowed, was Uchiha Madara. In front of them was the third, an adult. Upon his head were spiky black tresses, one hanging in front of his right eye, in almost identical fashion to Madara. Similar to Izuna, he wore a navy blue kimono with blue armor upon his person. The man that appeared almost a fusion of the two was indeed their father, the clan head of the Uchiha, Uchiha Tajima. He stood there, contemplative.
"So the two of you lost…"
"I did not lose, I was interrupted. A Hyūga intervened in our deal…his Gentle Fist, was different…better. I've never fought a Hyūga like that, so I was merely caught off guard. But apparently his brother was worse. He hurt Izuna."
Frustration lingered in his voice and face as Madara refused to acknowledge his loss. Hands clenched in fury as he glanced at Izuna, his Sharingan beginning to flicker on and off.
"I'm fine brother…I'm still alive. "
Tajima observed the solidarity of his children with quiet pride before inquiring.
"And the Hyūga? What about the Gentle Fist was different? I've never heard of those stiff Hyūgas changing anything about their vaunted taijutsu."
"Lightning."
"Lightning?"
"They use lightning now…and wind too. I'm guessing they're incorporating elemental chakra into their taijutsu and techniques. Also the one that fought me wasn't just a Hyūga…he used bones. But he didn't seem to be there to kill…only to fight."
As Tajima's visible eye narrowed, his Sharingan spun to life, 3 tomoes circulating ominously and began to pace.
"Mixed with a Kaguya…both bloodlines activated…interesting. Who would've thought they had it in them?"
Uchiha Tajima whispered to himself.
"Your loss is warranted. The Kaguya rarely possess one wielding that bloodline. Even they fear its birth. It's unexpected though that you would be left alive. Hyūgas are never known to show mercy, let alone Kaguya…they'd even kill each other. "
"Odd right? I unlocked something too though, father."
Eyes bleeding red, a tomoe sprung from within. Nodding in response, Tajima ruffled Izuna's hair.
"Then it wasn't really a loss, rest up well. Good job protecting your brother Madara. However, next time I expect you both to win."
"Yes, Father!"
Leaving his children to rest, Tajima exited his home, heading to the meeting hall.
Now to deal with the backlash.
Uchiha Clan Compound - Meeting Hall
The moment Uchiha Tajima swung open the doors of the meeting hall and entered, he was greeted with a veritable cacophony of screaming voices, all attempting to be heard over one another.
"Did Lord Izuna die?"
"I heard the Hyūgas ambushed Lords Madara and Izuna."
"We must mount a counter-attack!"
"We should kill the young Hyūgas!"
"Vengeance for Lord Izuna!"
"What of the Senjus? They must die too!"
Spittle flying, Sharingans spinning, hands slamming on the meeting table, yells echoed filling the hall. Patiently, Tajima stepped around the deranged elders, and made his way to the head of the table. Sitting down, he stared out at the chaos for a brief moment before his chakra began to build. Suddenly, he stood, Dōjutsu flaring and chakra exploding out from his body.
BOOM!
Papers flew, scrolls hit the floor, sake, tea, and accoutrements scattered and spilled. Wind whipping around the white hairs of the elders, the sounds filling the meeting hall immediately came to a halt. Fearful glances kept shooting Tajima's way as the elders began to restore the hall to its former order, including the scrolls that used to sit in front of the clan head. Sharingan beginning to fade to his usual coal black eyes, Tajima watched as the elders took their seats.
"Now that everyone has shut up, I only have one thing to say about the incident: Hyūga Hikaru and Hyūga Hiroshi as my sons' marks. Understood?"
Nods and grunts of affirmation were his response.
"Good. Onto the next business…"
Hyūga Clan Territory - Northern Border: Nightfall
Roughly a km from the Hyūga Clan's northern border roughly 35 of the Hyūga clan's strongest Jōnin gathered around the Clan Leader and the only two Elders willing to leave the clan: Hyūga Nanami and her husband, Hyūga Itsuki.
