Chapter 26: CHAPTER 26
---
After reaching the Yamanaka compound and informing the guards, Hiruzen waited patiently.
Shortly after, Inochi Yamanaka arrived, accompanied by other clan members, all with welcoming smiles.
"Greetings, Hokage-sama. Let's move to the hall for our discussion," Inochi said warmly.
"Certainly! Please lead the way," Hiruzen replied with a polite smile, following their lead toward the hall.
The Yamanaka residence was a beautiful, traditional compound, but what stood out was the abundance of flowers that adorned the area.
The sight and scent of flowers created a refreshing atmosphere that instantly lifted Hiruzen's mood.
Being a practitioner of sage arts, Hiruzen had a deep appreciation for nature, and the environment here brought a genuine smile to his face.
"Your clan compound is quite lovely, Inochi. Very natural, with all the trees and flowers. It's refreshing," Hiruzen remarked with a sincere smile.
"Thank you for the compliment, Hokage-sama," Inochi replied graciously, pleased with the Hokage's positive impression of their residence. The other Yamanaka members shared similar thoughts, clearly proud of their surroundings.
"I'd like to arrange something similar for the Sarutobi compound. Have a contract drawn up to replicate these arrangements at my clan's residence, and send the bill to us," Hiruzen added, his tone firm but appreciative.
"I'll send someone to handle the work promptly," Inochi responded with a reassuring smile.
Soon, they arrived at the meeting hall. It was a simple room, furnished with sofas and chairs, and the windows were open, allowing the sweet scent of flowers to fill the room.
Once everyone settled, Hiruzen spoke.
"I have decided to create a new department under the Konoha Police Force and appoint you as its head," Hiruzen said in a calm, matter-of-fact tone.
He continued, "This department will be responsible for gathering evidence from criminals and ensuring that they are judged according to the village's rules. You will be working closely with the Uchiha and Hyuga clans."
Inochi took a moment to consider this, then asked, "Will we be working under the Uchiha, or directly under the village?"
"You will work under the village, which means you'll be under my direct authority," Hiruzen replied with a confident smile.
"The security division will be restructured during tomorrow's meeting, and your department will operate under the newly formed division," he clarified, addressing any doubts Inochi might have.
"Very well, Hokage-sama. We accept your arrangement," Inochi said, bowing slightly with a polite smile.
Hiruzen nodded approvingly before offering some personal advice. "Inochi, you should also consider expanding your clan's capabilities. The Second Hokage created a technique known as the Spirit Transformation Jutsu. You should aim to acquire it through your contributions to the village."
Inochi nodded, clearly intrigued. "We have had our eyes on the Spirit Transformation Jutsu, as well as your own Spirit-Control Jutsu, Hokage-sama. Ever since the Scroll of Seals list was released, we have been striving to earn that technique through service to the village."
"Good," Hiruzen said, smiling. "You're moving in the right direction. The Yamanaka clan's secret techniques are some of the finest, and if utilized correctly, they can make a significant impact."
"We are committed, Hokage-sama. After seeing the Sarutobi clan's bloodline evolve, we have been working hard to improve our own abilities as well," Inochi said, his voice resolute.
"Indeed. You should continue striving for that. Now, I must take my leave," Hiruzen said, standing up to depart.
"Thank you again for your generosity, Hokage-sama," Inochi said, bowing once more as Hiruzen left the hall.
After exiting the Yamanaka compound, Hiruzen made his way back to his office. As he settled into his chair, he reflected on the visit.
"The Yamanaka clan's abilities are impressive. I should focus more on nurturing their growth," he mused, smiling to himself.
"Now, all that's left is the Uchiha clan. Soon, the police force will be under my control, and the Uchiha will be granted a seat on the council. Once that happens, the village's internal matters will be sorted."
---
The next day arrived swiftly.
Kagami Uchiha arrived at the Hokage's office to escort Hiruzen to the Uchiha clan compound. Together, they walked through the village streets until they reached the grand gates of the Uchiha compound. The guards at the gate greeted them warmly.
"Greetings, Kagami-san, Hokage-sama," the guards said with polite smiles.
"Good day to you both," Hiruzen replied with a smile, while Kagami nodded in acknowledgment.
As they entered the Uchiha compound, Hiruzen took in the sight of the large, intricately designed buildings.
The traditional architecture was adorned with the Uchiha clan's flame-fan symbol, which was displayed proudly throughout the compound. The villagers—both young and old—greeted Hiruzen with polite smiles and bows as they passed by.
Seeing the smiles and the respectful demeanor of the Uchiha, Hiruzen's heart swelled with pride. He turned to Kagami, curiosity evident in his expression.
"The clan members seem happy. Is there a particular reason for this?" Hiruzen asked with a smile.
Kagami chuckled softly before answering. "Nothing specific. It's been peaceful since the war ended, and after you extended benefits to the civilians, many Uchiha who couldn't previously receive aid also benefited. This has eased tensions, and they are grateful."
"Ah, I see. It's good that they've received those benefits," Hiruzen replied thoughtfully. "There might even be a chance that among them, someone could awaken their bloodline limit."
"You're right, Hiruzen. I'll make sure to focus on that," Kagami said, sharing in Hiruzen's thoughtful expression.
Soon, they arrived at the Uchiha clan's meeting hall. Upon entering, the gathered Uchiha elders and leaders stood up, greeting Hiruzen with respect.
"Greetings, Hokage-sama," they said in unison.
"Good day to all of you. Please, take your seats," Hiruzen said, gesturing for them to sit down. Once everyone was settled, the meeting began.
Setsuna Uchiha, the Uchiha clan leader, spoke first. "We are honored to host you, Hokage-sama," he said, his voice steady and welcoming.
Setsuna Uchiha was a middle-aged man, though his experience dated back to the time of the Warring States period.
He was a contemporary of Madara Uchiha and the First Hokage, though he had stayed with the clan when Madara left.
He was dressed in the typical Uchiha style—dark blue robes with the fan emblem emblazoned on his back.
"It's my pleasure, Setsuna-san, to be received so warmly by the Uchiha clan," Hiruzen replied, offering a polite smile.
As Hiruzen observed the smiles of the Uchiha elders, he could sense their sincerity through his natural energy.
He thought to himself, **The Uchiha truly value loyalty and friendship. They bond deeply and don't betray those they trust. Their smiles today reflect their gratitude for the council position—they've bonded with the village even more.**
