naruto: the last brother to the ghost of the uchiha

Chapter 6: the squad

The news of the battle spread like wildfire across the ninja world. The three brothers—Jinx, Madara, and Izuna—had not only survived but had dealt a crushing blow to the Ishigami Clan, eliminating nearly 10% of their forces in a single encounter. Yet, it was not the loss of warriors that left the great clans in shock. It was the revelation of Jinx's terrifying abilities.

For years, Jinx had been dismissed as nothing more than Tajima Uchiha's failure of a son. A disappointment. A disgrace to the Uchiha name. Many had written him off as a weakling unworthy of mention, overshadowed by the prodigious talents of Madara and Izuna. However, the battle had shattered that illusion completely.

The first wave of disbelief came from the confirmation that Jinx had awakened the Sharingan—something many assumed he would never achieve. That alone was enough to surprise the intelligence networks of the major clans. But what truly left them reeling was the discovery that he possessed Ice Release, a kekkei genkai unheard of within the Uchiha Clan.

Some believed it to be a stolen bloodline, possibly obtained through forbidden means, but others argued that it had to be his own innate ability—something unique to Jinx alone. The confusion and speculation grew, but even this paled in comparison to the final and most terrifying revelation.

Jinx had transformed.

The sensory ninja who had been present during the battle reported that Jinx did not use a Transformation Jutsu like the Inuzuka. He didn't alter his appearance through chakra manipulation or illusion. No—he became the beast. A 10-meter-tall black and purple fox, exuding an aura so cold that the very land around him froze solid. The sheer presence of his transformed state had paralyzed many Ishigami warriors with fear, and his raw destructive power had leveled an entire hill to flat land, an attack on par with an S-rank jutsu.

This wasn't the act of an ordinary shinobi. This was something beyond their understanding.

Senju Clan

At the heart of the Senju compound, Butsuma Senju sat in silent contemplation as the reports came in. His sons, especially Tobirama, analyzed the information with great interest.

"A transformation ability?" Tobirama mused, his sharp red eyes scanning the documents. "Not a jutsu, but an actual transformation… And Ice Release, no less. This could mean a mutation in his chakra nature, or something far more dangerous."

Tobirama, who sat nearby, seemed troubled. "Regardless of what it is, Jinx is becoming something dangerous. If he's not controlled, he could become a threat to not just the Uchiha, but everyone."

Butsuma grunted. "We need more information. If his abilities continue to develop, the balance of power may shift in ways we can't predict."

Hasirama on the other hand sat quietly happy for his dear friends brother since madara let him know a secret only madara's mother knew and that was Jinx was his favorite brother,

Hyuga Clan

The Hyuga, masters of the Byakugan, had their own thoughts on the matter. Clan leader Hyuga Hikaru frowned as he read through the report.

"The fact that Jinx possesses Ice Release is already troublesome, but the transformation? No shinobi in history has displayed such an ability. Not without it being tied to a tailed beast," he said.

A younger Hyuga prodigy spoke up. "What if… it is something even more sinister?"

The Hyuga knew better than anyone how bloodlines and kekkei genkai could manifest in strange ways. But something about this felt unnatural.

Shimura & Sarutobi Clans

The Shimura and Sarutobi clans, long-time allies of the Senju, took this information as both a threat and an opportunity.

"If he has truly gained such a power," a Sarutobi elder muttered, "then perhaps we should consider allying with him before he becomes an enemy. Or eliminating him before he grows too strong."

The Shimura, ever ruthless in their pragmatism, agreed. "The Uchiha already have Madara and Izuna. If this Jinx continues to rise, we may see the birth of something even worse than Madara's ambition."

Other Clans

The Akimichi, Nara, and Yamanaka clans observed the news with caution. The Inuzuka, intrigued by his transformation, speculated wildly about whether he had some sort of hidden bloodline tied to the beasts of old.

Meanwhile, the Aburame remained eerily silent. They knew better than to jump to conclusions about something so strange.

(back in the uchiha clan)

The three brother was reporting what they learned from the mission

The grand hall of the Uchiha Clan was silent as Jinx, Madara, and Izuna stood before their father, Tajima Uchiha. The three brothers had returned victorious, but the weight of their battle still lingered in the air. Tajima sat on his throne-like seat, flanked by several Uchiha elders, their faces unreadable as they absorbed the full details of the mission.

Madara, ever the leader, spoke first. His voice was strong, confident, but laced with a barely concealed frustration. "The Ishigami were more formidable than expected, but their forces have been severely crippled. We eliminated nearly ten percent of their warriors, including several high-ranking commanders. However, their prodigy, Kurotsuchi, escaped."

Tajima's fingers tapped against the wooden armrest of his chair, his sharp eyes narrowing. "An incomplete victory," he muttered. "But a message was sent. The Ishigami will think twice before challenging us again."

