Chapter 74: Chapter 76: White Zetsu Can Do This Too?
In the outside world, only a few seconds had passed.
In Konan's eyes, Hanzō's soul had already been largely extracted, nearing the point of becoming an empty shell.
Victory seemed firmly within Pain's grasp.
However, at that moment, Tendo Pain, Shurado, and Ningendo suddenly froze.
The soul extraction process performed by Ningendo came to a halt, and as if possessing a will of its own, the hand that was pressing against Hanzō's head twitched violently.
Bang! Bang bang!
Before Konan could react, the three figures collapsed to the ground like birds with broken wings.
"Pain!"
The usually silent Konan's pupils shrank in shock.
Without hesitation, she unfurled the paper wings on her back, releasing countless sheets of paper to cover the bodies of Tendo Pain, Shurado, and Ningendo.
Seizing the chance while Hanzō's spiritual essence was still hazy upon returning to the body, she fled Amegakure with the three figures in tow, not looking back.
At this moment, Konan knew better than anyone that Pain's sudden change was undoubtedly due to something happening to Nagato! Was it Zetsu? Or Madara? Indeed, those two, harboring ill intentions, couldn't be trusted at all!
Any thoughts of Hanzō or Amegakure were cast aside as Konan's only intention was to reach Nagato's side immediately.
"Damn it!"
Hanzō, yanked back from the precipice of soul extraction, gasped for air, remnants of intense fear and stunned disbelief lingering in his eyes.
He staggered to his feet, raising a hand to press against his head, shaking it as he glared into the distance, anger brewing within him. "You think you can escape?!"
But just as he was about to pursue, a voice reached his ears.
"Don't be hasty."
Following the voice upwards, Hanzō spotted Hyūga Kumo standing atop the salamander's head.
The latter gazed at Konan, who was spreading her wings in retreat, before turning his gaze back down to Hanzō. "Let me tell you what they've been through."
"Then, it will be your turn to make a choice."

Meanwhile, over ten kilometers from Amegakure, in a cave sealed by rocks.
If anyone were to touch the rocks, they'd find the texture oddly strange.
It was Konan's Paper Dance of the Gods.
With the ability to transform paper into any object, even the Sharingan would be unable to discern it.
At this moment, deep within the dark, damp cave, Nagato's frail form was reduced to little more than a skeleton, standing within a rudimentary wooden apparatus, countless black rods piercing deeply into his back.
On the other side, the White Zetsu—Tobi—sat cross-legged on the ground, spiral patterns marking its frail body.
"Ugh, really, Lord Madara just loves to boss people around. What danger could Nagato possibly be in?"
Restless, it fidgeted like an ADHD patient, muttering to itself, "By the way, is White Zetsu a plant or a human? If it's a plant, why can't it decompose poop? If it's a human, why doesn't it have to take a dump? Hmm…"
Just as Tobi's thoughts spiraled into nonsensical questions about excrement…
Vroom!!
Nagato, standing in the cold apparatus, opened his eyes wide, the deep depths of his Rinnegan suddenly alert.
An unprecedented, severe mental shock surged through the chakra receivers linked to Ningendo.
Like a flood breaching a dam, it rushed into his soul without warning!
"Ughh!!"
A horrific scream reverberated throughout the cave, startling even Tobi, who instinctively leaped to his feet, glancing toward Nagato.
That gaunt face twisted in sheer agony, his withered body quaking uncontrollably, his head thrown back as if his eyes might pop from their sockets.
Pain! Excruciating pain that tore at his very soul!
The sudden onslaught of torment was beyond imagination! Nagato felt his mind being stirred and twisted as if scorched iron rods were being poured into it! Even the bindings were torn asunder, blood gushing forth from the ruptured wounds.
"What!? What's happening?!"
Seeing this, Tobi's faceless visage betrayed no emotion, but his chaotic movements around Nagato clearly revealed his panic.
"Damn it! Wasn't I supposed to be on guard against enemies? Where are they??"
Witnessing Nagato's pallid complexion grow even more ghastly, he seethed with frustration, exclaiming, "If something happens to Nagato, Lord Madara will feed me to stray dogs and turn me into poop!"
With that thought, there was no care for anything else; he leaped onto Nagato's apparatus, unfurling his spiral form like a blooming ephemeron, encasing the bleeding Nagato within.
It was then that Konan's figure materialized in the cave, immediately catching the scent of blood and spotting Nagato enveloped by Tobi.
"Damn it! What are you doing?!"
As Konan swiftly confirmed her suspicions, she worried that attacking might inadvertently harm Nagato, so she shouted furiously and charged forward.
But just as she attempted to pry Tobi off Nagato, her outstretched hand was unexpectedly seized by a firm grip on her wrist, and she heard Nagato's voice, strained but controlled.
"Calm down, Konan, this White Zetsu is helping me!"
"What?"
At his words, Konan paused, suppressing her anger and confusion, carefully inspecting the scene. She finally realized that Nagato's labored breaths and trembling body were indeed gradually stabilizing.
In that moment, Nagato felt a powerful vitality infusing him, quelling his injuries and significantly diminishing the pain within his soul.
Not only that, but his body felt like a long-sought rain after a drought, as a long-lost vigor permeated his frail form, causing even his Rinnegan to become much calmer.
"White Zetsu can do this too?"
Instead of feeling any joy, a profound chill crept over Nagato.
Sensing his shift in emotions, Tobi expanded again, revealing his gaunt frame once more.
"Ah ha ha, it's finally over!"
Tobi flourished back into the open, scratching his head with an innocent expression. "Lord Nagato, as long as you're fine, that's great! Otherwise, Lord Madara would feed me to stray dogs and turn me into poop!"
Nagato said nothing and offered no objection; he merely cast a cold gaze at Tobi.
For he couldn't yet gauge whether this White Zetsu could turn against him, and the battle against Hanzō and Amegakure had not yet concluded.
Puta... puta...
Calm, unapologetic footsteps echoed in his ears, and a dazed Konan's pupils suddenly constricted as she positioned herself protectively in front of Nagato, her guard raised as she scrutinized the dark entrance of the cave.
Hanzō and Hyūga Kumo emerged from the shadows, their gazes instantly locking onto the gaunt figure standing within the peculiar apparatus at the heart of the cave.
