Chapter 17: Death and Gift
[Words :- 1373]
Nearly six months had passed since Tatsuya's arrival in Uzushiogakure, and his schedule remained packed. His mornings began with basic exercises, followed by quality time with his grandmother, listening intently to her stories of the past.
.
.
Afterwards, his mother would escort him to practice calligraphy, a skill he was diligently refining.
.
.
In addition to his daily routine, Tatsuya dedicated time to training his eyes, striving to grasp the intricacies of chakra. He focused on understanding its nature, movement, and transformation from its natural state to the respective elemental jutsu.
.
.
His persistence yielded progress, as he could now perceive the flow of chakra with greater ease.
.
.
A significant breakthrough occurred when Tatsuya discovered he could subtly discern the nature energy present around him, albeit in scant amounts. This newfound ability expanded his understanding of the intricate balance between chakra and the natural world.
.
.
In addition to discovering natural energy, Tatsuya made another groundbreaking finding. He realized that elemental chakra existed naturally, contradicting his initial assumption.
.
.
Previously, he believed that chakra had to be converted from its normal state to an elemental state through human manipulation. However, this notion only applied to the changes humans induced in normal chakra.
.
.
In nature, Tatsuya observed that elements like water, fire, and lightning were composed of their respective elemental chakra. This led him to wonder if this principle should also apply to air and earth.
.
.
Logically, air should be comprised of wind chakra, but despite intense focus, Tatsuya couldn't discern the presence of wind chakra within it.
.
.
Examining the ground, he found earth release chakra present, but it manifested as minute particles rather than waves, unlike the fire and water release chakra.
.
.
This discrepancy sparked more questions, and Tatsuya's curiosity deepened. The mysteries of chakra and its natural occurrences seemed to be unfolding, yet the more he learned, the more enigmatic it became.

[Tatsuya's pov]
Reflecting on the past six months, I realized that my days had fallen into a comfortable routine. After practicing calligraphy and experimenting with my ocular abilities, I would often visit the serene waterfall nearby. As the sun began to set, I would join Mito, who had become a wonderful friend, for a game of ninja tag or practice with wooden ninja tools.
.
.
Some might view my interactions with Mito as childish, but they didn't understand my circumstances. Having been forced to mature prematurely due to my parents' early passing in my previous life, I cherished this opportunity to relive my childhood. I wasn't about to let it slip away.
.
.
Mito's approach to ninja training was characteristically Uzumaki type- favoring hand-to-hand combat over tools....cough..
Often resulting in me returning home with bruises. Our evenings were filled with laughter and excitement.
.
.
As the day drew to a close, I would return home for dinner, where my family and I would share stories and enjoy each other's company. My mom would occasionally tease me about Mito, as to how she would best me in ninja games. Now I wasn't about to tell her that it was I who went easy on her ...sometimes.. .cough..
.
.
Over the past few months, I had also met Mito's parents and the revered Grand Elder. His commanding presence was undeniable, but Mito's mischievous antics would often leave us in stitches - particularly when she would playfully tug on the Grand Elder's lengthy beard.

.
As the evening sun cast its warm glow, I returned home, exhilarated from a thrilling race with Mito. Our competitions had become a regular occurrence, and I mostly emerged victorious. Mito would often ask me to reveal my secret, but I struggled to find the right words. It was as if my body instinctively responded to the surrounding air, harnessing an innate ability that felt almost inherited.
.
.
My natural speed and agility allowed me to react swiftly to any stimulus, all without relying on chakra.
.
.
As I approached the door, I noticed my mom waiting for me, which was unusual. Typically, she would be engaged in conversation with Grandma at this hour. I removed my footwear, and my gaze fell upon an unexpected sight: both my uncle and grandfather had returned home early, another bad omen. My mom's eyes, brimming with unshed tears, caught my attention.
.
.
"Mom, what's wrong? Why are you so sad?" I asked, concern etching my voice.
.
.
She lifted me in her arms, with a practiced ease. Her expression faltered, and she struggled to maintain her composure. "Tatsuya, Grandma would like to see you," she said, her voice trembling.
.
.
I sensed a hint of urgency in her tone, and my curiosity was piqued. "Is everything okay, Mom?" I pressed, feeling a growing sense of unease.
.
.
My mom's eyes locked onto mine, and I saw a deep sadness reflected within them. "Let's just go see Grandma, Tatsuya. She needs to talk to you," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
.
.
As I entered Grandma's room, I saw my uncle and grandfather standing a few steps away from her bed. My mom followed closely behind me. Grandma's frail body rested on the bed, but her eyes sparkled with warmth as she smiled at me.
.
.
"Well, Tatsuya, did you have fun?" she asked, her tone soothing and gentle.
.
.
" Hmm " I hummed in response, my eyes welling up with tears. I sensed that something was amiss, and my heart felt heavy. I broke free from my mom's arms and rushed to Grandma's side, sitting on her lap.
.
.
"Grandma, is something happening to you? Shouldn't you have more years to live?" I blurted out, my words tumbling forth without restraint.I know it was rude for me to say that she had only a few years to live, but I just didn't have any control on my mouth at that moment.
.
.
Grandma's expression turned somber, but her voice remained calm and gentle. "No, boy, you never know when one may leave this world. Nothing is determined. My time has come, Tatsuya, but I couldn't leave without saying goodbye to my lovely grandchild."
.
.
She raised her frail arms and gently squeezed my cheeks. Tears streamed down my face as I gazed at her, taking in the gentle aura that surrounded her.
.
.
"Shh, don't go crying on me now," she whispered. "Do you want your grandmother to see tears on your face in her last moments ?"
.
.
Suddenly, the room emptied, leaving only Grandma and me behind. I looked up at her in confusion, but before I could ask why everyone had left, her hands began to glow. She transferred almost all of her chakra into my body through my cheeks.
.
.
A searing pain shot through my eyes and heart as the foreign chakra coursed through my veins. At that moment I could feel that if I tried I could unlock my chakra pathways, but remembering my mom's previous advice I refrained.
.
.
A low growl escaped my lips. " Arghhh! " but it was quickly silenced, when her hand stopped glowing
.
.
My eyes locked onto Grandma's face, which had grown even more withered. Her voice was barely above a whisper as she spoke her final words though it remained sweet until the last moment:
.
.
"Remember, Tatsuya, things are not always as they seem. What you know is only what has been allowed for you to see...Remember that. Try to see beyond. Take care, Senju Tatsuya."
.
.
Her eyes closed, and her body went still. I gazed upon her lifeless form, tears streaming down my face. Her words, though cryptic, still resonated with me, but I couldn't process their meaning. All I could do was mourn the loss of my beloved grandmother.
.
.
My mom appeared behind me, wrapping her arms around me in a warm hug. Her face was wet with tears as she held me close. As I looked around, I saw that my uncle was also crying, tears streaming down his face. My grandfather, though his eyes were red-rimmed, struggled to maintain his composure, unwilling to show his emotions in front of his children and grandchild.

[A/n :- Initially, when I watched Naruto three years ago, I didn't have a negative opinion of Sarutobi Hiruzen. However, after reading numerous fanfictions, it seems my perception has been thoroughly manipulated, to the point where I dislike him even more than Danzo 😂.😂😂
Powestones and reviews are awaited...]
