Hearing the sound, Nagato went back to the room.

He found Yahiko silently reading a letter.

Looking at Yahiko's slightly furrowed brows, a bad omen suddenly rose in Nagato's heart.

A moment later, all the Akatsuki ninjas curiously asked, "Yahiko, what does the letter say?"

"Has Hanzo finally recognized us?"

Listening to their murmurs, Yahiko put the letter into his robe and smiled, "Hanzo has asked me to meet him. Everyone just stay home and wait."

"Hahaha… After waiting so long, Hanzo has finally responded to us!"

"Great! If we gain Hanzo's support, our wish to bring peace to the Land of Rain will surely come true."

"I've always said that as long as we keep communicating, people will eventually understand and trust each other."

Seeing everyone's happy expressions, Yahiko walked toward the door. "Nagato, come with me."

"Huh? Oh!"

Nagato followed Yahiko outside. Yahiko's expression turned gloomy: "Nagato, Konan has been kidnapped."

While heading toward the location specified in the letter, Yahiko briefly repeated its contents.

The leader had half his body wrapped in bandages, with an X-shaped scar across his face.

The Akatsuki Organization had specifically investigated key figures from each village, so Nagato and Yahiko immediately recognized the man's identity.

It was none other than Danzo Shimura from the Hidden Leaf Village!

"Bring the prisoner forward."

After Hanzo Sanshouo spoke, Konan was escorted to stand before him.

When Yahiko saw Konan, he immediately called out loudly, "Lord Hanzo, this is all a misunderstanding."

"You are our idol. Everything we've done has been for peace in the Land of Rain."

"Please release Konan, and we will obey your orders."

Hanzo Sanshouo gave no response at all, only coldly tossing a kunai toward Nagato's feet.

"As long as you're alive, you're a threat. I won't believe such one-sided words."

"Red-haired boy, kill Yahiko."

"Otherwise, this woman dies here."

Just then, Konan couldn't help but cry out in pain.

Feeling Hanzo Sanshouo's unrestrained killing intent, both Yahiko and Nagato understood clearly.

If they didn't follow through with what he said, he would definitely kill Konan without hesitation.

Trembling slightly, Nagato picked up the kunai, momentarily at a loss.

Yahiko lunged forward, and the kunai instantly pierced his heart.

At Hanzo Sanshouo's command, countless shuriken hurled toward Nagato.

Nagato extended his arm. 

All the shuriken were deflected. Sanshouo Hanzo took a surprised step backward. 

Nagato seized the opportunity to activate the Body Flicker Technique and appeared beside Konan. 

[Kai!] 

The pre-set explosive tags instantly detonated, leaving Nagato's legs in a horrifying state. 

Seeing the severely wounded Nagato and a group of hostile ninjas eyeing them hungrily, Konan felt unbearable pain in her heart. 

If only she hadn't been taken hostage, none of this would've happened. 

Dazed, Konan recalled a scene from long ago—the moment when she first met Mirai Uchiha. 

Mirai had already warned her back then that Hanzo Sanshouo would make a move against Akatsuki. 

They'd pay the price for their naivety. 

But trusting Yahiko, Nagato, and even Hanzo herself, she ultimately chose to keep that warning buried deep inside. 

She never expected it would actually happen! 

In sheer despair, Konan suddenly remembered something. 

She reached into her ninja tool pouch and quickly pulled out a marked kunai. 

Remembering what to do, she channeled chakra into the kunai. 

The next second, the figure of Mirai Uchiha appeared out of thin air. 

"So you've finally come to find me, Konan." 

Looking at Mirai Uchiha's back, Konan anxiously said, "You said I could seek you out once I accepted the truth—now's the time!" 

"This place is too dangerous. Get us out of here now!" 

Seeing Konan's panic, Mirai Uchiha smiled calmly. "I understand." 

"Don't worry. No matter who our opponent is, I'll get both of you to safety."
