Naruto The Thunder Calamity

Chapter 242: Chapter 242: Magnet Release vs. Wood Release!

A gentle breeze swept through the area. For ordinary people, it would seem like just another windy day.

But through the eyes of a sensory ninja, it was different.

The breeze was filled with chakra, covering almost everything.

"Wind Style!"

At the sensory ninja's shout, nearly all the ninja formed hand seals simultaneously.

In the next moment, a violent gale erupted.

Wind Style: Great Breakthrough!

There was no other way. While Earth Style could counter Wind Style, it only worked by using the thickness of earth to block the sharpness of the wind.

But against Orochimaru, who could transform into wind itself, Earth Style was ineffective.

After all, wind seeps through every gap!

The best strategy was to create an even stronger wind to blow him away.

No one underestimated Orochimaru.

The "Calamity Wind" of the ninja world was infamous, striking fear into many.

But no matter how strong Orochimaru was, he was still just one person.

And here, there were over a hundred ninja.

Faced with such a coordinated assault, even Orochimaru had to stop at a distance, unable to confront them head-on.

It seemed that dealing with over a hundred ninja at once was still a bit overwhelming...

Orochimaru glanced at the ninja named Dou, who was leading the charge toward him.

With a mocking smirk, he allowed Dou to pass through his body.

The moment Dou made contact, Orochimaru's form dissolved into a light breeze, scattering in all directions.

Elementalization… what a pain…

"How can such a jutsu exist in the ninja world?"

Dou spat angrily, but by now, Orochimaru had already vanished.

If the Wind Transformation technique couldn't get close to these people, then…

Earth Release: Underground Submersion!

A simple C-rank jutsu, but in this moment, it proved to be incredibly useful.

The ambush force of over a hundred Kirigakure and Amegakure ninjas mixed together couldn't trouble Orochimaru at all.

Among those present, only Orochimaru could deal with such a technique.

Konoha has a jutsu called Earth Flow Divide.

It can raise and split the ground.

While it's not as powerful as Iwagakure's Mountain Excavation, it's still enough to cause problems for enemies burrowing underground.

Orochimaru's figure quietly emerged from the ground.

Shifting from Underground Submersion to Ground Decapitation was far too easy for him.

Just as he was about to grab the ankles in front of him, a strong alarm rang in Orochimaru's mind.

Without time to think, he chose to trust his instincts in a flash.

*Swish—*

As Orochimaru dove back underground, a kunai plunged into the ground where he had just stood.

Suisei's figure appeared on the battlefield without anyone knowing when he had arrived.

"Such a sly little mouse…"

Looking at the spot where Orochimaru had been, Suisei smirked coldly under his mask.

"My dear brother, how could you not show up in a situation like this?"

Orochimaru reappeared at a distance. The moment he did, vines shot up from the ground near his feet, trying to entangle him.

"Wood Release?!"

Orochimaru's eyes narrowed as his body scattered into the wind, slipping out of the vines' grasp.

"Such an annoying technique…"

Even as one of the few to benefit from the Lightning Transformation technique, Suisei had to admit that Raijin's invention of this jutsu was truly irritating.

Especially Orochimaru, who developed the Wind Transformation from it.

Its offensive power wasn't great, but its escape capabilities were unmatched.

*Unbelievable…*

"Hey… are you waiting for the Konoha ninjas to gift-wrap the supplies for you?"

Ignoring Orochimaru, Suisei tilted his head slightly, his scarlet Sharingan focusing on Dou.

"I got it!"

Dou shot Orochimaru a displeased glare before waving his hand and leading his group toward Konoha's supply team.

Only then did Dou realize something—Orochimaru didn't have the energy to deal with them right now. This was the perfect time to grab the supplies.

Orochimaru's figure appeared near a large tree. He glanced at the ninjas heading toward the convoy, and for a split second, a look of urgency flashed in his eyes.

The Flying Thunder God kunai in his hand began to spin.

Orochimaru had to admit that, against this group, it would be hard to take them all out on his own.

