Naruto The Red Spiral Rebirth

Chapter 35: Chapter 35 – Sad Confession

"What a tough guy…"

Tom exhaled slowly as he stood amidst the remnants of the battlefield. But he didn't have time to linger—there was something even more important happening now: he needed to get to the Naruto Bridge.

The real battle should be coming to an end soon.

He gave the battleground a quick cleanup and immediately dashed toward the unfinished bridge, urgency burning in every step.

He had to save Haku.

In the original timeline, Hinata was always considered Naruto's destined partner—but if there was anyone who came close to her in purity and kindness, it was Haku. (The author is firmly in the "Haku is a cute girl" faction, by the way.)

Both Hinata and Haku were gentle, soft-spoken, and carried the charm of traditional femininity. But where Hinata had support and protection, Haku had endured a dark, painful childhood. Her trauma left scars—emotional shadows that never faded.

To fill the emptiness in her heart, Haku chose to become a weapon—something useful, something needed—so she could feel like she belonged. In a world where women were often overlooked, Haku redefined herself, convincing her own mind to believe she was a boy. It was her way of feeling important.

Tom had once discussed this with Naruto. After stealing Hinata's affections for himself, Tom always felt a bit guilty for Naruto. He and Tom had even talked about finding the perfect girl for him—and in those conversations, Haku had always come out on top.

Tom believed that no one could heal the shadows in Haku's heart better than Naruto—the warmest, brightest "sun" in the ninja world.

"Naruto, I've broken my heart trying to help you find happiness," Tom muttered, the corner of his mouth twitching into a faint smirk.

By now, the still-unnamed Naruto Bridge was nearly completed, but it was facing its final test before full construction could be declared a success.

Above the bridge, wild chakra clashed and echoed. Kakashi could feel it clearly, his expression freezing.

"This chakra… no way. Did Naruto's seal start to loosen? And where the hell is Tom?"

Back on the bridge, Naruto stood trembling.

"I won't let you get away... I have to kill you."

The hatred in his voice was mixed with confusion and pain. His emotions had become so overwhelming that, for the first time, the seal holding back the Nine-Tails began to crack.

A trace of the Nine-Tails' chakra leaked out. On a normal ninja, that would've been catastrophic—the corrosive nature of that chakra would eat away at a person like wildfire. Just like Sora from the Fire Temple, who had a large amount of Nine-Tails' chakra sealed inside him, it could lead to mental and physical destruction.

But Naruto, in full protagonist mode, was different.

Instead of weakening him, the Nine-Tails' chakra enhanced him—his speed, strength, and healing abilities surged, transforming him into something beyond ordinary.

This was one of the reasons Naruto had gone from being the dead-last of his class to fighting on par with the strongest during the Fourth Ninja War. Every release of the Nine-Tails' chakra made his base strength more powerful.

"What kind of chakra is this? This isn't possible... it's become visible!"

Haku stood inside her Demonic Ice Mirror technique, gazing in shock at the chakra leaking from Naruto's body. Chakra was normally invisible unless incredibly dense—but these ominous, visible waves were more than chakra. They were like solidified hatred.

Only Kage-level shinobi or legendary beasts ever reached this level.

"And this chakra… it feels repulsive. Like it carries disaster with it."

As this thought crossed Haku's mind, she saw the senbon needles she'd used earlier being pushed out of Naruto's body by his regenerating muscles. His wounds healed rapidly. His fingernails sharpened into claws. His blue eyes morphed into a deep red, filled with bloodlust.

"Who is this boy…?"

Naruto roared, then vanished from view. In a flash, he caught up to Haku inside the mirror dome.

Haku gritted her teeth, trying to maintain the jutsu, but the ferocious energy pressing down on her was suffocating. "No... I can't stop this killing intent."

With a thunderous "boom," Naruto landed a devastating punch on Haku. The force shattered one of the ice mirrors, launching Haku ten meters backward across the bridge.

Her mask broke and fell to the ground, revealing her delicate face.

Lying on the ground, injured and exhausted, she muttered, "Zabuza-sama… I'm no match for this boy."

Naruto approached, his final punch already cocked back, filled with rage, chakra, and confusion. But the moment he saw Haku's face, he froze.

"You're… that sister from before."

Naruto's eyes widened. The gentle, kind woman who had tended to him—the one who offered him compassion—was the same person who now stood as his enemy?

Haku, lying there broken, stared up at him. Her voice was steady, empty. "Why did you stop? I killed your most important friend. Why didn't you kill me?"

Naruto looked back at Sasuke's unconscious body behind him, pain and confusion surging inside. His fist trembled, lowering ever so slightly.

"Where's your anger? That punch... it can't kill me like that."

Haku's voice remained soft but unrelenting, trying to provoke him. "People often make the mistake of sparing enemies out of pity… but that's not kindness. That's weakness. You think you're showing me mercy?"

She gave a bitter smile. "You don't understand what it's like to have no dream, no purpose, to be completely unwanted."

Naruto stood there, struggling to respond.

"What are you trying to say?" he asked, his voice shaking.

"What Zabuza-sama needs is a useful ninja. I failed him. I'm useless now. I have no reason to live."

Those words struck Naruto harder than any physical blow.

"Why would you fight for someone like him? He's just a mercenary—he works for bad people, takes money from scum!"

Naruto's voice cracked with emotion. "You're so kind, so gentle… how can someone like you serve someone like him?"

Haku closed her eyes for a moment, recalling the distant past. "A long time ago... I had someone important to me."

Her voice trembled as old memories returned. "That person gave me purpose. They made me feel needed."

"What's the most painful thing in the world?" she whispered.

Naruto blinked. "What?"

"It's knowing… that no one needs you."

Her words hit Naruto like a blade to the heart.

He understood. More than anyone, he understood what it meant to be unwanted.

Those same eyes, empty and hopeless, were the ones he used to see in the mirror.

His breath caught. His heart ached.

He remembered what Haku had once said—to become the strongest ninja, to be recognized, to matter. To be needed.

And in that moment, Iruka's face came to his mind—the man who treated him like a son, who gave him a reason to live.

"I used to believe I was a monster," Haku continued. "But Zabuza… he didn't care about that. He accepted me. He made me feel useful."

Her voice cracked. "He said my bloodline wasn't disgusting… that it was exactly what he needed. For the first time, I felt happiness."

Tears welled in her eyes.

"So please, Naruto… just kill me. I've lost my value. I'm useless now."
