Chapter 42: Divine Skill Training

"Sasuke, I don't eat for free. Here, this is a Green Spinach Pill. Consider it payment for the meal. I don't need to tell you how to use it; I'm sure you know."

Akimichi Torifune took out a case, picked one of three differently colored pills from within it, and tossed it to Sasuke. "Come on then, don't forget our appointment tonight." He leaped away and disappeared into the woods, his booming voice still echoing through the trees.

A Green Spinach Pill! Sasuke was overjoyed. This was the good stuff. Only the most elite jōnin in Konoha were given these, and even then, only in small quantities. They were a high-grade military ration pill that couldn't be bought with money.

Currently, Konoha's ration pills were divided into four categories. The lowest quality went to the cannon fodder. Standard-issue pills were for clan ninja and the chūnin backbone. High-end, double-effect pills were for the jōnin. But the Green Spinach Pills were a special ration, only distributed in small numbers for S-rank missions.

They were called ration pills, but in reality, they were a secret medicine for a massive chakra explosion. Once taken, they could increase the user's strength by at least three times in a short period, a powerful trump card for any shinobi. "Great! I didn't expect such a pleasant surprise."

He had just used the Akimichi digestion technique to digest a large amount of food, generating a huge amount of energy. He couldn't store it as effectively as Torifune yet, but if he used it to replenish and restore his chakra and physical strength, it was perfect. While it couldn't fundamentally compensate for his severe lack of chakra, if used for cultivation, the effect would be more than ten, even a hundred times greater.
