Chapter 72: 《Naruto: The Ōtsutsuki Bloodline》Chapter 72: Uchiha Forbidden Technique: Six Paths Technique
In another part of the forest within the Land of Hot Water.
Amidst a distortion in space, Obito Uchiha, Kakuzu, and Hidan emerged simultaneously, landing on a flat expanse of ground.
"You two didn't die, did you?"
Obito's voice was cold, and it was evident that he wasn't in the best mood.
It wasn't hard to understand why. Watching Kakashi activate the Mangekyō Sharingan and use its powers to counter him was unsettling, to say the least.
And then there was Kakuzu, the man who claimed to have once attempted to assassinate the First Hokage, being utterly humiliated by Kitagawa Minamoto, the same brat who had blindsided Obito in the past.
As for Hidan, whom the Akatsuki had planned to recruit, he had been thoroughly beaten by Guy—yes, the same Guy who had once landed a kick on Obito's face during their academy days.
All this frustration piled up, and the fact that Obito could still speak coherently was a testament to his self-restraint.
"I'm not dead, but this time I've suffered a major loss."
Kakuzu wobbled to his feet, his body battered and torn, though his Earth Grudge Fear technique allowed him to recover.
The problem was that he had lost four hearts this time!
One was shattered by that idiot Hidan, and another three were destroyed in his fight against that little brat.
This wasn't just a matter of feeling like his heart was bleeding—it was enough to drive him insane!
"Also, didn't you say that brat's greatest skill was the Flying Thunder God Technique?"
Turning his head, Kakuzu glared weakly at Obito, his voice low and icy.
"Then why does he also know Lightning Release: Chakra Mode? And how is it so powerful?!"
"Lightning Release: Chakra Mode?"
Obito frowned. Wasn't that technique exclusive to Kumogakure? How did that brat learn it?
But then he remembered Minamoto's Purple Lightning and couldn't help but shake his head.
Perhaps the kid had developed it himself. After all, Obito knew firsthand how deadly that Purple Lightning could be.
"We didn't have intel on that, so there was nothing I could do to help you. But why did you..."
"Hmph, it's precisely because we lacked intel that I focused my defenses on the Flying Thunder God Technique."
Kakuzu shook his head coldly.
"And yet, that brat used Lightning Release: Chakra Mode to break through my defenses. The speed and strength, combined with his Purple Lightning—I had no way to counter it in time.
But next time..."
This time, Kakuzu felt incredibly unlucky. He had concentrated on guarding against the Flying Thunder God Technique, and while it had proven effective, he had been caught off guard by Minamoto's "Lightning Release: Chakra Mode."
The suddenness of the attack left him stunned, and it was during this moment of vulnerability that he lost one of his hearts to the Flying Thunder God Technique.
Kakuzu wasn't arrogant—had he known about this ability, he might have adopted a different strategy. Over-preparing for the Flying Thunder God Technique had ironically led to his downfall.
"Damn brat!"
Thinking about it, Kakuzu could only curse in his heart, unsure whether he was angrier about losing his hearts or about how tricky Minamoto was to deal with.
"I didn't die either," Hidan muttered as he sat up, his face full of irritation.
"That damn kappa! His taijutsu is incredible, and his speed and strength are ridiculous.
But he's like some kind of lunatic, constantly shouting about youth and breaking my bones over and over again.
And he has this weird obsession with kicking me in the face! What's wrong with that guy?!"
"..."
Obito didn't respond, but an unpleasant memory surfaced in his mind.
During his academy days, he had once tried to show off by performing a Fire Release technique while sucking on a piece of candy. The candy got stuck in his throat, and before he could react, Guy had kicked him square in the face.
The candy flew out, but Obito failed the test, earning the title of the academy's worst student, while Guy, the second-worst, passed.
"That guy only knows taijutsu, but he also has a secret technique called the Eight Inner Gates."
Shaking his head, Obito suppressed the negative emotions and explained.
"Fighting him in taijutsu is a losing battle. Even though he was once one of Konoha's worst students, constantly coming in second-to-last, you can't underestimate his abilities."
"Tch, so he's just a taijutsu specialist with some secret technique. No wonder his speed and strength increased so much."
Hidan rubbed his chin, grumbling in annoyance before looking at Obito with curiosity.
"You seem to know a lot about him. Even his second-to-last ranking? But if he was second-to-last, who was the worst? Were they really strong?"
"..."
Obito was stunned. Did this guy have a screw loose? Why was he focusing on such irrelevant details?
"Let's head back."
In the end, Obito chose to ignore the comment, his voice growing colder.
"We've suffered significant losses this time. You both need to report the situation, but remember one thing..."
As he spoke, Obito's exposed Sharingan swept coldly over the two of them.
"There are things you should say and things you shouldn't. I trust you know the difference. What you choose to do is up to you, but I hope you make the right decision.
After all, there's only one correct path. Stray from it, and there will be no salvation!"
As Obito finished speaking, a heavy silence fell over the group.
Kakuzu felt a surge of irritation. He had no interest in getting involved in this nonsense.
This Obito Uchiha kept acting so high and mighty—who did he think he was?!
Coldly lifting his head, Kakuzu stared at Obito, who frowned but didn't have time to speak before Kakuzu cut him off.
"Fine, but you'll have to pay me more!"
"..."
Obito's breathing hitched. Pay... more?
He recalled their first meeting, where Kakuzu had looked ready to kill him for his bounty. Now, Obito was utterly speechless.
"Huh?"
Hidan glanced between the two of them, muttering under his breath.
"What are these two lunatics even talking about?"
"Yosh! We're finally back!"
Several days later, at the gates of Konohagakure.
Guy was supporting a weary Kakashi, enthusiastically pumping his fist into the air.
"Slow down..."
Kakashi muttered, his dead-fish eyes half-closed. Meanwhile, Minamoto followed behind, carrying a large bag and looking at the familiar sight of Konoha with a mix of emotions.
"This time, we didn't even get to enjoy the hot springs before heading back. What a shame."
"Hey, hey, hey! Can't you two take this seriously?"
Kakashi couldn't hold back anymore. How could these two be so carefree?
He was starting to suspect that Minamoto had trained under Guy as a child, which might explain his current behavior.
"But he's not exactly like Guy either..."
Kakashi rubbed his temples before speaking.
"Minamoto, go get some rest. Guy, take me to the Hokage. We need to deliver our intel."
"No problem! I'll take you there right away!"
Guy immediately gave a thumbs-up to Minamoto before letting out a loud roar.
"I'm speeding up, Kakashi! Feel the power of youth!"
"Wait, what?!"
Before Kakashi could react, Guy hoisted him onto his shoulder and sprinted toward the Hokage's office.
"..."
Minamoto watched as Kakashi rolled his eyes in exasperation. He could only hope Kakashi would survive the trip.
"Whatever. It's not the first time. He'll probably be fine. I'll take this chance to study the new rewards I've received."
After a few days, Minamoto's body had fully recovered, and his rewards had finally arrived.
Now it was time to rest, research his gains, and find an opportunity to meet with Jiraiya.
"This time, the reward is quite interesting."
As he walked, Minamoto opened his Status Panel.
