Chapter 139: Chapter 137: Hamura Industries
Yuki enquired, "What will you do with the money?"
Dan replied, "I traded it for ownership of a company rather than receiving cash."
Dan explained Ryu's plan to build a company and raise money for research and development. Although he did not delve into the specifics of his plan, it was still sufficient to grasp the concept.
Dr. Yuki looked at Ryu and said, "I thought I stole an opportunity from you when I claimed ownership of that drug and released it in my name, but I think it wasn't a big deal for you, and you will once again find yourself ways to earn money big time. In your pursuit of technology, do not forget about medicine; don't miss out on your studies in medicine."
Ryu smiled and said, "Yes, you are right. Don't worry; I will manage everything."
"So have you decided on your electives?" Yuki asked.
Ryu replied, "Yes, I have. I want immunology and oncology as my electives."
Yuki was surprised; she thought, "There was a big list of electives, but Ryu chose the hardest one, immunology and oncology, as his electives, along with all the basic subjects common to all medical apprentices. There aren't many who chose these two at once. Both are difficult fields, but not for him, I guess.""
He had a sudden flashback of his oncology days. He remembered finding a method to boost the immune system and program it to attack cancerous cells. He trained WBCs outside the body in a lab environment and reintroduced them directly into and around the cancerous growth. The same way, he also repurposed some mildly harmful bacteria to kill cancerous cells. He reduced cancer patients by 70 percent by this method alone, back in his old life.
He thought, 'With the necessary equipment and time, I can replicate that success in this life as well.'
Firstly, he needs to enrol as a medical apprentice. To conduct medical experiments in a formal laboratory, he must possess the necessary credentials. It wasn't difficult for him; achieving it was only a matter of time. He will do it side by side with his Ninja Academy curriculum. However, conducting physics and engineering experiments without any academic credentials was fair game for him. And Ryu had planned so many of those.
Ryu thought, "The midterm assessments at the academy were approaching. The medical apprenticeship is a two-year course, so I must wait before making innovations in the medical field. However, I can explore other fields during this time."
Now that his grandfather is about to become the owner of a company, he can start his plans for innovation.
Yuki said, 'Ok, I will have Isao bring you everything you need for the current semester, and he will also inform you about practical classes. Ryu, I know you can handle multiple things at once thanks to your superior memory, but even then, you cannot ride two boats at once. So take your time. You are still a child. Make friends, play, and enjoy your childhood.
Ryu smiled and said, "Why do you think I am not enjoying myself?"
He continued, "I really enjoy training, learning new things, and building new things. I am also enjoying myself at the academy because I have made friends at the academy. Even with Kaito."
Yuki smiled hearing that Ryu has adjusted to the academy life well.
"And lastly," Ryu said, "who says one cannot ride two boats at the same time?"
"Don't we have shadow clones for that?" he said.
Dr. Yuki's eyes twitched, hearing Ryu to counter her like this. The earlier compassion she was feeling turned into a love-filled annoyance.
Ryu gave her his admission form for distance learning and thanked her for collecting it herself.
Dr. Yuki only said, "It's fine, kid. It's no big deal. I got to see you thanks to it."
A few days passed, and Hiruzen came with his secretary to finalise the deal. All the money had been paid directly by the council, and transfer papers were readied by his secretary.
Hiruzen said, "With this, you are now the owner of Kodama Electronics."
"What are you doing next, Dan?" Hiruzen asked.
Dan thought for a second and replied, "Kodama Electronics sounds distant to me. I would change the name first."
He looked at Ryu in the background and asked, "What do you think?" Any suggestions?"
Ryu said, "When naming things, simple is always best. How about Hamura Industries?"
Dan thought, "It sounds like..." He waited and thought for the right word.
Ryu completed his sentence and said, "Like a legacy."
Hiruzen said, rubbing his beard, "Hamura Industries sounds just about right."
Dan smiled and nodded in agreement. "Hamura Industries it is then," he declared, feeling a sense of pride and excitement for the future of his newly acquired company. With a new name in place, Dan began to envision the legacy he would build with Hamura Industries.
Hiruzen looked at his assistant and said, "My secretary will assist with the name change. You can now go and address your new employees in the main office in Fire Capital or in the branch office in the Leaf Village."
"Thanks, Hiruzen, for your help." Dan said.
"Those should be my words. I got the best deal out of this for myself and the village." Hiruzen said.
Dan nodded and jokingly said, "Right, I should have raised my prices."
Hiruzen smiled, "I will be leaving now; my secretary will take you to your company."
With that, Hiruzen took his leave.
The secretary enquired, "Should we also depart to address the company?"
Dan looked at Ryu.
Ryu replied, "Looking like that. We need a corporate makeover before that. Can you tell the person in charge of the branch office to call a meeting in the branch office? Invite all the top management and all the research departments. Once they are ready, they can send someone to fetch us from our home."
The secretary nodded and left to deliver the instructions to the person in charge of the soon-to-be Hamura Industries.
"Corporate makeover?" Dan asked.
"Yeah, let's go shopping." Ryu said with a smile.
With that, they left for shopping to buy some new clothes. Dan didn't get himself anything, but Ryu specifically went to the best tailor in the market and ordered a custom-tailored outfit fit for the occasion. He also bought a few things that he needed for a good demonstration at his first meeting.
"So you want to address the employees yourself? It's fine as the money came from you. But are you sure? They may not take you seriously." Dan said.
Ryu replied, "Yes. You are right. Even with the corporate look, they may not take a kid seriously. But don't worry; when I'm done speaking, they all will take me seriously."
Dan smiled and asked, "Just tell me what you want from me."
Ryu said, Since you are the owner of the company, I want your first order to create a new post in the company."
Dan asked, "I assume you will take over that post."
"Ryu just smiled and said, Yes."
Elsewhere, a letter was delivered in Fire Capital through a messenger bird. The handler received the miniature scroll and passed it to his colleague for delivery, containing crucial information. Subsequently, the messenger company ensured its delivery to Kodama Electronics' main office in Fire Capital, signalling the importance of the message for the company's operations.
A man can be seen reading the scroll. He sighed as he addressed the people in front of him, "The rumours were right. That noble bastard had sold the company to a retired ninja in the leaf village."
One employee said, "Why would a ninja be interested in our company?" Our main focus is on research and manufacturing of core electronics."
"I don't know. But I do know that the change in ownership brings change in management. We should be prepared for any mass firing as well." other employee said.
"It can't be as bad as the times of the previous owner. We were short on funds anyway and close to bankruptcy. Maybe this new owner will change things for the better," another employee said.
"You may be right; only time will tell. But I still can get used to the fact that we will be working under a ninja now. They are not easy people to convince, so there will be a huge communication barrier from now on," said another employee.
"What does the letter exactly say?" someone asked.
"It invites all the people in top management and research to be present in a meeting at the branch office in the Leaf village two days from now." said Masato Nakai, the lead researcher of the company
Two days later.
"Are all the preparations done?" asked Masato Nakai.
"Yes, I have prepared a welcome bouquet. Have you sent someone to fetch them?" said the employee
"Yes, they will be reaching any time now," said Masato Nakai.
Just then the door opened, and as Dan entered, Ryu followed closely, clad in a meticulously tailored all-black suit and sporting glasses to conceal his striking heterochromatic eyes, creating a striking visual contrast to Dan's demeanour.
Ryu looked sharp in that black suit, giving off a Men in Black vibe with his appearance.
