Naruto: Starting with Infinite Chakra

Chapter 26: Chapter 26: Nothing Worth Mentioning

"You really need to control your wife. She's far too hospitable. Every time you're out on a mission, she invites members of the Anbu to your house. They end up needing to lean against the walls just to walk back to HQ. This is affecting our unit's efficiency," Shimura Danzō reprimanded coldly.

The rabbit-masked ninja felt like his head was glowing green, as if emitting a glaring light. He nearly burst into tears.

Damn it. Do you think I want my wife to act this way? It's not like I have a choice. You're the one sending me on night missions all the time, leaving her alone at home. What do you expect?

"When your injuries heal, resume monitoring Jiraiya. Report his training progress every two days," Danzō commanded, his tone brooking no argument.

In Danzō's mind, there was a high probability that Jiraiya possessed a special bloodline. While neither of Jiraiya's parents nor his clan had ever shown signs of one, it could simply be dormant. After all, not every member of the Uchiha Clan awakens the Sharingan—it often requires external stimuli. It's entirely possible that Jiraiya's bloodline was recently awakened by some coincidence.

'Hiruzen, your eye for talent is as sharp as ever,' Danzō muttered to himself with a hint of dissatisfaction.

"I'm already in this sorry state. Can't you give me an extended leave so I can spend some quality time with my wife?" the rabbit-masked ninja pleaded, his voice filled with desperation.

"I advise against taking time off," Danzō replied curtly. "In your current condition, staying at home might just leave you completely bedridden, courtesy of your wife."

"That's right. Your wife's a powerhouse. You can barely handle her when you're healthy—how do you expect to survive while injured?" chimed in another Anbu member following behind Danzō.

"I'm much sturdier than you, and even I have to hold onto the walls to get to work the day after visiting your house," another added, grinning mischievously.

The group's teasing left the rabbit-masked ninja trembling with anger, his words caught in his throat.

"You… all of you…" He could barely speak, his body shaking uncontrollably.

"We know you're grateful for us looking after your wife in your absence," someone teased. "No need to get so emotional about it."

...

That morning, Jiraiya finished washing up and eating breakfast before silently issuing a command in his mind.

Ding!

[Sign-in successful. You've received the B-rank Fire Release: Flaming Tiger Technique.]

The system's prompt echoed crisply in Jiraiya's mind.

"Give me a detailed description of this technique," he thought.

Jiraiya had never heard of this jutsu before. He wasn't sure if it was something created by the system or an obscure technique from the world of shinobi. After all, the vast number of jutsu in this world made it impossible to know them all. Still, he was quite pleased with today's reward—B-rank techniques were considered advanced. Some smaller ninja villages didn't even have a single B-rank jutsu in their arsenal.

"This technique requires ninja tools as a medium. It transforms them into flaming tigers that attack enemies, roaring and unleashing sonic waves to disrupt them," the system explained.

As expected, this system was incredibly user-friendly. This particular jutsu could perfectly complement Jiraiya's Thunder Flame Blade, which further amplified fire-based techniques—by a substantial margin, no less. With this synergy, the Flaming Tiger Technique's power would rival that of an A-rank jutsu.

"Would you like to extract the Flaming Tiger Technique now?" the system prompted.

"Once extracted, you will master the technique instantly, without needing to train further."

"Yes, extract it," Jiraiya replied without hesitation.

According to the system, extracting the jutsu would allow him to unleash its full potential immediately—no grueling training required. Truly a considerate system. If it had a physical form, Jiraiya would have considered finding it a reward—perhaps even kidnapping a chubby girl as a gift. He was sure the system would be moved to tears.

Ding!

[Extraction complete: Flaming Tiger Technique.]

A stream of information about the jutsu flowed into Jiraiya's mind, detailing every aspect of its execution. Satisfied with his new skill, he headed toward the training field behind the Hokage's office. Today, Sarutobi Hiruzen was scheduled to teach them something new.

"Never waste your youth—keep roaring, youth!"

As Jiraiya approached the Hokage's office, he spotted Might Duy jogging on his hands. The sight made him pause.

'That man's dedication… If only his talent matched his efforts, he wouldn't have died so young,' Jiraiya sighed.

The world of shinobi was brutally realistic—a place where strength was dictated by bloodline and ancestry. Those born with talent and lineage were destined for greatness. For instance, Might Duy sacrificed his life opening the Eight Gates, only managing to take down four of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, while three escaped. His son, Might Guy, however, was able to challenge the likes of Six Paths Madara.

If it had been Guy opening the Eight Gates against the Seven Ninja Swordsmen, none of them would've walked away. Such was the gap in their innate potential.

Jiraiya chose not to disturb Duy, instead heading straight for the training field. When he arrived, he found Orochimaru and Tsunade already waiting.

"Jiraiya, showing up late again? Were you spying on the women's bathhouse last night and overslept?" Tsunade teased, her tone laced with mockery. Teasing Jiraiya had become a habit for her.

In the original story, had Dan Katō not appeared, Jiraiya and Tsunade might have had a real chance at a relationship. Some even speculated that Dan was deliberately placed by Hiruzen and Danzō to keep the two apart, fearing their union might threaten their hold on power. Afterward, Dan's death and Tsunade's hemophobia drove her away from Konoha, leaving the Senju Clan further fragmented.

"Tsunade, don't be so prejudiced against me. I've already seen every bathhouse in the village. Unless a new one opens, I'm officially retired from peeping," Jiraiya shot back, grinning.

"How many shuriken clones can you create now?" Orochimaru interjected, unwilling to let their bickering drag on.

"Not much progress. Nothing worth mentioning," Jiraiya replied modestly.

"Specific numbers?" Orochimaru pressed. Having mastered the technique himself, he was curious to see how his progress compared to Jiraiya's.