Especially with someone wielding the Sharingan among them.

That pattern… Uchiha Madara?

*Impossible. If it were Uchiha Madara, I'd already be dead.*

"Hey, do you really look down on me that much?"

A hoarse voice sounded in Orochimaru's ear.

In the next moment, a kunai pierced through Orochimaru's body.

*Poof!*

With a faint sound, Orochimaru's figure vanished into a puff of smoke.

It was just a shadow clone.

And rising along with the smoke was a spinning Flying Thunder God kunai that made five full rotations before slowly falling to the ground.

…

Meanwhile, Orochimaru's real body had already reached the supply convoy.

"Prepare for battle!"

Orochimaru's expression darkened. Within ten minutes, he had been repeatedly forced to contradict himself, leaving him feeling a bit humiliated.

…

*Rip!*

The scorching purple lightning streaked through the air, accompanied by a sound like birds chirping and the distinct smell of burning.

"The Thunder Sword Saint of Konohagakure truly lives up to his name..."

Suisei's body, under the effect of phasing, distanced itself from Raijin. Looking at Uchiha Raijin before her, Suisei chuckled and teased,

"I never knew there was a lost Sharingan user from the Uchiha clan."

As her words fell, Raijin's figure vanished from where he stood.

*Whoosh!*

The sound of cutting through air echoed as Raijin disappeared.

"You're fast, but what will you do if you can't hit me?"

Suisei, in her Kamui state, grinned at Raijin.

"Space-time Ninjutsu? Are you proud of that?"

Raijin raised an eyebrow slightly as the Kusanagi Sword and Futsunomitama at his waist were drawn. The former glowed blue under Raijin's chakra, while the latter emitted a purple light, controlled by his Magnet Release.

Both swords struck from different directions toward Suisei. However, they passed right through his body without causing any harm.

*Sigh...*

Raijin exhaled slowly, muttering, "Kamui is even more annoying than elementalization."

If anything, it could be called... space-time elementalization.

But defeating Suisei wasn't impossible. Raijin could use the eternal eye technique Setsuna to strike Suisei down before he even had time to react.

After all, Suisei also had the Mangekyou Sharingan, and without using eye techniques, Suisei could see Raijin's attacks and respond.

Though both of them possessed the Mangekyou Sharingan, neither had Genjutsu-based abilities. So if it came to a Genjutsu battle, it would purely be a clash of mental strength.

Against Raijin, whose mental prowess even impressed the Slug Sage, Suisei stood no chance but to lose.

"What's wrong? Has the great Sword Saint run out of options?"

Suisei's tone was openly mocking as she looked at Raijin.

"This ability to phase your body—is it your eye technique?"

Raijin spoke softly, staring at Suisei.

He wasn't aiming to kill Suisei, but in this situation, Raijin couldn't hold back. At the very least, even if he went easy, it couldn't be obvious enough for Black Zetsu to notice.

Kamui was indeed powerful, but it wasn't unbeatable.

As Raijin's Mangekyou Sharingan spun rapidly, time seemed to freeze for a moment.

Futsunomitama appeared in Raijin's hand at some point, and in the next instant, his figure vanished.

A purple slash appeared on Suisei's abdomen.

Suisei blinked in surprise.

"As expected of you... the Thunder Sword Saint of Konohagakure..."

In the next moment, Suisei collapsed to the ground, while Raijin left without looking back.

Was Suisei dead? Dead, my foot!

Who could understand the feel of wooden skin?

As Raijin's figure disappeared, the Suisei lying on the ground transformed into a block of wood.

This was merely a small battleground.

…

*Wood Release: Advent of a World of Trees!*

Countless trees erupted from the ground, covering an area spanning hundreds of miles, along with Konohagakure's large stockpile of supplies.

Suisei certainly wouldn't foolishly face Raijin in a one-on-one duel.

If she did, Black Zetsu would probably consider her an idiot.

However, Suisei didn't hold back in this situation.

Without wasting any words, she immediately launched a large-scale attack.

