Chapter 257: Chapter 256 : Bloody Night!!
The huge disturbance caused by the Nine-Tails spread across most of Konoha.
Smoke filled the sky, and the ground was covered in burning flames. When Kakashi and Shisui returned, they were shocked by what they saw.
"What exactly happened?!"
Shisui stared in fear and anger at the familiar buildings that had been destroyed, while the sounds of wailing filled the air.
"It's the Nine-Tails… but why?" Kakashi's gaze was fixed outside the village's high walls, where the green pyramid-shaped barrier contained the monstrous fox. His mood instantly dropped, and a terrifying thought crossed his mind: "Could it be… sensei and sensei's wife…"
Just as he took a step forward, planning to find out what had happened, he suddenly remembered the bigger problem on their hands.
Yes, Mr. A had followed them to Konoha.
Originally, Kakashi's plan had been to lure Mr. A into Konoha and then use a secret code unique to the Anbu to send out information.
Then, he and Shisui would stall for time until the village set up a trap to capture Mr. A.
But, unfortunately, things didn't go as planned.
Kakashi never imagined that even before their plan could begin, it would already be at risk of failure.
Now, Konoha couldn't even think to deal with Mr. A, and they had to be cautious of this person. If he caused more chaos, they wouldn't be able to handle it.
Clearly, Shisui had realized this too. The two exchanged a subtle glance and decided to put their "B" plan into action.
As for what the "B" plan was? Shisui paused, a bitter look crossing his face. Right now, his only hope rested on his "sensei," the terrifying Blood-Red Angel.
"Tch, it's all rubble."
Meanwhile, Mr. A didn't seem too troubled. He raised his hand to his forehead, looking around and muttering, "Let me find out where the Uchiha… the Uchiha clan is."
"Please follow me."
Shisui took a deep breath and finally spoke up.
"Oh?"
Mr. A gave Shisui a meaningful look as the latter stepped forward.
Those eyes, filled with dense blood vessels, seemed as if they could directly pierce through one's heart, making Shisui feel uneasy.
However, fortunately, Mr. A didn't say much. He simply flashed a grin and, with a meaningful tone, said, "Alright, I'll leave it to you then."
"I... sorry, may I go somewhere else?"
Kakashi hesitated and asked. He couldn't shake his worry and wanted to check on his sensei's wife.
"Sure."
Mr. A responded casually, waving his hand.
With permission granted, Kakashi exchanged a glance with Shisui, then without further hesitation, turned and ran in the opposite direction.
Shisui couldn't help but feel relieved, though truthfully, he didn't want Kakashi to go back with them.
The two of them slowly made their way toward the Uchiha compound.
The great upheaval in Konoha didn't seem to have affected the Uchiha clan.
Inside the massive clan residence, only a few scattered lights were on, casting a strange, eerie quiet over the area.
Yet, the air was thick with the heavy scent of blood.
Shisui suddenly had a bad feeling. His pupils contracted as he stepped over the threshold, his heart growing heavy as he entered the clan's grounds.
Mr. A said nothing, following behind him, continuing deeper into the compound.
The lawn was in disarray, covered with terrifying scratch marks, and the ground was littered with signs of destruction. It looked as if a wild beast had passed through, or perhaps there had been a fierce battle. Dry blood stains still lingered on the nearby grass and trees.
The growing sense of foreboding weighed on Shisui's mind, and he could no longer remain calm.
He quickened his pace, running desperately toward the heart of the clan.
"Shido!"
"Reima!"
"Koukei!"
"Is anyone here? Is anyone around?!"
Shisui shouted loudly, calling out the names of people he knew.
However, there was no response. The large Uchiha clan compound was shrouded in an eerie silence.
When he reached a street, Shisui's pupils shrank, and his heart sank.
The wide street was covered with dried blood, and dismembered limbs and broken bodies were scattered all over the ground. It was hard to find a whole corpse.
Shisui walked through the street with a dazed look. Among the scattered body parts, he seemed to see familiar faces—friends and family from his past.
However, the severed heads of those people were filled with disbelief and endless terror, as if they had seen some terrifying monster.
The air around him felt frozen. The fear seemed like a ghost in the dark, silently consuming Shisui's sanity.
"No... this can't be true."
Shisui trembled violently, constantly denying the terrifying thoughts racing through his mind.
As if trying to prove that this was all a nightmare, he ran madly down the street, heading deeper into the compound. He pushed open every door along the way, not leaving a single one unchecked.
But the hopeless truth was that no matter how many doors he opened, there was not a single living person inside.
The blood flowing on the ground and the stench in the air seemed to stain the silent night with a terrifying blood-red hue.
Unable to accept it, Shisui continued searching the clan's compound, desperately looking for anyone who might have survived.
"Sensei!"
"Sensei!"
"Sensei!"
Shisui finally thought of one person. Maybe only she could explain all of this.
However, cruel reality disappointed him once again. No matter how much he called, no one responded, only the hollow echo of his voice.
"Kid, you'd better step aside."
At this moment, the silent Mr. A suddenly stepped forward, his eyes fixed on something ahead.
Shisui, still confused about what had happened, was about to ask when he saw a small figure stumbling out of the shadows.
"Is that... Itachi?"
In an instant, Shisui recognized the small figure.
But the next moment, as Itachi stepped out from the shadows, Shisui's expression changed drastically, and his eyes burned with intense fury.
The five-year-old Itachi was drenched in blood, looking like a blood-soaked corpse. He was dragging a person who had been tortured and was covered in wounds.
The battered person was someone Shisui knew.
It was Fugaku's mistress.
To be precise, ever since Uchiha Mikoto took power, she had stopped caring about Fugaku, and the mad Fugaku wandered around aimlessly.
Occasionally, he would regain some clarity, and in order to care for Fugaku, the clan assigned him a woman. The person Itachi had tortured was her.
The woman was still alive, her abdomen swollen, clearly pregnant.
Perhaps it was because of the unborn child in her belly, but despite having gone through such horrific torment, the woman was still alive. She gazed at Shisui with eyes full of longing, as if pleading with him.
It was as if she was silently begging, "Save me, save the child inside me!"
"You... What did you do? Itachi!" Shisui shouted, his voice filled with anger as he confronted the child who looked almost like a blood-soaked figure.
In response to Shisui's question, Itachi only tilted his head slightly, his innocent eyes meeting Shisui's: "Shisui, why are you angry? I just... I just returned them to the embrace of the 'True Creator.' Everyone should be thanking me, right?"
His voice was broken, with strange static mixed in. When the words reached Shisui's ears, they caused a strange, sharp pain to shoot through his nerves.
"Where... where is sensei?" Shisui clutched his head in agony, his eyes bloodshot, asking, "What did you do to sensei?"
"She... was in my way," Itachi said, his lips curling into a twisted grin under the pale moonlight. His teeth were stained with blood. "But... I couldn't beat her. She ran away. So... will you stop me, Shisui?"