Izuna, arms crossed, leaned slightly against a pillar, his expression thoughtful. "The battle was one thing, but the real issue is the information spreading about Jinx."

The room fell into a tense silence. The elders exchanged glances, their concern evident.

Jinx, standing at the center of it all, remained quiet. His dark purple eyes, once filled with a quiet resentment for the clan, now carried something colder—something unreadable. He knew what they were thinking. He had been ignored, ridiculed, seen as a failure. And now, they feared him.

One of the elders finally spoke. "Your transformation, Jinx… Explain it."

Jinx met the elder's gaze, his voice calm yet firm. "It is no mere transformation. It is an extension of my power. A convergence of my abilities."

Madara turned his head slightly, eyes gleaming with curiosity. "Your Ice Release. It isn't natural, is it?"

Jinx gave a small smirk. "Natural or not, it is mine. That is all that matters."

Tajima's gaze bore into him. "The world is talking about you now, Jinx. They are afraid. Some will seek to use you. Others will want you dead."

Jinx's smirk faded. "Let them try."

Izuna let out a low chuckle. "I doubt anyone would be stupid enough to come after him now. They saw what he did to the Ishigami."

But one of the elders shook his head. "Do not underestimate fear. It makes men do foolish things. If they believe Jinx is a threat greater than even Madara, they may unite against us."

A heavy silence fell over the room. The Uchiha Clan had always been feared, but never before had one of their own possessed an ability that defied the very limits of shinobi understanding.

Finally, Tajima spoke, his voice decisive. "For now, we do nothing. We will not confirm or deny the rumors. We will let the other clans speculate and drown in their paranoia." He turned his piercing gaze to Jinx. "But you—your strength is undeniable now. You have proven yourself. You are no longer a disappointment to this clan."

Jinx's fingers twitched slightly at the words. He had waited years to hear them, yet they felt… hollow.

Tajima stood, walking toward his sons. "Madara. Izuna. Jinx. You are the future of this clan. Together, you will lead us to an era where the Uchiha stand unrivaled."

Madara grinned, Izuna nodded in agreement, but Jinx merely gave a slight bow of his head.

As the meeting concluded, the three brothers left the grand hall, stepping into the cool night air. The village was quiet, yet the air buzzed with tension. The world had changed in a single battle. And Jinx knew that his path was now set.

As Jinx, Madara, and Izuna turned to leave the grand hall, Tajima's voice stopped them.

"Jinx, there is one more matter to discuss," their father said, his sharp gaze landing on his youngest son.

Jinx turned back, raising an eyebrow. "What is it?"

Tajima leaned forward slightly. "You will be receiving a squad."

At first, Jinx thought he misheard. "A squad?"

The Uchiha elder sitting beside their father, an older woman with streaks of silver in her long, dark hair, nodded. Her name was Uchiha Naori, one of the most experienced kunoichi in the clan and known for her mastery of genjutsu. She was one of the few elders who didn't openly look down on Jinx, though she remained neutral in most matters concerning him.

"You will be given command over a team of twelve Uchiha genin," Naori explained. "Your father and I have already selected them."

Jinx's expression remained unreadable, but Madara and Izuna exchanged glances. For an Uchiha, leading a squad was a mark of recognition, a sign that they were trusted to nurture and command the next generation. And for Jinx, who had always been considered an outcast, this was unprecedented.

"You expect me to play babysitter?" Jinx said, crossing his arms.

Tajima's expression hardened. "These are not just any genin. They were chosen for a reason. You will train them, mold them into true Uchiha warriors."

Jinx narrowed his eyes. "Then I have one condition. At least one of their chakra natures must align with mine—fire, water, wind, or lightning. I refuse to waste my time on students I can't properly train."

Naori smirked slightly. "A reasonable request. It will be done."

Jinx gave a curt nod. "Fine. I'll take them."

But Naori wasn't finished. "One more thing."

Jinx turned his attention back to her as she continued, "You will also be assigned an additional genin—one of the less promising ones."

Jinx's eyebrow twitched. "Less promising?"

"Her name is Uchiha Asuka. She recently turned fourteen, but despite her age, she still possesses only genin-level skills. She has not yet awakened her Sharingan, and her combat abilities are… lacking," Naori admitted.

Jinx exhaled through his nose, already sensing the reason behind this. "You want to see if I can turn a failure into something worthwhile," he muttered.

Naori's smirk widened. "Perhaps. Or maybe we simply wish to test your skills as a leader."

Jinx was silent for a long moment, then shrugged. "Whatever. If she can't keep up, she'll be left behind."

Tajima's gaze bore into him. "No. If she falls behind, you will make her stronger. That is your task, Jinx."

Jinx clicked his tongue but said nothing. He wasn't in the mood for an argument.

Naori stood. "Very well. Your squad will assemble tomorrow at dawn."

