Chapter 19: Not All Scars Fade
Tsunade stared at the two redheads sitting beside Shisui, her golden eyes narrowing slightly. A tired sigh escaped her lips.
So… this was how it starts.
Peace never lasts long.
"You decided to bring them to me," she muttered, glancing toward Kaori. The moment her eyes landed on the deep, half-healed bite marks across the woman's neck and shoulders, irritation flared behind her calm expression.
She didn't need to be told what had happened.
She could guess. And it disgusted her.
Shisui, responded dryly. "Or what, you'd prefer I send them to the old monkey? Let him open up a factory where new Jinchūriki candidates roll out every year?"
His voice dripped sarcasm. But there was truth buried in the bite.
Tsunade ignored the jab—though her jaw did tighten slightly at the nickname. 'Monkey.' He always called Hiruzen that, especially when he was trying to provoke her.
She turned her attention back to Kaori, studying the lines around her eyes—the distrust, the suspicion, the quiet, simmering anger that only someone who's been betrayed too many times could wear so naturally.
Tsunade exhaled again.
How could she not understand what the woman was thinking?
The Uzumaki were the first to vanish.
The cries for help had come too late. And the Senju… hadn't answered fast enough.
By the time word reached them, everything had already burned.
Sometimes Tsunade wondered if the message had ever been allowed to reach them at all. And after what Shisui told her days ago… about Danzo, about ROOT… about Hiruzen turning a blind eye…
She didn't doubt it anymore.
Not even a little.
Tsunade's gaze shifted to Karin, who had been quietly observing her with wide, curious eyes—until their eyes met. At that moment, the girl flinched slightly and looked away.
Tsunade frowned.
She understood instantly.
If Karin had been taken to Konoha without someone to protect her, her future would've already been sealed. Another tool. Another asset. Another sealed fate.
Bringing them here… had been the right call.
Tsunade crouched beside Kaori first, inspecting the old bite marks with practiced eyes. Her brow furrowed deeper with each second.
"She's going to need long-term treatment," she said flatly, her voice unusually grave. "From what I can see, if it weren't for her Uzumaki vitality, she would've died long ago. Those bites weren't just physical—they drained her life force."
She ran a hand lightly over one of the faded marks.
"But even the Uzumaki have limits. Too much of her energy was taken. The damage is… permanent."
Kaori's shoulders stiffened, but she didn't speak.
Tsunade stood slowly and crossed her arms.
"I can stabilise her condition," she continued. "Ease the pain. Prevent further deterioration. But as for restoring her to what she once was? That's not possible anymore. Her life force has been drained too far."
Her expression turned firm.
"She needs to stop using her healing ability—completely. If she doesn't… she won't survive more than a year or two."
As she finished speaking, Tsunade's eyes drifted toward Shisui.
He looked completely relaxed—leaning back, arms crossed, no reaction on his face. But she knew he understood.
She was talking about him.
After all, he hadn't brought them here just out of kindness. Yes, part of it was to help them—but another part was strategy. Insurance. Potential.
Tsunade wasn't naïve. She knew what kind of future he was planning. The fall of Konoha wasn't just some abstract idea to him—it was a calculated, inevitable goal.
And these two?
They could become pieces on his board.
But even knowing that, Tsunade didn't say anything. Not because she approved—but because she understood.
Until he gave her a reason to step in, she wouldn't move.
"You should change their hair colour," he suggested casually, glancing at Tsunade. "The red stands out too much. Too… noticeable."
In a world where chakra signatures could be suppressed, appearances still mattered. And bright Uzumaki red? That was a beacon. A target.
Tsunade let out a short breath through her nose, nodding slightly. "Yeah… I figured you'd say that."
"I've got better dye than whatever back-alley trick you used to hide them till now," Tsunade added. "It won't wash out in a single rain."
"Shizune, start checking them," she called.
Shizune, who had been quietly listening until now, immediately stood up and got to work. With calm professionalism, she turned to Kaori and Karin.
"Please come with me," she said gently. "It won't take long."
Kaori glanced at Shisui, who gave her a subtle nod. Without a word, she rose, taking Karin's hand. The girl followed, quiet and watchful, as always.
Shizune led them out of the room, understanding full well that her sensei wanted to speak with Shisui alone.
"Does anyone else know about them?" she asked sharply, her tone laced with quiet threat.
Shisui didn't flinch."No one. Just the ones who treated them like that."
Tsunade's eyes narrowed. "You didn't… take care of them?"
Her voice carried a mix of disbelief and disapproval. For someone like him, letting enemies live wasn't typical.
Shisui leaned back slightly. Calm. Unbothered. "Unless Kusagakure's higher-ups are absolutely sure who did it, they're not going to say a word. If they tell Konoha the truth, the first one Danzo will target… is them."
Tsunade was silent for a moment, expression unreadable.
He wasn't wrong.
If word got out that an Uzumaki had resurfaced—especially one with a strong healing ability—Danzo would come down on Kusagakure with everything he had. Officially or not.
Tsunade crossed her arms, frowning slightly. "How are you planning to handle them?"
Shisui didn't answer right away. He knew exactly who she meant.
"It depends on them," he said finally.
"Depends on them?" Tsunade repeated, her voice edged with doubt.
He nodded. "Yeah. Whether they want to help me or not, whether they want revenge or just want to disappear—it's entirely their choice. I'm not forcing anything. I won't ask them to do something they don't want to."
His tone was calm. Honest. Like he'd already made peace with whatever answer they'd give.
Tsunade watched him for a moment longer, expression unreadable. Then, quietly, she said:
"Then make sure to keep your promise ."

World Travel Plan (Duration: 5 or more years)
1. One Piece
(I haven't watched it yet.)
2. Quanzhi Fashi (Full-Time Mage)
(I read up to the part where he attacks the city/ organisation to save his sister. He saw the Undead King ICE lover. He also obtained some dragon artifacts from Arisha or whatever her name was and then I stopped reading. I don't remember much about the power system, timeline, villains, or arcs.)
Choose one world and explain why it is useful, how much his power level would increase, and whether he can gain subordinates.
