Chapter 185: Chapter 185: Teaching Sage Mode
"Kid, what do you want now? I'm busy! Developing the new medicine has reached a critical stage. If you don't have a good reason for dragging me here, I swear we're going to have a problem!"
Tsunade, dressed in her lab coat, glared unceremoniously at Akira.
She had rushed over the moment she received his summons, not even bothering to change out of her work clothes.
Uchiha Fugaku and Uchiha Shisui, also present, exchanged curious looks as they turned to Akira.
The two had been working in the Agriculture Department recently, utilizing Wood Release under expert guidance to cultivate new crops.
"This is, of course, a matter of great importance." Akira smiled, entirely unfazed by Tsunade's bluntness.
Tsunade raised an eyebrow, barking, "Important? What's so urgent? Are you planning to strike first and take out Nagato in the Land of Rain?"
"You're joking, Lady Tsunade." Akira shook his head with a chuckle. "We're not ready for that yet. Today's meeting is about Sage Techniques."
"Sage Techniques?" Tsunade repeated in surprise.
In her experience, the Uchiha clan had always prioritized their Sharingan above all else—a perspective deeply ingrained, thanks to figures like Uchiha Madara.
"That's right. Sage Techniques." Akira nodded firmly. "I've mastered Sage Mode and brought you all here to teach it."
"You've mastered Sage Mode!?" Tsunade exclaimed, her disbelief evident. "Where on earth did you learn it? Sage Techniques are incredibly dangerous!"
Fugaku and Shisui were equally astonished.
They were well aware of the legendary Sage Mode—a unique chakra state capable of significantly enhancing one's abilities. Under Sage Mode, ninjutsu's power could multiply several times over. A jonin could rise to the level of a Kage, and not just any Kage, but one of extraordinary strength.
"You could say I created my own Sage Mode." Akira grinned.
"You created it yourself!?" Tsunade's eyes widened.
"Developed on your own?" Shisui and Fugaku looked at Akira in disbelief. It sounded outrageous.
Akira nodded. "More or less. Though I'm not sure if it can be taught to others."
"Did the First Hokage ever try to pass on his own Sage Mode?" Akira asked, looking at Tsunade curiously.
Tsunade shook her head. "Actually, my grandfather's Sage Mode wasn't entirely his own creation. It was derived from the teachings of the Slug Sage in Shikkotsu Forest. He used their techniques as a foundation to develop his own."
Akira nodded, his curiosity satisfied.
Since Hashirama's Sage Mode wasn't completely self-created, it made sense that he hadn't passed it on to others.
Similarly, Jiraiya's Sage Mode, learned from Mount Myoboku, couldn't be taught to just anyone.
"Sage Mode is extremely difficult to master. Even if my grandfather had tried to teach it, back then, only my granduncle might've been capable of learning it," Tsunade added with a shake of her head.
Akira nodded before asking, "Lady Tsunade, have you ever trained in Sage Mode at Shikkotsu Forest?"
"No," Tsunade replied, shaking her head. "My chakra reserves weren't sufficient, so I gave up."
"What!?" Fugaku and Shisui were stunned.
Tsunade's chakra reserves weren't enough? She was the granddaughter of the First Hokage, Senju Hashirama, whose chakra rivaled the Nine-Tails itself!
Seeing their shock, Tsunade explained, "Compared to most ninja, my chakra reserves are abundant. But they still didn't meet the requirements for training in Sage Mode—at least not the kind taught in Shikkotsu Forest."
Attempting Sage Mode without sufficient chakra would lead to being overwhelmed by natural energy.
"That's partly why the Yin Seal was developed," Tsunade added.
The Yin Seal, a powerful S-rank medical ninjutsu, allowed its user to store chakra for years, maintaining youth and vitality.
"Still, Fifth Hokage, just because you couldn't learn it back then doesn't mean you can't now. Besides, with the Yin Seal, you can release stored chakra to meet the requirements," Akira pointed out.
Akira wasn't concerned about Fugaku or Shisui.
As members of the Uchiha clan, they naturally possessed vast chakra reserves. With their Mangekyo Sharingan activated and Hashirama cells implanted, their chakra levels were more than adequate.
Tsunade raised an eyebrow. "Fine. I'll give it a shot. Let's see how your Sage Mode compares to the one from Shikkotsu Forest."
"Shadow Clone Jutsu!"
Poof!
Two shadow clones appeared beside Akira.
Ten minutes later, both the clones and Akira himself completed the process of gathering natural energy and entered Sage Mode.
His forehead bore a pattern resembling an eye, and black markings extended from the corners of his eyes.
Tsunade studied him intently.
It's somewhat similar to my grandfather's, she thought.
But she couldn't resist pointing out, "Your Sage Mode isn't very refined yet. It takes you too long to activate it, even longer than Jiraiya. That's hardly practical in battle."
"You're absolutely right," Akira admitted. "My Sage Mode still needs work. Its activation speed is a significant drawback."
He turned to the three of them. "Now, I'll infuse my Sage Chakra into your bodies and guide the natural energy in. All you need to do is maintain the correct balance to form Sage Chakra yourselves."
Having already explained the theory to them, Akira decided to skip the slow, traditional training.
Following the methods of Ryuchi Cave, he would directly infuse natural energy into their bodies. This approach bypassed the need to sense natural energy initially. Once they succeeded, they could work on improving their sensitivity later.
"Ready?" Akira asked.
"Let's do it," the three replied in unison.
Akira stepped forward, channeling his Sage Chakra into each of them.
As the powerful chakra coursed through their bodies, Tsunade couldn't hide her amazement.
So this is Sage Chakra… It's far stronger than ordinary chakra!