With that, the meeting was concluded.

The next morning, Jinx stood in the Uchiha training grounds, arms crossed as he waited. The air was crisp, and the faint mist rolling over the field carried a sense of new beginnings.

One by one, the genin arrived, each of them carefully selected for their chakra natures. Some had fire, others lightning or wind, while a few specialized in water. Jinx's sharp gaze swept over them, already assessing their strengths and weaknesses.

And then, the last to arrive was Uchiha Asuka.

She stood out immediately—not because of any impressive presence, but because of her unique purple hair, something rare among the Uchiha. It was tied back into a loose ponytail, a few strands falling over her dark eyes. Unlike the other genin, who held themselves with confidence, Asuka hesitated for a brief moment before walking up to join the group.

Jinx's eyes narrowed slightly. She had an air of uncertainty about her, but he could also sense something deeper—buried potential, hidden beneath self-doubt and inexperience.

He clicked his tongue. "So, you're the 'less promising' one."

Asuka tensed slightly but nodded. "Yes, sensei."

Jinx stared at her for a moment longer before addressing the entire squad.

"You all have potential," he began, his voice calm but firm. "But potential means nothing if you don't sharpen it. From today onward, you will train under me. You will learn my way, or you will be left behind. Understood?"

A chorus of "Yes, sensei!" rang out—some voices eager, others more hesitant.

Jinx smirked slightly.

This will be interesting.

(timeskip)

Jinx exhaled slowly, his sharp gaze sweeping over the newly assigned squad. The past three hours had been filled with rigorous tests—taijutsu spars, chakra control exercises, elemental jutsu demonstrations, and strategic assessments. By the end, he had a solid understanding of their capabilities, their strengths, and most importantly, their weaknesses.

He looked down at his notes, mentally categorizing each member:

Squad Overview

Fire + Lightning Users: 4 → Strong offense, speed, and cutting power.

Fire + Wind Users: 3 → Agile, high-speed combatants with strong mobility.

Fire + Water Users: 2 → Versatile fighters, good for genjutsu and support roles.

Fire + Earth Users: 2 → Defensive and endurance-based fighters.

Fire Only: 1 → Potential for specialization.

Multi-Nature (Asuka): 1 → Theoretically powerful, but underdeveloped.

Jinx crossed his arms, his gaze narrowing slightly as he processed what he had seen.

Most of the squad showed great potential—even if some had flaws that needed correction. Ryouma's confidence made him an excellent kenjutsu user, but it also made him reckless at times. Takeo was strong but lacked speed. Souta was fast but had weak endurance. Mei had sharp instincts but needed to work on her chakra reserves.

Then there was Asuka.

Jinx turned his attention toward the purple-haired girl standing at the far end of the line. She looked small, shrinking into herself as if she wanted to disappear.

His eyes hardened as he observed her. She possessed four chakra natures—an extraordinary feat, even among seasoned shinobi. And yet, when he tested her, she barely had the power of a typical genin. The only jutsu she knew was the Great Fireball Technique—one of the most basic Uchiha techniques. Her movements were hesitant, her strikes weak, and her confidence practically nonexistent.

His patience, already thin from the day's events, finally snapped.

"Hmmm, all of you are good, but what is with Asuka?" Jinx muttered, loud enough for everyone to hear. "She has four elements, yet she can't even break past genin level? At your age, you should have at least been a bottom-of-the-barrel chunin. And from what I've seen, the only jutsu you can use is the Fireball Jutsu?"

His piercing dark purple eyes locked onto her, and the entire squad turned their attention toward Asuka. Some looked curious. Others, indifferent. A few—like Renji—scoffed, as if confirming their assumptions about her weakness.

Asuka visibly flinched, her body trembling slightly as she avoided eye contact. She clenched her fists tightly at her sides before answering in a hesitant, quiet voice.

"W-well, sensei… I am the granddaughter of Elder Rei, b-but once they found out my body was weaker than normal, I was d-disowned… and sent to live with the orphans. I wasn't given much attention because of my weaker potential… a-and because I was a girl. Everyone thought I wasn't going to become a ninja, b-but I managed to reach genin a year ago."

Her voice wavered, her insecurity bleeding into her words.

Jinx closed his eyes and exhaled sharply, rubbing his forehead with two fingers.

Of course.

He knew better than anyone how quick to judge the Uchiha Clan was. He, more than anyone, understood what it meant to be cast aside, labeled a failure, and treated like an outcast. The same way he had been dismissed for years—the so-called failure son of Tajima Uchiha—was the same way Asuka had been discarded, judged not for what she could become, but for what others assumed she was incapable of becoming.

Opening his eyes, he stepped forward, stopping just inches away from Asuka. She stiffened, clearly expecting some sort of reprimand. Instead, Jinx simply studied her carefully before speaking.

