Naruto: Scourge of the Ninja World

Chapter 58: Chapter 58 The New Principal Hatake Sakumo Breaks Tradition

These past few days, Gekko Chizan had noticed that Kushina kept running home and then dragging Pakura straight into the room, where the two of them would stay for the whole day.

Of course, Gekko Chizan knew exactly what they were doing. It wasn't just those two—he also knew what Uchiha Mikoto was up to.

It was all about Namikaze Minato and Uchiha Fugaku making special military rations.

By now, Minato should have returned. Once he did, there would definitely be a good show to watch.

With a cheerful mood, Gekko Chizan headed straight for the ninja academy.

Graduation assessments were about to begin, and apparently Chūnin exams might be held simultaneously. As a teaching assistant, he was also on the invigilation roster.

When he arrived at the academy, he saw that all students and teachers were standing on the training grounds, divided into two large formations—one big, one small.

Gekko Chizan looked on with curiosity and instinctively joined the teachers' group.

"Yo? Gekko-sensei, you've finally returned to academy after a break."

"Hey, it's just missions keeping me busy. But, Naruyu-sensei, what's all this about?"

Gekko Chizan approached a teacher, a kindly middle-aged man who had been teaching for many years.

Originally a Chūnin, his strength wasn't particularly high, but his wealth of knowledge earned everyone's respect.

"I heard we're getting a new principal."

"They say the new principal is quite the powerhouse."

"This here is the welcome ceremony the academy arranged for the new principal."

Hm? New principal? Never heard of that.

Judging from Naruyu-sensei's tone, the new principal must really be someone formidable.

Even though Konoha was relatively peaceful, it was still a ninja village—admiring the strong was only natural.

Just as he was wondering who this new principal could be...

A booming voice of welcome snapped him back to the present.

"Welcome, new principal!"

With that announcement came thunderous applause. Both students and teachers were clapping.

On the temporarily constructed platform, where originally only the old principal stood, another person suddenly appeared.

When everyone saw the newcomer, their eyes went wide with disbelief.

Because this person, though middle-aged, radiated refinement etched by the years.

His short silver-white hair was striking, and a faint smile lingered on his lips.

The only difference was—his Hokage half-robe was gone, and the stern expression on his face had softened into a smile.

"Hatake Sakumo???"

Gekko Chizan blurted out without thinking.

The next second, everyone glared at him!

"Chizan-sensei, that's Sakumo-sama! How can you call him by name so casually!"

"Sakumo-sama is the new principal of this academy, and your superior. You should show proper respect!"

The old principal's face turned red with rage.

Hatake Sakumo chuckled heartily and raised his hand to stop the old principal from lecturing further.

"Chizan, surprised, are you?"

"But I remember telling you I'd come teach at the academy."

The moment Gekko Chizan saw Hatake Sakumo, he felt his little flower quiver slightly. He finally understood why people from Yugakure once called him the White Fang.

That Thousand Years of Death technique of his—it wasn't just physical damage; it inflicted mental trauma that lingered for years.

Seeing the stunned look on Gekko Chizan's face, Hatake Sakumo chuckled again, then looked down at the students and teachers before speaking:

"I imagine most of you know who I am, so I'll just give a brief introduction."

"Hatake Sakumo, your new principal."

"I look forward to working with all of you."

Just those three simple sentences drove the audience into a frenzy!

"My god! Am I dreaming?! The famous White Fang of Konoha is now our principal?! That's incredible!"

"Hahaha! We're so lucky! With Principal Sakumo leading us, we're definitely going to become top-tier ninja!"

"Right? I almost feel sorry for those who already graduated—what a pity for them."

Listening to the students' cheers, Gekko Chizan had a strange look on his face and let out a quiet sigh:

So young... still so young. The man in front of you is a ruthless ninja, one who doesn't go easy even on his own son.

Back in the day, he made his kid graduate early—then arranged for a Jōnin to be his examiner.

And you lot think you're lucky? Poor kids, your days of suffering are just beginning.

"Everyone calm down, Principal Hatake still has something to say."

The old principal stepped up quickly to restore order once things got too wild.

Once the noise faded, Hatake Sakumo gave a slight smile and spoke again:

"Graduation exams are just around the corner."

"I have some thoughts on that matter."

"For a long time, the graduation exam has focused solely on ninjutsu evaluation. I think that's quite unfair."

"Ninja shouldn't be judged only by their skill in Ninjutsu. Genjutsu, Taijutsu, even stealth techniques—all are part of what a ninja must learn."

"Therefore, the upcoming graduation assessment will be thoroughly restructured."

"I personally believe that more students should be given the chance to show their strengths. As long as someone can excel in their own field and deliver results, then I believe they're qualified to become a ninja."

When he finished speaking, the entire grounds fell silent.

Gekko Chizan's eyes widened in shock. He never expected Hatake Sakumo would actually go this far.

Reforming the ninja academy's system—this was a massive move.

To put it bluntly, it was practically overturning the Second Hokage's policy.

But it was absolutely the right move. After all, everyone's potential lies in different areas. A one-size-fits-all approach had too many flaws.

Who said Taijutsu couldn't make someone a Kage? Give him twenty years and see if Guy couldn't open seven gates and kick him to death. If you can't wait that long, just go test Might Duy first.

And who said stealth techniques weren't presentable? Come tell that to Gekko Chizan—he'll clean out your entire house overnight.

"Hell yeah!!! Long live Principal Hatake!"

The first one to cheer was Might Guy, his flushed cheeks showing just how excited he was.

"I think Principal Hatake is absolutely right. Guy's taijutsu has long surpassed the norm, but because the exams always focused on ninjutsu, he never graduated."

"I support this!"

As Guy's friend and rival, Uchiha Obito also stepped up to voice his support.

One after another, more people began shouting out in support of Principal Hatake's wisdom.

Even the teachers, after thinking it through, agreed that this was a positive change.

In no time, the voices backing Hatake Sakumo grew louder and louder.

"Brilliant. Just brilliant. Hatake Sakumo truly deserves the title of strongest under the Hokage—just this level of courage puts him on another level."

"Shoot, I was still racking my brain trying to figure out how to get Might Guy to pass this time."

Gekko Chizan looked up at Hatake Sakumo on the platform with admiration and deep respect.

But still, revenge must be taken. The grudge of the Thousand Years of Death must be avenged!

Otherwise, he'd be haunted by psychological trauma forever!