"Based on our most recent information regarding the outpost, the original 50 ninjas we counted has been reinforced by half."
"Wait, then shouldn't we request reinforcements?"
"You are the reinforcements."
Huuuuuh?!
Exclamations almost filled the dense forests before hands shot over mouths to muffle the volume of their surprise.
"I brought you here only to show you the effectiveness of the new Gentle Fist. We confirmed the outpost is mainly filled with chakra signatures at the Chūnin level. There are only 7 Jōnin confirmed. Itsuki, Nanami and I can handle it. Also, because in two weeks, nintaijutsu will be our future. Of course, if something unexpected happens, that's why you all are here. Now let's go."
Looking around almost in disbelief, the Jōnin locked eyes with each other before turning again to look at their confident Clan Leader and two Elders. Haruki simply turned before departing, with the others trailing closely behind.
Passing through the Land of the Hot Springs, and entering the Land of Frost, the drastic difference in climate caused them to slow down as they neared the mountainous border of the Land of Lightning for a quick break.
Pst…
PSSSST…
Nudging Hyūga Haruki in the ribs, Itsuki caught his attention before whispering under his breath.
"Oi. Is it really just gonna be us three fighting?"
"Of course. You haven't used it in battle yet, so it's obvious you're not going to grasp the true strength of our nintaijutsu. That's why I brought you two specifically. Trust me, the three of us are enough."
Hyūga Haruki turned before addressing the 35 Jōnin accompanying him.
"The outpost is just beyond the border. You lot will stay hidden on this side of the border within 1 km so you have a visual of the outpost. Itsuki, Nanami, with me."
Without waiting for confirmation, Hyūga Haruki crossed the border. His aunt and uncle following closely behind, the three entered the Land of Lightning and headed towards the outpost atop the mountain in front. Ascending it swiftly, three pairs of Byakugan opened simultaneously, before Haruki gestured towards the tall outpost covered in fog.
Six in Front. 3 up top. 4 guarding the left and right.
Pointing at himself before flicking his fingers forward, they understood his instructions and began to flank the outpost. Haruki shot straight forward before wind began to cloak his hands and feet. As he ran, he tucked one arm behind him and placed one in front before jumping and spinning forward, the wind trailing every movement.
"Eight Trigrams: Crescent Void Spin."
Finishing his spin, a long thin arc of wind detached from his arms before hurtling towards the ninja up top, not even disturbing the bank of fog.
Sliiiiice.
The arc passed through the patrolling ninja up top who walked forward 3 steps each before coming to a halt. Slowly, their top halves slid off their bottom halves collapsing to the ground.
Plop!
Spluuuuurt!
Entrails slid out of the top halves of the corpses as a fountain of blood sprayed upwards from their bottom halves. Blood rained down from the top of the outpost for what seemed to be several seconds before the ninja on the ground level began to feel the sticky, thick sanguine liquid coat them. They looked up to see three dead shinobi above.
"We're under attack! Identify and defend!"
They hadn't even begun to get into formation, when a set of feet landed in front of the six ninjas protecting the outpost entrance, a giant yin-yang symbol beneath them. Two Byakugan that seemed to glow from the excessive chakra flowing through it were all they could observe from within the fog. Then they heard it.
"Eight Trigrams: Dual Severing Palms."
Unlike Hiroshi's version that had been used at close-range, Haruki's palms essentially became two horizontal tornadoes that shredded everything in its path, the six shinobi and outpost entrance included.
"See? Easy."
With a smile that didn't seem to quite fit the stern and unemotional Hyūgas, Haruki stood observing the devastation, the wind around his palms seething. As the elders aiming for the left and right noticed Haruki's attack, they slowed down before making eye contact and molding their chakra. Flames engulfed Itsuki's feet whilst lightning wreathed Nanami's hands. Two cries filled the air.
"Eight Trigrams: Thunderous Impact!"
"Eight Trigrams: Molten Stride!"