"Tell me, Asuka…" His voice was softer this time, but still firm. "Do you want to become stronger?"

Her head shot up in surprise, wide eyes locking onto his.

"I… I do!" she said quickly, her voice finally showing a bit of fire. "I just— I don't know how."

Jinx nodded. "Then I'll show you how."

He turned to face the rest of the squad. "Let's get one thing straight—I don't care who you were before this moment. I don't care what the elders think of you. I don't care if you were called a failure or a genius. None of that matters to me."

He let his words sink in, his cold gaze sweeping across them.

"The only thing that matters is whether you have the determination to grow. If you do, then I will train you, break you down, and rebuild you into shinobi worthy of the Uchiha name. If you don't…" His eyes darkened. "Then you're better off quitting now."

The air grew heavy with tension, but none of them backed down.

Jinx smirked. "Good. Training begins tomorrow at dawn."

And just like that, Jinx's squad was officially born.

(timeskip)

I stepped into the Uchiha Clan's archive, the heavy door creaking shut behind me. The place was sacred to our history and guarded fiercely. Two Uchiha sentries nodded at me from their posts, and I waved back. They understood why this building was so crucial: it housed not only our techniques—both those we invented and those we appropriated—but also the very legacy of our clan. Its walls held our victories, our defeats, our secrets. It was, in every sense, the heart of the Uchiha.

I made my way through the dim corridors until I reached the medical section. I was here for something specific. The scrolls lining the shelves seemed to watch me as I carefully reached for the Mystical Palm Technique, a crucial skill for any medic-nin. It was a technique I wanted all my students to master. It could make the difference between life and death on the battlefield, something I had seen firsthand. The weight of its importance sat heavily on my shoulders, knowing the war looming over us with the Ishigami clan would demand every skill at our disposal.

But then again, I thought to myself, the training time I have with my students is so limited. We're on the brink of war—at least, it feels like we are. Can I afford to focus too much on medical techniques when we have such a short window to prepare?

That thought lingered as I turned my attention to the clan's store, hoping there might be something that could tip the scales in our favor. I opened my mental shop interface, scrolling through the available skills and jutsu for purchase. Each item seemed to call out to me, potential and power within reach.

Skills:

Shadow Dragon Slayer Magic (300,000 SP): This magic transforms the user into a shadow dragon, making them intangible and able to travel swiftly through shadows. While powerful, it has its risks—being caught in a solid form or by another shadow form makes the user vulnerable.

Blood Demon Art: Crescent Moon Blades (10,000 SP): This blood manipulation technique, inspired by Kokushibo's Moon Breathing, allows the user to create crescent-shaped blades from their flesh. These blades are razor-sharp and are able to cut through almost anything.

Blood Demon Art: Destructive Death (7,000 SP): A martial art-based technique that merges destructive shockwaves with the user's own Soryu-style martial arts, creating devastating attacks that can break through defenses and incapacitate opponents.

Blood Demon Art: Combustible Blood (9,000 SP): Nezuko's blood art allows the user to ignite their own blood, turning it into pink flames that explode on contact.

Swamp Domain (80,000 SP): The Swamp Demon creates a pocket dimension of swamp-like terrain. This dimension can be used for infiltration, surprise attacks, or kidnapping, all without detection.

Water Release: Five Feeding Sharks (28,000 SP): A water-based technique that creates five shark-shaped waves to attack enemies with precision and force.

Chimera Technique (600,000 SP): A forbidden jutsu that combines different organisms to create a hybrid, merging their abilities into a singular being. Dangerous and highly experimental.

Living Corpse Reincarnation (550,000 SP): This dark jutsu allows the user to transfer their soul into a new body, effectively granting them immortality as long as they can keep the host alive.

Flying Thunder God Technique (550,000 SP): A space-time ninjutsu that allows the user to teleport instantly to a marked location. Mastery of this technique requires advanced precision and control.

Items:

Shadow Dragon Slayer Magic Manual (350,000 SP): This manual teaches the user how to transform into a Shadow Dragon, granting them the power of shadow manipulation and near invincibility while in shadow form.

Manual Fire Dragon Slayer Magic (250,000 SP): A manual that grants the user the powers of a Fire Dragon, including flame manipulation and the protection of flame-resistant scales.

Manual Lightning Dragon Slayer Magic (300,000 SP): This manual allows the user to channel and manipulate lightning, providing an advantage in both offense and defense.

Jiki Jiki no Mi (Magnet Manipulation) (800,000 SP): A powerful Devil Fruit that allows the user to manipulate magnetic fields, perfect for neutralizing metallic weapons and enhancing offense with metal-based attacks.

I paused, scanning the list once more. The war with the Ishigami clan was only a matter of time. There was so much to prepare for, so many skills to master, and so little time. The future of the clan depended on the choices I made now
