Kisame's sharp teeth glinted as he grinned.

"I've heard some rumors. They say the previous two Mizukage were under someone's control."

Obito nodded.

"Exactly."

Kisame chuckled darkly.

Obito smirked.

"Indeed. Just like how you killed all your comrades to protect intel, only to find out that your superior, Fuguki, was selling village secrets to other nations."

Kisame's eyes flickered, his tone layered with complex emotions.

Obito removed his mask, his gaze piercing as he spoke meaningfully.

"If you think everything in this world is a lie, let me guide you to the truth."

Kisame glanced at Mei, who remained silent, then turned back to Obito with a smirk.

"Oh? And how exactly do you plan to do that?"

Obito snapped his fingers.

"It's simple. Follow me and keep cutting down enemies. But from now on, your blade will never fall on comrades. Every strike you make will be to protect others."

"Those who threaten Kirigakure still lurk in the shadows, biding their time. Join me, and together, we'll cut through the lies of this world."

(Mei scoffed quietly from the side.)

Kisame fell silent, his expression contemplative.

Obito nodded.

Kisame turned to Mei again.

Kisame's grin widened into what he probably thought was a kind smile.

"Very well. I will follow you. Please wait a moment."

With that, he left the office.

Obito knew Kisame was off to deal with a mini-boss.

After Kisame left, Mei turned her cold gaze to Obito.

"Happy now? If you're done, leave."

Obito scratched his nose awkwardly.

He couldn't figure out how he had offended her so badly.

"When Kisame's done, I'll take him and leave Kirigakure. The rest is up to you."

"Just make sure you and Shisui stick together. Don't give the enemy any openings."

Mei nodded slightly, her sharp eyes cutting toward the door, clearly signaling it was time for him to leave.

Obito raised his hands in mock surrender as he exited the office.

"Fine, fine, I'm going."

Shisui entered the room silently, his presence nearly undetectable.

He stood quietly to the side, watching Mei handle her work.

As night fell, Mei stretched lazily and looked at Shisui.

"Let's go."

"Alright."

The two left the Mizukage Tower together.

Mei led him to a small house, opening the door and stepping inside.

When she noticed Shisui hesitating at the threshold, she raised an eyebrow.

"…Come in."

"…Oh."

Once inside, Mei removed her shoes casually.

"You can stay in the living room for now. I'll have someone bring a bed in a few days."

Shisui remained silent.

Mei frowned.

"What? Does that bother you?"

"N-No… It's just…"

Are we really living together?!

Shisui's mind raced, especially as Mei slowly removed her stockings, her back to him.

He felt his nose almost start to bleed.

When Mei turned around and saw his flushed face and nervous demeanor, her expression grew amused.

"Are you embarrassed?"

Shisui ducked his head, too mortified to respond.

Mei's lips curved into a sly smile.

"You really are nothing like your cousin…"
