Naruto: The Senju Patriarch

Onoki was frustrated. Not only did these Konoha shinobi continuously hide in the trees, separated from each other, but they had also spotted him before he spotted them? Releasing a smoke bomb, no less? The nerve!

Reinforcements are coming, the Tsuchikage thought. But so what? That's good for me - the more numbers there are, the more worthwhile using Atomic Dismantling becomes. 

Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he saw something - a white flash. Lightning. Onoki's eyes widened, preparing for battle. He barely had time to think before dodging an impossibly massive fireball barreling towards him, and registered the man before him.

Lightning. White hair. Green eyes.

It's him.

Senju Katsuro - the Stormbreaker!

Onoki tried to fire an Atomic Dismantling at Katsuro, hoping to eliminate the threat that had managed to capture Roshi by himself, but between the long charge time and Katsuro's incredible speed, it was pointless.

"Wind Style: Great Breakthrough!"

The invisible blades of wind were fuelled beyond their normal power by the overwhelming chakra of the user, and just as planned, Onoki had to dodge to avoid the blades, meaning his Jutsu had to be stopped.

Good. Now, I just have to keep doing it as many times as it takes - he either retreats, or dies.

Onoki, seeing through Konoha's plan, scoffed. 

Does this child truly believe he can stop me? 

Onoki flew away from Katsuro, and prepared his Jutsu again, this time aiming for the larger group of Konoha shinobi that were his original target. To his surprise however, the Senju boy jumped up incredibly high with the power of his Thunderclap Impulse, and weaved handsigns that he recognised in an instant. Angry, the Tsuchikage was forced to redirect his Jutsu towards Katsuro, who released another gargantuan fireball, and the two Jutsu clashed in midair, cancelling each other out. 

Onoki's worry was increasing by the second. The Fireball Jutsu was typically a C Rank Jutsu, but somehow, this child had turned it into an A Rank equivalent - not once, but twice now.

Just how much chakra does this child have?

Realising the futility of trying to use any Particle Style Jutsus with the meddlesome Senju boy around, Onoki switched tactics - after all, he was still a Kage, and Particle Style wasn't his only strength.

"Earth Style: Rock Golem!"

A massive rock figure emerged from the ground before Onoki, and immediately targeted Katsuro. Satisfied that the golem would distract the Senju for a sufficient time, Onoki turned his back, and began preparing yet another Atomic Dismantling, with the intention for it to be aimed yet again at the Konoha shinobi below him.

Meanwhile, Katsuro immediately engaged the golem, unsheathing his sword and rushing it using Thunderclap Impulse. The Senju Patriarch slashed at the rock golem at a speed unfollowable to the human eye, in a flurry of coordinated strikes that lasted no longer than 3 seconds. As the young shinobi sheathed his sword and moved forward, the golem collapsed into rubble, varying in size from pure stone dust to large chunks of rock.

Just before the Tsuchikage could finalise his Jutsu, he felt a vibration from the ground nearby him. Shocked, he turned around. In under 3 seconds, the Senju Patriarch had somehow dismantled one of his strongest Jutsu. How? 

In his surprise, he had almost not noticed yet another A rank fireball coming towards him. 

Wait, no. This isn't A Rank! 

This is … this is more! 

Onoki had no choice but to use his Atomic Dismantle to stop the fireball, yet again. 

Now, the Tsuchikage's chakra reserves were running dangerously low.

I can't afford to lose anymore chakra - especially not around this monster. Not to mention our shinobi are thoroughly outnumbered - we have to retreat. They've caught onto the strategy.

"RETREAT! NOW!" 

The surviving Iwa shinobi looked grateful for the order, and quickly began to vacate the site.

"Do not pursue!" Katsuro ordered the Konoha shinobi - the mission was to stall them, and risking their lives unnecessarily when the mission was complete could be a mistake.

Before retreating, Onoki spoke to Katsuro.

"We will meet again, Stormbreaker. And next time, I will be prepared." 

With that, the Tsuchikage flew away, leaving Katsuro surrounded by celebrating Konoha Shinobi, but Katsuro, despite somewhat participating in the celebrations, was still mentally in the fight, still analyzing.

Orochimaru was right - the recharge is roughly 5 seconds - a long time on the battlefield. And it definitely takes a lot of chakra - he did like 3 and a half this time, and plus that Rock Golem, pretty much 4. Plus the chakra he needs to fly, too. I'd say his max is probably around 6 Particle Style. 

And this confirms it, he thought, thinking back to when Onoki had to abandon his Jutsu - his back was turned on that occasion, and the Jutsu was almost ready. Onoki has to stay still to fire the Jutsu - if he moves, he has to stop it completely.

Katsuro smiled grimly. The mission had been a success. Now all he needed to do was wait.

The momentum shifted back towards Konoha with their tactical adjustment. Katsuro's presence and sheer chakra capacity allowed him to essentially waste chakra to ensure Onoki could not use his Particle Style, and despite Onoki's words, Konoha's strategic changes meant that Onoki's hit and run tactics were no longer effective. It led to a stalemate, which Konoha were more than happy for considering that the likes of Jiraiya could move freely. Onoki eventually understood that Katsuro and Konoha were simply trying to contain him, and grew infuriated watching Katsuro make shadow clones that would help the Konoha Shinobi deal with his men. 

Onoki decided to take on Katsuro's constant challenge. Initially, he had wanted to deal with Konoha's advantage in the lower ranks, but they were bolstered by the Senju force which was fairly small in number but had high combat abilities. This was partly due to Katsuro's preparation before the war - on top of organising and helping to train the ninja of his clan much more efficiently, he had also allowed for the B Rank Shadow Clone Jutsu to be distributed among his ranks freely, where Chunin and Jonin quickly picked it up with demonstration and training with even Genin being allowed to learn it. This removed the gap the Senju clan had in comparison to other clans, where it seemed to lack its own signature Jutsu.

The Uchiha had their Fire Style and the Nara had Shadow Possession, for example. Similarly, the Shadow Clone, created by a former patriarch in Tobirama, soon became their signature, but this was unprecedented in the Shinobi world, where ninja would rarely teach others their Jutsus unless in master - student relationships. Allowing a high level Jutsu at the B Rank that was as versatile as the Shadow Clone Jutsu to be spread to even Genin was something never seen before, but clearly showed the trust and unity the clan had. As a result, the Senju had greatly enhanced combat power and survivability - the Shadow Clone Jutsu was almost made for them after all, and members were able to use shadow clones far more freely due to their innately large chakra reserves. 

Therefore, Onoki turned to a large source of Konoha's momentum and fury, which was the Stormbreaker, who conveniently came at him pretty much alone. Once he was dealt with, devastating Konoha's lower ranks would also be much easier.

Onoki proceeded as usual, making his presence known to a group of Konoha shinobi, but not using his Particle Style, saving his chakra for the fight with Katsuro. As expected Katsuro arrived, with Lightning dancing all over him.

"Onoki, it seems you have finally decided to fight properly."

"You damn brat, this is where you die!" On that note, a team of 5 squads of Iwa Shinobi body flickered out of the trees. Three moved instantly to intercept the teams that followed Katsuro, while the other 2 (made of 2 elite Jonin and 6 Jonin) surrounded Katsuro, specifically formed to eliminate him.

"Hahahaha," Onoki laughed, "You fell into my trap, you damned brat!"

But contrary to the reaction he would have expected, Katsuro simply smiled before drawing his katana, his grin wide and cunning,

"No Onoki, it is not me who is trapped here with you - it is all of you who are trapped here with me!"
