Naruto: Uchiha Madara's Cousin

Chapter 124: 124. Familiar Aura?

In a canyon to the southeast, a group had set up camp, and from the central tent came the sounds of an intense argument.

"Uzumaki Mito, why are the people you brought constantly slacking off? Don't think you can do whatever you want just because you're my brother's fiancée!"

A furious white-haired man slammed his fist onto the table, causing the makeshift furniture to groan in protest.

Senju Tobirama, now a young man with his boyish looks gone, gritted his teeth, his red eyes filled with dissatisfaction toward the woman before him, who was clearly distracted.

The woman, around seventeen or eighteen years old, had vibrant red hair tied into a bun, with a high forehead exposed, her skin smooth and flawless. A few strands of hair hung loosely in front of her face. Her fair skin, large, clear eyes seemed to radiate intelligence and cunning. Her lips were full and red, slightly curled, always seeming ready to smile or sneer.

"Huh?"

The woman, who had been lost in thought, furrowed her brows at Tobirama's accusations. Her black eyes reflected disdain as she faintly curled her lips and responded in a calm tone, "First of all, the Uzumaki clan hasn't been slacking. The Hagoromo clan has already been found, and now you're blaming us because they got away?"

As she spoke, her aura shifted, and powerful chakra pressure surged toward the insolent Tobirama. Her half-narrowed eyes were filled with threat. "Second, I never agreed to this marriage. It's just a wishful arrangement from the Senju clan."

"Guh..."

The white-haired youth, clearly no match for the red-haired woman before him, struggled to breathe under the crushing force of her chakra.

His red eyes widened in shock, but Senju Tobirama was not one to sit idly by. As he subtly formed hand signs behind his back, a faint blue chakra rose around him, struggling to resist.

"Report!"

Just as tension reached its peak, a hurried voice interrupted them. Both of them stopped, glaring at each other with mutual disgust.

Ugh, this stinky fish-smelling woman!

Ugh, this gloomy idiot with white hair!

"Come in!"

Uzumaki Mito withdrew her chakra pressure. Tobirama, now able to breathe easier, flushed slightly, his face revealing a trace of discomfort. It was clear that during the clash, he hadn't emerged completely unscathed. He forced down the blood that surged within him and spoke coldly.

"Reporting to Princess Mito and Young Lord Tobirama, we've found traces of the Hagoromo clan remnants."

The newcomer was a member of the Uzumaki clan who had been assisting Senju Koji in the search. He respectfully bowed to Mito but only gave a simple nod to Tobirama before reporting.

"Is it just another group of old men?"

Tobirama, unfazed by the different treatment, was more concerned about the movements of the Hagoromo clan.

"Not this time. I sense several strong chakra signatures, along with women and children."

The Uzumaki clan member explained.

For some time, the Hagoromo clan remnants had scattered into smaller groups. Most of those the Senju clan had tracked down were elderly, who, upon encountering them, would use forbidden techniques to engage in suicide attacks, causing heavy losses to the Senju extermination teams.

"It seems we've found them!"

Tobirama stood up excitedly. After all this time, they had finally located the core members of the Hagoromo clan. If they could eliminate them, his father's death could be avenged.

"Who's leading the pursuit?"

The white-haired youth asked eagerly.

"Captain Senju Koji is in charge."

"Koji? Then I'm at ease."

Upon hearing that Senju Koji was leading the pursuit, Tobirama felt reassured. A few years ago, Koji had encountered an ambush from the Uchiha clan and, during a life-or-death battle, unlocked great potential. After narrowly escaping death, his strength surged, making him a standout elite captain.

"Now that we've found them, our agreement is fulfilled. Inform everyone to prepare to leave."

Uzumaki Mito, who could barely stand another moment with Tobirama, immediately expressed her desire to take her people and leave upon hearing that the target had been found.

"Hmph! Don't be in such a hurry to leave. We still need someone to guide us."

Tobirama, although eager for her to leave, wasn't sure of the exact location of the Hagoromo clan remnants, so he begrudgingly requested a guide.

"Princess, please let me go."

The Uzumaki clan member who delivered the message volunteered.

"No, I'll go take a look. I haven't stretched my legs in a while. You stay here and gather the others. Have everything packed by the time I return."

Mito, not wanting to waste any more time, decided to go herself. She instructed her clansman to inform the rest of the Uzumaki people to prepare to leave.

"You're going?"

Tobirama frowned, suspecting Mito's sudden goodwill.

"I just want to finish this mission quickly and go home. The Uzumaki clan meeting is soon, and our scattered clansmen are returning."

Mito raised her delicate eyebrows, explaining as she noticed Tobirama's suspicious expression. "Are you afraid I'll hurt you?"

"Nonsense. Let's go then!"

Tobirama recalled that the annual Uzumaki clan meeting was indeed approaching, so he didn't press further. He was the first to lift the tent flap and walk outside.