The arrival of the Advent of a World of Trees didn't necessarily pose a threat to Raijin, but it clearly created immense psychological pressure on the Konohagakure ninja.

After all, this was the same jutsu once used by the First Hokage to bring peace to the ninja world.

And now, it appeared on the enemy's side.

Raijin watched as towering trees sprang up around him, while the surviving Kirigakure and Amegakure ninja darted between them.

He chuckled softly, and the small gourd at his waist opened in an instant.

A surge of iron sand swept out, wrapping around the trees and reducing them to splinters.

Raijin had known for a long time that Suisei could use Wood Release.

But he also knew someone else who could use it—Tsunade.

Having sparred with her many times, Raijin was intimately familiar with Wood Release.

And frankly, Suisei's version of the technique didn't measure up to Tsunade's.

After all, Suisei had only transplanted some of Hashirama's cells.

Even so, the amount of iron sand Raijin could use was limited, and he couldn't afford to use it all just to counter the trees.

So, Raijin focused on clearing a safe zone around the Konohagakure ninja.

At the same time, countless amounts of iron sand gathered in midair, forming sharp needles.

Purple lightning crackled, and the needles began spinning rapidly.

Over the years, Raijin's favorite technique had always been the Railgun!

Initially, Raijin had considered shaping the iron sand into swords.

But after some thought, he realized it would only waste the limited iron sand and increase his chakra consumption.

So, he stuck with needles, focusing on piercing power.

A sharp whooshing sound filled the air as dozens of Railgun projectiles shot out in all directions.

In that instant, the so-called Advent of a World of Trees became nothing more than a joke.

It's true that, to some extent, Wood Release countered Lightning Release since wood doesn't conduct electricity.

But that's why Raijin used Magnet Release to counter Wood Release instead.

Under the relentless barrage of Railgun attacks, nothing could stand in their path.

Whether it was the survivors from Amegakure or Kirigakure, none of them were spared.

At this moment, there was no distinction between them.

The so-called prestige of the Great Hidden Villages couldn't protect anyone here.

The only one unfazed was Suisei in hwe intangible state.

His Sharingan spun rapidly as ahe absorbed ninja into the Kamui dimension one by one.

Raijin wasn't about to let Suisei take all those ninja away.

With Futsunomitama in hand, Raijin charged directly at Suisei.

The Konohagakure ninja behind him followed suit, fiercely engaging every enemy ninja in sight.

Against Raijin, Suisei had no way to fight back.

He could only use Kamui strategically to evacuate as many of his elites as possible.

In the end, the battle came to a halt.

Suisei, still intangible, looked at Raijin with a smirk.

"As expected of Konohagakure's Thunder Sword Saint. Until we meet again."

With those words, Suisei's figure vanished completely.

"Tch..."

Raijin snorted disdainfully as he glanced at the spot where Suisei disappeared, then turned toward Orochimaru.

At the same time, Orochimaru looked back at Raijin.

"Let's go."

Raijin nodded toward Orochimaru and tossed the Flying Thunder God Kunai to him.

"Thanks."

Orochimaru smiled lightly and nodded back.

When to say what—this kind of mutual understanding was something Raijin and Orochimaru had developed over time.

It had been proven during the first mission of Team Seven.

"No need to be polite."

Raijin nodded, and in a sudden movement, he disappeared from his spot.

...

Suisei didn't return to the small island but headed directly to the Land of Rivers, where he joined the ambush team from Kumogakure.

"Failed?"

'A' looked at his disheveled comrades, understanding the situation. He felt a mix of anger and schadenfreude.

He was angry that they had failed—not only had they not gained any supplies, but they'd also lost many of their people.

He felt a bit of satisfaction that the gap between Kumogakure and Kirigakure had narrowed just a little.

In terms of survivors, Kumogakure was definitely not as strong as Kirigakure right now. After all, none of Kumogakure's elite survived the Second Great Ninja War.

"Failed? Don't just wait around here. Go grab supplies from Sunagakure!"
