"Who could it be?"

"So, it's Konoha's Copy Ninja, Kakashi Hatake!"

A cold, low voice echoed through the air.

As the voice sounded, a figure appeared by the massive Executioner's Blade embedded in the tree trunk.

Standing atop the blade, the figure made a dramatic entrance.

There was no denying that Zabuza Momochi's appearance was nothing short of striking.

Naruto and Sakura climbed back to their feet, their eyes fixed on the man who had suddenly appeared.

The forehead protector on his head bore a horizontal slash a mark of a rogue ninja.

Recalling the earlier attack, both realized that had Sasuke not shoved them to the ground, they would likely have been cleaved in two.

Kakashi stepped forward, positioning himself between Tazuna, his team, and the enemy.

"Zabuza Momochi, one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist. This... won't be easy," Kakashi said, his expression serious.

Sasuke, however, smirked.

"Not easy? Is there anyone Hatake 'Fifty-Fifty' Kakashi finds hard to handle?"

In Sasuke's mind, Zabuza couldn't possibly compare to Kakashi.

"Step back and protect Tazuna," Kakashi instructed. "This guy is beyond what you can handle!"

"I'll take care of him..."

Just as Kakashi was about to engage with full force, Sasuke interrupted.

"Kakashi-sensei, let me give it a shot."

"I want to see how far I've come."

Kakashi turned to Sasuke, surprised. For him to volunteer to fight at such a critical moment took immense courage.

But the problem was that their opponent wasn't just any ninja.

"Sasuke, this isn't the time to mess around. This guy is one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist!"

"His strength is likely on par with mine!"

On par? Seriously?

"Is that so?" Sasuke said, a faint grin on his lips. "Even better. That means I can go all out!"

"I've got a jutsu I've been wanting to test on someone for a while, but I haven't found a suitable target until now."

Kakashi hesitated, catching on to what Sasuke was implying.

He suspected Sasuke was referring to the Lightning Release technique he had used in that incident.

The Third Hokage had specifically instructed him to investigate whether Sasuke's jutsu was related to the Lightning Release Chakra Mode used in the Hidden Cloud Village.

If it was, it could lead to serious complications.

Now Sasuke seemed eager to use the technique voluntarily, saving Kakashi the trouble of probing.

But the opponent was Zabuza Momochi a dangerous foe.

If anything went wrong, even Kakashi couldn't guarantee he'd be able to save Sasuke in time.

While Kakashi deliberated, Zabuza's interest was piqued.

A Konoha Genin, a mere kid, was volunteering to face him?

Though he didn't take the child seriously, Zabuza couldn't help but admire the boy's boldness.

Even if the boy was just a Genin, Zabuza found his courage impressive.

Not that he saw any real threat in a mere Konoha rookie.

"You've got guts, kid. You want to challenge me?"

"Very well, I'll give you a chance!"

"My Executioner's Blade has a chip in it that needs fixing, and your blood will do just fine to repair it."

As Zabuza spoke, he flipped himself onto the hilt of his massive blade, executing a gymnast-like spin, gripping it with one hand.

With a powerful motion, he pulled the blade free from the tree and landed gracefully on the ground.

"After that, I'll face the famous Copy Ninja of Konoha, Hatake Kakashi, and settle things once and for all!"

Sasuke ignored Zabuza's taunts, turning instead to glance at Kakashi.

Kakashi let out a small sigh.

"Are you sure about this?"

Sasuke nodded. "At worst, I won't be in any real danger."

"Fine, give it a try," Kakashi said, stepping back.

With Kakashi's approval, Sasuke felt no hesitation. This would be his first time using the technique, and even he wasn't sure what could go wrong.

The last thing he wanted was Kakashi stepping in prematurely and causing unintended consequences. Better to set expectations now.

Sasuke walked forward slowly.

Naruto, however, grew anxious. "Sasuke, I'll help you!"

He moved to follow but was stopped in his tracks.

Kakashi's tone grew stern. "Don't interfere, Naruto!"

Naruto froze at the sudden reprimand.

Am I really just getting in the way?

Zabuza chuckled darkly. "Kid, what's your name? For someone so bold, I might just remember it."

"Uchiha Sasuke," Sasuke replied.

"Uchiha?"

Zabuza's expression shifted slightly.

"So, there's still an Uchiha left in Konoha. I thought your clan had been wiped out!"

The remark soured Sasuke's mood.

Good, he thought. Zabuza's attitude only made him more eager to go all out.

Sakura, meanwhile, grew worried. "Sensei, is this guy really strong?"

"Strong?" Kakashi chuckled. "The Demon of the Hidden Mist, Zabuza Momochi, is about as strong as I am."

That was all Sakura needed to hear.

On the same level as Kakashi-sensei?

Can Sasuke really handle this?

Tazuna also panicked. "Hey, hey, hey! That's a fully grown ninja! Are you seriously letting a kid fight him?!"

Kakashi didn't respond, simply watching Sasuke's back as he advanced.

Sasuke finally stopped and addressed Zabuza.

"You'll be the first person to face this technique of mine."

"So before we start, let me give you a little warning."

"My speed is about to get a whole lot faster."

"Speed?"

Zabuza grinned, unfazed.

"Hahaha! A little Uchiha brat like you dares to talk about speed with me? You must not know that The Demon of the Hidden Mist is famed for the Silent Killing technique. When it comes to speed... you're not even qualified to compare yourself to me!"

"Good to know," Sasuke replied, still smiling.

With a subtle movement, he raised his hand and snapped his fingers.

Zzzzt!

A crackling bolt of lightning erupted from his fingertips in an instant.

As the lightning leaped, it enveloped Sasuke's entire body in a dazzling display of electricity.

In the blink of an eye, the sudden activation left everyone momentarily stunned, unable to fully grasp when he had even initiated the Lightning Style.

Zabuza froze in place, his mind racing.

What kind of jutsu is this?

No hand signs?

I've never seen anything like it!

Before Zabuza could act, Sasuke's figure vanished.

A streak of lightning shot through the air, closing the distance with blinding speed appearing right in front of him in an instant.
