Chapter 196: 196. Happy Wedding
Sora wanted to address Kakashi's problem of consuming chakra too quickly and had thought of three possible solutions.
The third method Sora considered was Sage Mode.
Kakashi had already formed a contract with Ryūchi Cave and was qualified to learn their senjutsu.
However, mastering Ryūchi Cave's senjutsu was even more difficult than developing a Cursed Seal.
Despite this, if successful, the improvements for Kakashi would be enormous.
Among the three methods, Sora decided to reject the Cursed Seal approach and instead chose to have Kakashi learn both the Yin Sealing Technique and Ryūchi Cave's Sage Mode.
But there would be a proper order to follow.
First, he would have Kakashi learn the Yin Sealing Technique to store chakra during normal times. This would allow Kakashi to fight for extended periods and overcome his limitation of quickly depleting his chakra reserves.
Only after mastering this would Kakashi be qualified to travel to Ryūchi Cave to learn Sage Mode.
Otherwise, if Kakashi's chakra became exhausted during training, he would likely transform into a snake and be eaten by the White Snake Sage's subordinates.
Sora said to Kakashi, "Regarding your problem with excessive chakra consumption, I've come up with two solutions for you.
The first is to learn the Yin Sealing Technique.
This technique lets you accumulate chakra during normal times and store it within a seal, which you can release when needed.
Kushina knows this sealing technique, so you can learn it from her.
As for the second method, you'll need to master the Yin Sealing Technique first before I tell you about it. Until then, you aren't qualified to know about the second method."
Kakashi nodded and said, "I understand, Sora-sensei."
Sora stood up and said, "Alright, then come home with me. Kushina has been wondering why you've been coming over for dinner less frequently lately."
Kakashi's expression instantly turned deadpan.
Why was he visiting less often?
Because he didn't want to be the third wheel around the lovey-dovey couple!
On the way home, Sora thought about contacting Yahiko after the wedding to check on the formation of the Akatsuki organization, and then visiting Ryūchi Cave to see if he could successfully learn their Sage Mode.
If he failed, he could always use witness points to acquire it directly.
Sora didn't feel bad about using witness points to obtain Sage Mode. After all, the power of senjutsu was truly formidable.
This way, when Kakashi decided to train in Sage Mode, Sora would be able to provide some helpful advice from experience.
...
Time passed day by day.
Sora and Kushina had chosen a traditional shrine-style ceremony for their wedding, which would be held at the Inari Shrine in the Land of Fire.
Sora made several trips to and from the shrine, consulting with the priest about the wedding procedures and necessary preparations.
When everything was finally ready, it was time for the wedding to begin.
Seven days later.
The wedding of Sora and Uzumaki Kushina was set to take place at Inari Shrine.
As Sora's mentor and student respectively, Orochimaru and Kakashi greeted the guests at the entrance of the shrine.
The invited guests were already arriving one after another, bearing congratulatory gifts.
In the changing room inside the shrine, Sora and Kushina had already donned their wedding attire.
Sora wore a traditional montsuki kimono with hakama.
The formal outfit consisted of the kimono worn over an inner kosode.
Kushina was dressed in a beautiful white uchikake kimono with a traditional watabōshi, a white cotton hood on her head. The white hood symbolized warding off evil spirits and protection from harm.
Kushina appeared very nervous, constantly fidgeting with her fingers.
Sora placed his hand reassuringly on her shoulder and smiled, "Relax, there's no need to be nervous. Just follow the ceremony as we practiced. Haven't we rehearsed this at home several times?"
Kushina took several deep breaths, but her expression fell again, "No, Sora, I'm still so nervous!"
Sora took Kushina's hand in his, "Don't worry, I'll always be by your side."
Kushina suddenly felt at ease. A smile spread across her face, and she nodded vigorously.
At that moment, the door to the changing room opened, and Kakashi stood in the doorway, saying, "Sensei, it's time. The wedding ceremony is about to begin."
Sora and Kushina looked at each other and smiled.
They stood up from their chairs and left the changing room hand in hand.
Standing in front of the main hall, Kakashi entered first and announced, "The bride and groom will now enter!"
Sora gave Kushina's hand a gentle squeeze and whispered, "Let's go."
Sora and Kushina entered the main hall of the shrine hand in hand.
Applause erupted from all the guests.
The couple stood before the shrine altar, waiting for the ceremony to proceed.
Orochimaru stepped forward and announced, "We will now conduct the purification ceremony."
The purification ritual was meant to cleanse the body, mind, and soul.
While reciting sacred words, the priest sprinkled water droplets over Sora and Kushina to ward off misfortune.
After the purification ceremony concluded, Orochimaru continued, "Next, the norito prayer will be offered!"
The priest held up prayers dedicated to the kami and began to read aloud, informing the deities of Sora and Kushina's marriage and asking for their blessing upon the couple.
After the prayer was recited, Orochimaru announced, "The san-san-kudo ceremony will now begin!"
A shrine maiden presented a sake flask and two cups, handing one cup each to Sora and Kushina.
The sake used in the ceremony was called "san-san-ku-do." The phrase "three-three-nine-times" represented the exchange of nine cups, symbolizing a long and prosperous life together.
Sora and Kushina performed the ritual of pouring and drinking sake three times, with three cups each time, totaling nine exchanges.
Although the cups were small, Kushina's face had turned slightly red after drinking so many cups of sake.
Sora asked softly, "Are you alright?"
Kushina returned her cup to the shrine maiden and smiled, "Of course!"
The guests watching the ceremony smiled happily at the couple on the altar.
Namikaze Minato held Uzumaki Miyuki's hand tightly beside him and gave her a gentle smile.
Seeing something in Minato's eyes, Miyuki seemed to realize his thoughts and lowered her head with blushing cheeks.
As Sarutobi Hiruzen and Biwako watched Sora and Kushina's wedding, they were reminded of their own ceremony years ago. The couple exchanged glances and smiled at each other, then led the audience in another round of applause.
After the applause subsided, the ceremony continued, with Orochimaru announcing, "The bride and groom will now make their vows to the gods."
Orochimaru handed written oaths to both Sora and Kushina.
After bowing to the shrine, they accepted the oaths and began to recite them.
At the conclusion of their recitation, Sora and Kushina looked into each other's eyes and said in unison, "I, Sora (I, Uzumaki Kushina), vow from this day forward to help and love one another, and to build a beautiful family together."
The priest then held two sakaki branches with paper streamers attached to them and stood before Sora and Kushina.
Seeing that the priest was ready, Orochimaru announced, "Next, the tamagushi offering."
Sora and Kushina each took a sakaki branch from the priest, turned it halfway in a clockwise direction with the base facing the shrine, then bowed twice, clapped their hands twice, bowed once more, and presented it as an offering.
The wedding ceremony had reached its final step: "Finally, a toast with family and friends!"
Sora and Kushina raised their cups, and Sora thanked everyone, "Thank you all for attending and witnessing my wedding with Kushina. Please join us in this ceremonial toast!"
Sora, Kushina, and all the guests raised their cups and drank the sake.
After drinking, everyone congratulated the couple in unison:
"Sora! Kushina! Congratulations on your wedding!"