Soon, Tobirama stood with a group of Senju elite, arms crossed, his dark blue armor exuding a cold aura. His blood-red eyes were half-closed, and his fingers drummed impatiently on his gauntlet, barely able to contain his anger.

"Damn woman, why is she taking so long?"

"Why are you in such a hurry? Don't you think I need to know the exact location first?"

Mito finally arrived, rolling her eyes dramatically, her tone sharp as she retorted.

"Let's go. Follow me and don't lag behind."

Without further words, having gotten a general sense of direction, Mito took off, heading in the direction where the Hagoromo clan was moving.

"Move out!"

With a wave of his hand, Tobirama led the Senju elites in pursuit of the distant red figure.

Meanwhile...

"Gin, who were you thinking about earlier?"

The girl walking beside Uchiha Gin asked through gritted teeth. She had never seen that kind of expression on Gin's face before and was certain he must have been thinking about some seductress.

"I already told you, I was thinking about Taro's barbecue. Once we finish this mission, I'll treat everyone to a meal."

Gin stubbornly explained, knowing full well that Hikari didn't know Uzumaki Mito, and the two wouldn't meet for another ten years.

"No way! Were you thinking about that woman who makes shaved ice?"

Tch!

Uchiha Haruka, who was eating snacks on the side.

Ignoring her accusations, the girl started to name names, one by one, while activating her Sharingan to closely watch Gin's facial expressions for any signs of lying.

"How could that be? Lady Yomi and I are only in a normal partnership. Don't go tarnishing someone's reputation."

Gin declared righteously, radiating an aura of justice so bright it forced the girl to close her eyes.

She missed her chance to monitor his micro-expressions, and by the time the light faded, Gin's face was as calm as ever, showing no trace of deceit.

"It must be that brat back home!"

Uchiha Hikari ground her teeth.

To think Gin was still thinking about that brat while she was by his side!

"Huh???"

Girl, can you get any more ridiculous?

I, Uchiha Gin, am a straight man through and through, from head to toe.

How could I be bewitched by that brat from Senju?

"Tsk! So it's not that. Then spill it—are you hiding someone from me?"

Uchiha Hikari grabbed Uchiha Gin's arm, pressing herself close, her face showing a pitiful expression as she tried to evoke his sympathy.

"I swear on Uchiha Ancestor's…uh…future happiness! If I ever think of another woman, may I be struck down by the heavens!"

Gin immediately raised one hand, his face suddenly looking righteous, sweeping away his usual lazy demeanor. He made the vow with such sincerity that he didn't notice a familiar symbol flashing across the back of his hand.

The next second, a delicate fist came crashing down from the sky, hitting him square on the head as he swore on his dear cousin's name.

Half an hour earlier…

"Are you leading us in circles?"

After following Uzumaki Mito for what felt like forever, Senju Tobirama, who was still young and not yet as composed as he would be in the future, was getting impatient. He had noticed that their group seemed to be going in circles, and he couldn't suppress his frustration any longer, deciding to confront the red-haired woman leading the way.

"Are you questioning my sensory abilities?"

Mito stopped in her tracks, her face growing cold as she looked at Tobirama.

Damn! This white-haired brat actually figured it out.

"But this mark," Tobirama pointed at a hidden sign he had made on a tree ten minutes earlier, "we've already been here."

"Stop nagging! You're making so much noise that I can't even sense properly."

Realizing she had been caught, Mito resorted to making excuses. "Don't you know sensory work requires focus? You've been yapping non-stop, and it's throwing me off!"

Her tone was so self-assured—no wonder she was the top of her generation.

"Ugh… Can you take this seriously? We're on a tight schedule, and don't forget—you don't want your brother stuck on the front lines forever, do you?"

Cornered, the cunning Tobirama played the classic card of threats.

"Tsk!"

Thinking of her battle-hungry brother, Mito clicked her tongue in annoyance. Uzumaki Hanamichi was really a burden.

"Follow me."

No longer wasting time, Mito leapt up onto the branches and darted toward the direction where Uchiha Gin and the others were headed.

In no time, they arrived at the place where Uchiha Gin had ambushed Senju Koji's team.

"Wait! There's a strong chakra residue up ahead."

Sensing the traces of the battle, Mito raised her hand to stop the group, frowning slightly as she spoke in a serious tone.

"Is it Koji's team? Let's go!"

If there were signs of battle, that meant Senju Koji had engaged the Hagoromo clan. They needed to provide support immediately.

"Something's off. I don't sense any life signs."

Mito, sensing something amiss, didn't rush forward. Instead, she turned around with a grave expression and informed Tobirama of the situation.

"What are we waiting for? They're likely still in pursuit! Let's go!"

Ignoring Mito's concern, the anxious Tobirama led his men toward the scene of Uchiha Gin's massacre of the Senju squad. When they arrived, the sight before them made their blood boil with rage.

Meanwhile, Mito stood back, muttering to herself. She had recognized a familiar presence in that chakra—one she hadn't sensed in years, but had never been able to forget.

"No way… No way! What is that human trafficker doing here?"
